Basically,I do not know why the Igbos are always trying to show themselve up, they are very strict about strangers in their community, they do not easily accept other tribes as a matter of fact. they will hate you  for not being igbo, they are confusionist, who do not even like themselves, they will destroy this wounderful thing the forefathers have built. 
I strongly agree with the Obong to please keep them where they belong, he was very kind to allow them in the Obongs councel, my great grand father and grand father who were the Obongs would turn in their grave to see this happen but it has happened and the Igbos should be grateful for that. They will never allow a chief that is not igbo to be recognised how much be a member of the Ezes council.

We do not dispute the Ibibio presence in Arochukwu and I am part Aro and have Ibibio roots so I think I have an idea of what I am talking about. Nonsense. The only thing that will make anyone get so rattled up over such a silly issue is insecurity. I am not here to say that they should be allowed to have their Eze IGBO or not but how does that affect your Calabar people? People always want to find a way to express their hatred for another ethnic group by making a no issue an issue. I lived in Enugu and I know many non Igbos that lived there. Not once did I hear or see Igbos making their lives hell. I know some Efik/Ibibio folks that lived there and they speak fluent Igbo. What are u blabbing about? I am Igbo myself and I don't hate other Igbos. I even communicate and try to learn different Igbo dialects.

Oron, Annang, Efik, Ibibio are literally the same people with dialectical differences but are u guys united? HECK NO. The loss of Bakassi and the silence from all these groups is enough sign that when it comes to division u got work to do so go fix that before you come here casting aspersions on a people who have never committed any crime, genocide against your people. Their are non Igbos appointed in many state positions with large Igbo population. IF Igbos are unaccommodating I don't think that will happen. Igbos and Ibibios have always had a good relationship. Even during the Aba women's riot in 1929 Ibibio women joined Igbo women in the struggle. In Biafra Ibibios and Efiks fought gallantly on the Biafra side.

Ther person in question is a member of the Obong of Calabar's council of chiefs and is trying to undermine his authority.

The issue of whether Ibibio/Efik/Annang are united is not the issue. At least they don't operate the caste system. Your leaders should not have surrendered the Biafran war and left the Calabar man to 'carry the can'.

This Eze kingship thingy seems like a relatively recent thing, as far as I know. In some areas what they have, or used to have, is a community leader who also acts as an unofficial representative for his/her community, and sometimes these leaders are given titles by and from the host community, in recognition of their contributions and goodwill.

Thats the one I know.

However, things may have changed after the civil war, or else different areas have different laws about such matters.

Seriously, I don't think it's right for anyone to have a king. We can have laws guiding our morals but what are kings for? However, having an Igbo king in another man's land is totally disrespecting. I know, I know , they have it in Lagos but it's only a celebrity postition. Oba of Eko have spiritual roles he plays not political at all. Only corrupt kings play politics . I don't know about Igbos but in Yoruba land, kings are not selected or elected, they are chosen by the God of Prophecy and Divination(Ifa). So the Eze thing in Lagos is a celebrity role to promote more unity amongst the people and also make the Igbos feel at home and guided in Lagos which is working if you ask me.

It's just a title. However, if the king doesn't approve of it, it shouldn't happen. If the Oba of Lagos said no to Eze thing in Lagos, it won't happen. But Igbo people obey the traditional rules in Lagos especially in areas where the traditional ruleS applies which is few. If the Eze thing will mean Igbos won't obey the traditional laws of the place, then it will be a problem but that is not the case so let them be. ONE Nigeria!!

Hausa have their kings within their communities in Aba,Owerri,Enugu and Umuahia
Yorubas have theirs in Igboland
There are so called Igbo kings amongst the Igbo communities in Yorubaland.
Why then are Calabar fearful of Igbos having someone they designate as some form of leader and spokesman in Calabar
