Leave No Stone Unturned In Rescuing Kaduna School Pupils, President Tinubu Orders Security Agencies

* VP Shettina meets security agencies, stakeholders in Kaduna, assures of lasting solution

President @officialABAT, GCFR, has directed security agencies to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the immediate rescue of pupils and teachers affected by the abduction incident at the Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Kuriga, Kaduna State.

Vice President @KashimSM disclosed this on Saturday in Kaduna State during a meeting with the state Governor, Sen. @ubasanius, security agencies and stakeholders, including traditional rulers and some affected parents from Chikun local government area of Kaduna State.

Speaking at the meeting, VP @KashimSM said all hands were on deck to ensure that all the abducted persons were safely recovered, adding that efforts were being made to ensure an end to such menace.

He noted that the President is personally pained by the unfortunate incident, assuring however that Tinubu is equal to the task of securing the country.

He said, "I am here at the behest of His Excellency, President @officialABAT, to empathise, to solidarize with the Government and people of Kaduna over the sad incident of the kidnapping of our school kids. The President was personally pained by what happened and he has instructed the security agencies to leave no stone unturned until we return our kids to their parents.

"He (President) is in regular contact with the Governor of Kaduna State. Today, so far, he has spoken with the governor four times; he has spoken with me three times about the rescue of the kids.

"But as rightly captured by His Excellency, discretion is better. I will align with His Excellency and appeal to our friends in the media. You are all stakeholders in the Nigeria project; let us be very selective in our choice of reporting for the interest of our kids who are not currently with us.

"Once again, on behalf of my principal, President @officialABAT, please, accept our heartfelt sympathy over the travails that have befallen our people. Be rest assured that the President is equal to the tasks. The very essence of the existence of government is to secure the lives and property of the citizenry.

"He has tasked the entire security architecture in the country to go all out and get back our kids safely."

@KashimSM, however, commended the media and solicited their continued support, saying, "Our friends from the media, we have come a long way and we will go a long way with you together. You are our friends, you are our contemporaries, you are our brothers," the VP appealed.

Speaking earlier, Kaduna State Governor, Sen. @ubasanius, thanked the President for his concern and the efforts being made to rescue the victims.

He confirmed that President @officialABAT, Vice President @KashimSM, and the security agencies have been working closely with Kaduna State government since the unfortunate incident happened.

While thanking Vice President @KashimSM for his visit, he cautioned against politicisation of the incident, saying the lives of those involved and the agonies of their families must be of utmost concern to all and sundry.

Governor @ubasanius specifically called on the media to work with the Government as partners in the bid to rid the society of criminal elements instead of resorting to sensationalism.

He stated: "I will like to thank His Excellency, the Vice President, for visiting us here in Kaduna this evening to commiserate with the people and Government of Kaduna over the unfortunate incident that happened in the community of Chikun local government of the state.

"I am happy that since the incident happened President @officialABAT and Vice President @KashimSM, as well as the security agencies in the country, have been working closely with Kaduna State Government to ensure the safe return of the children.

"Here in Kaduna, we have been working with the community as well as the leadership of Chikun local government to ensure that we collaborate with the relevant security agencies to ensure that all the children return home safely.

"At this juncture, I will like to caution the media to be very careful in the way they make their own reports because at this critical time, we have to avoid politicizing this very unfortunate incident.

"What is important to us is the safe return of the children, and of course, we cannot allow anybody to jeopardize the safety of the children that were kidnapped.

"The community has been very cooperative; they are working with the Kaduna State Government, working with the relevant security agencies and I can say that we are making some progress but we are going to disclose what we have been doing."

On his part, the traditional ruler of Chukun land, Etsu Chukun, HRH Ishaku Yari, appealed for more security presence, just as he appealed for the fencing of schools in the area.

Senator Uba Sani @ubasanius

I had the privilege of receiving in audience the Vice President, His Excellency, Kashim Shettima, GCON, who came to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to commiserate with the government and people of Kaduna State over the abduction of school children in Kuriga Community, Chikun Local Government of Kaduna State.

President Tinubu in his message to the government and people of Kaduna State assured that no stone will be left unturned until the school children are brought back safely. While restating his administration's total commitment to the security of lives and property, the President said that he has given marching orders to security agencies to move decisively against criminal elements wherever they may be.

I thank Mr. President for his show of sympathy, solidarity and support. Since the unfortunate abduction of the Kuriga school children, I have spoken with Mr. President up to seven times. Mr. President is not only worried, he vowed not to rest on his oars until the Kuriga school children return safely to their parents. I also thank Mr. Vice President for always identifying with our state and people, and never hesitating in coming to our aid.

During the condolence visit, I informed the Vice President that the state government has been working closely with security agencies to ensure the safe return of the children. We have visited Kuriga community to comfort the people and carry out on - the spot assessment of the situation. We are in constant touch with the leadership of Chikun Local Government, the Etsu Chikun, the District Head of Kuriga Community, parents of the abducted children and other key stakeholders. All hands are on deck to ensure that there is a happy ending to this most distressing situation.

While reiterating the fact that the issue of security must not be politicized, I used the opportunity to call on the media to be cautious in their reporting so as not to jeopardize the efforts of government and security agencies. I thank the President and Vice President for their support in this difficult time.

Senator Uba Sani,
Governor, Kaduna State.
March 9th, 2024.

One thing I love about Tinubu is that he does not do monkey business unlike Buhari. Same way he nipped the kidnapping that started in Abuja weeks ago with Wike. Hunted down the guy that killed the Rivers DPO, arresting Obis supporters keeping drugs in residential buildings in Lagos and Kano. This Kaduna own too will be nipped. He is a goal - oriented leader.

To rescue the 20000 or so kidnapped? Who even knows the number kidnapped in this failing state daily? I'm sure no one is counting...

Elections have consequences indeed.

When the populace wants the insecurity to end them go do it by themselves, not with effort of security agencies. I keep saying this. It applies to both east and north

The seed they planted has germinated and is ripe for harvest. Until gave the same energy they used in fighting IPOB otherwise every decision there will be waste of time. North will rather manage insurgency in the name of religion and brotherhood than to be allowed them killed. Enjoy

that is interesting. in the constitution, whose responsibility is it to provide security?

if its not the effort of the security agencies that make insecurity end, then why do you call them "security agencies"?
