Fhemmmy:

Nigeria is a different place, i remember a generator that was bought for me when i was doing fish business last year, bought brand new and packed up few days later and yet i have to buy another one . . . Lol

It's a pity 'guarantee policies' are not in place or neglected in Nigeria, if it were to be in an organized country u will get at least 2 years guarantee and if anything happens u 'll get free repair or replacement.

Very true, but all these challenges and suggestions would be initiated by me and you . . . Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria

Here it is:

Greetings Nairalanders.

I know similar topics have been posted here but none seem to directly answer my questions.

Please I need your help.

I am a young Nigerian that resides in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

I've been considering building a 2 bedroom flat in this city and giving it out for rent.

I haven't gotten a land.

Please see below:

1. I would love to buy a one and a half plot(s?) of land at a good site,
2. Build a simple 2 bedroom flat (bungalow?) with the following specifications:
a. Each room having a toilet/bathroom plus a visitor's toilet (different from that of the rooms),
b. A passage, store, and moderately sized kitchen,
c. Bore hole,
d. Tiled floor (plus tiled kitchen and bathroom wall - fully or just above half the height of the wall),
e. I would love to have a possibility of converting the structure to a storey building in the future (1 or 2, don't know yet).. So maybe I would prefer pillars (or something; don't know the right term.. Just to make it strong enough to bear extra constructions on top)...

Please I need price estimates as I plan to start this project in less than 12 months' time..

Estimates should cover cost of acquiring the land but please the cost of buying the land and that of building should be separated..

Thanks fellow Nigerians.

Waiting...

Looks like this plot of land is very close to the creek that transverses Eliozu there. Serious water log. I wish you success, bro.

@Prof, I can see the challenge that you face with that underground water. I hope and pray that you overcome it by using the best house building practices and techniques. Please use the best Structural Engineer available for the best result. The reason i say this is that a lot more people (builders and laymen) are watching this thread keenly and will be too happy to expose any shoddy job like was the case in the other thread
"Lets build this house". Rgds

Re: The Making Of The "Port Harcourt Mansion" by spyder880(m): 10:08pm On Jul 02, 2013
Special prayers were offered by a man of God as we have started laying the blocks of this house today, we all enjoyed a heavy dose of God's grace as we worked today.
