Our findings on Senator Ningi’s allegations of N3.7 trillion budget padding for 2024 budget shows that a breakdown of N25.4tn was provided for the budgets of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies…

…while the comprehensive budget breakdown of GOEs, @nassnigeria, National Judicial Council, Public Complaints Commission, INEC, and TETFUND totaling N3.32tn was excluded from the budget that was passed and published.

This does not mean the country operates two separate budgets.

There’s only one final 2024 budget known to us.

However, the summary budget of the aforementioned agencies was passed by the National Assembly and included in the published approved budget.

The practice of omitting the breakdown of certain government MDAs, the National Assembly, and the National Judicial Commission goes against one of the core principles of public budgeting which instructs that all expenditure breakdowns be presented in the same budget document.

Although the FG published the proposed budget of GOEs, it is yet to publish the approval of GOEs.

The moment it was turned to North vs South matter and you see Zombies carrying it on their heads like bowl of paraga, I knew there was something being hidden or attempted to be hidden under tribal wishy-washy politics.

Unfortunately, a lot of tone deaf, myopic youths fell for it.

Is there an actual neutral organization in Nigeria?

This man did the right thing to speak up and all these corner side chemists turned journalist / financial auditing organizations are foaming at the mouth, instead of properly investigating the allegations, they're trying to discredit his report.

After I observed the 2023 elections I knew Nigeria was beyond redemption. Completely doomed, even my northern friends were shocked at the outcome.

How can a so called independent fact finder call the whistle-blower out instead of investigating the allegation that the whistle-blower reported.

A few months ago, I came across a so called Nigerian NUJ student somewhere outside the country and we got into a discussion about politics in Nigeria and the role of journalists. The inept illiterate turned "journalist" was trying to convince me that the billboard "All eyes on the judiciary" was hate speech or in his words "'ate spish", how? I totally schooled the clown and got a few laughs from listeners. That incident showed me just how much of a mess journalism is in Nigeria currently.

If this budgit is what we think of as an independent auditing or investigative journalism outlet in Nigeria then I have to say there's no hope.

Soon as you guys realize they should be there to serve not to rule, you will start demanding accountability. I don't care if each senators goes home with 10 trillion, the people should demand accountability to the last Kobo.

While I was watching the senators debate for and against this allegation yesterday, I noticed that the 'good' senators, or inexperienced once notice the corruption but are too weak to fight it, because they too are direct beneficiaries.

It's like when you get into that circle wether you asked for it or not moneys will be sent to you. And nobody questions you of what you do with it! Blazing corruption!

It's like saying 'if you don't want to be part of the corruption shut up while you get out' having said that, the only THING that can save NIGERIANS are Nigerians themselves, if you are waiting for these leaders rulers , its either they're too handicapped or they're part of it.

Nigerians rise up demand accountability, put pressure on them stop begging them when they pass stop hailing them, stop calling them honorables, or dignitaries strip them of all accolades, put them where they belong. They ARE PUBLIC SERVANTS THAT MUST REPORT TO THEIR BOSS (THE PEOPLE) THEREFORE THE PEOPLE MUST MAKE THEM GIVE ACCOUNTS.

Budget Padding is a social evil. It is operated by transgressors who lack social conscience and sobriety. It has the venomous tendency to destroy the economy and the polity of any country that fails to forestall its growth. This tyranny of evil men led by the demon akpabio will regret their days under the sun.

25.7trillion + 3.4trillion =29.1trillion. BudgIT is wrong, Nigeria is not operating a 29.1trillion budget.

Budget padding has always been a norm even in the previous regimes. Why would some part of the budget and documents shrud in secrecy if not for misappropriation and embezzlement purposes?

It's not ambiguous lazy youth.
What Budgit is confirming is that the budget presented to senators was 25trn but the budget passed was 28trn with the excess hidden under a GOES headline which the senators who passed it don't even know the content.

No he wasn't right. The budget that was passed is what was signed. The figure was widely reported in the press. He probably was confused by the sections that had no breakdown, which is a different matter all together.

Am I the only one with no clear cut understanding of this explanation?

If the budget was padded, they should explain where it was padded with simple breakdown.

If it wasn't padded, they should explain aswell. This explanation looks like a circus display of "iberiberism"

The Senate alleged that the budget was pad to the amount of N3.5 Trillion to N3.7 Trillion.

The question is, what is budget padding if not this?

“These are transparent issues and if you put all these together, that is around N3.5trn to N3.7trn. So, if that is what he (Ningi) wants to interrogate, that there are component of the budget where there are no breakdown, that is very factual.”

The above is what was actually reported in the article.

Below is what the OP posted on his article. This is a prove that some elements are trying hard to misinform the public on this issue.

Our findings on Senator Ningi’s allegations of N3.7 trillion budget padding for 2024 budget shows that a breakdown of N25.4tn was provided for the budgets of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies

4 TRILLION NAIRA IN PADDING IN ONE YEAR
IF THIS IS DONE EVERY YEAR FOR 8 YEARS
THATS A TOTAL OF 32 TRILLION NAIRA
IF WE ALREADY HAVE A 32 TRILLION NAIRA PADDING AHEAD OF US.

THEN BUHARI WAS A SAINT IF ALL HE PRINTED IN EXCESS WAS 22 TRILLION NAIRA.
DO NOT FORGET, THERE WAS COVID AND WORLD SHUTDOWN, SO IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN JUSTIFIED.

BUT NOW WE JUST HAVE A COLLABORATING LEGISLATIVE AND PRESIDENTIAL ARM OF GOVERNMENT
POSSIBLY AIDING AND ABETTING BUDGET PADDING.

THEY HAVE REMOVED ALL THE SUBSIDY FOR THE COMMON MAN
FUEL SUBSIDY.....GONE !
FOREX SUBSIDY.....GONE !
BUT THEY HAVE TURNED AROUND TO INCREASE THEIR BUDGET, TO OVERCOME THE EFFECTS, KEEPING THE CORRUPTION SUBSIDY.

IN THE MEANTIME, THEY ARE "OFFING THE MIC" BY DISTRIBUTING GRAINS TO THE PIGEON CITIZENS.
