The Nigerian Ports Authority has explained that it charges operators in dollars because shipping is an international business and the dollar is the globally recognised currency. Source: https://punchng.com/npa-defends-fees-collection-in-dollars/ 4 Likes

Everyone has a reason for charging in dollars, including Eko Hotel and Suites. Keep destroying your economy. Tomorrow, someone will still blame the white man for it. 158 Likes 10 Shares |

SoNature: NPA is a government agency that should show example. If Eko Hotel are charging in dollars, it's because they have greased the palm of Govt officials to look the other way. 29 Likes 2 Shares |

If the NPA (our own government agency) can't allow importers pay based on a set naira value which is independent of the dollar rate, I think the NLC is right that the minimum wage should be 1m Naira. The current reality is that the government cannot accept what it is dishing out to the citizens. The implication is that imported goods (electronics, mobile phones, fans, A/C, even light bulbs) will be more expensive and there are no local alternatives, cos we have a country whose manufacturing sector is almost non-existent. All I am seeing is a government that refuses to sacrifice where it should but wants its citizens to sacrifice till they die. 22 Likes 1 Share |

Her explanation is simply logical but we all know Nigeria's problem is beyond buying things internationally and all these charges in dollars things, we all know that the ENEMIES of Nigeria always have their purse to protect, they just put you guys there to continue their legacy and save their vetted interest, forever! but posterity will catch up with every one of u one day, I believe! 1 Like 2 Shares |
