Guy forget this one you are saying if you skip gear in manual it will stall a bit because of torque loss. Automatic can sustain torque from beginning to end while manual can never even dream of that especially while clutching. Come on accept the truth. Why have most women refused to drive stick cars. There are men that cannot as well cope with shifting sequence as well. Infact many men that even drive manual still do not know how well to clutch and prevent frequent gear maintenance

Whether you use a clutch or use paddle shifters or even buttons you have to do the gear-shift yourself and not leave it to be controlled by a TCM/PCM.
