MechM: I went for my interview today, I noticed the VO lady in the 2nd section was just denying people visa giving them blue paper, I was looking at her and praying she won't be the one to interview me, she caught my gaze, she stood up and I guess she purposely went to get my passport, I was called to her section, my mind skipped like a child that was called to be punished, she interviewed me, I answered all my questions well, she pulled a white was happy at the split seconds, next she said she's sorry blah blah blah...

@OP what is the difference in blue paper denial and white paper denial? My passport is expiring in Feb 2015, could that also be a reason why I wasn't given a visa?

The white paper is to signify that you were unsuccessful for the interview. It has no specified significance.

It all depends on what you were doing while waiting for your turn. Activities are always caught on camera hidden from clear view. Always be careful what you do while inside the Embassy/ Consulate.

KweenCee: Hi guys, please i need an answer to dis question.
If we do our church wedding and apply for a fiancee visa,is there any way d embassy here will find out that we did our church wedding? Is there any background check that they will use and confirm that?

Yes, they can find out. This is quite simple to detect.

I wonder why the complicated question?

We all have travel experience. My question is this: should I apply alone While my wife, daughter and our biz stand as my strong tie. Hello forumite, please will the public holiday affect those that are slated for visa interview next week Monday and Tuesday, because I understand there is public holiday in Nigeria on those two days? I checked the US embassy website but couldn't get any information regarding that.

Thanks for your response, I was only just observing her on how she was frowning and denying people visa nothing more...
If the camera has caught me looking at her isn't it unfair they had to make her interview me? Just curious anyway...

You were staring and that in itself makes someone uncomfortable. She needed to know who you were (a form of profiling) and you didnt pass her assessment (sorry for this).

You can apply again when your circumstance improves.

Hello everyone,
I am a married man with a daughter who is about 15 months old. I have a cousin in the US who is a legal Permanent resident and is married to an american, now the wife is the one inviting myself and my family as relative to the husband. first i want to know, what are the chances of success since my cousin doesn't think he is financially buoyant enough to invite me hence the reason his wife is the one inviting us. Secondly, someone told me i don't need to pay visa fee for my daughter cos she's still a toddler while the other person said i do. All efforts to confirm from the embassy have proved abortive. Please i need urgent advise. thanks y'all.

@Tzetzefly,thanks for ur prompt response.Lemme xplain further.I and my fiance filed for a fiance visa.D rule is dat dia shouldn't be any form of wedding for such type of petition.I want to have my wedding here in Nigeria before going to d states as it will be very hard to come back for d wedding after relocating to d states. So that was y i asked dat if we do d wedding before my interview, will d Lagos consulate find out as dat could lead to outright denial.I will be glad if u can throw more light as Ђǿw they could find out. Thanks once more.

I'm a guy of 26yrs, am working and well pay. No travel experience, and i have a virgin passport. Can i sponsor myself or can she sponsor me?

tzetzefly:

Call the US call center representative to lay this complaints. Have your appointment details with you and both international passports at hand.

Telephone: To speak with a call center representative, call: +23414406294.

Thank you very much tzetzefly, i do not reside in Nig so i couldn't call the number, but i just sat on the system for 2 days and was able to get a date which happens to be the same day with mine for my husband, thou the appointment time was different it didn't matter.

We had the interview today and it was quite good, just 4 questions NOT A SINGLE DOCUMENT was asked for and had about a joke or 2 with the VO and that was it.

Interview went as thus:

VO: Why Florida?
US: Orlando (Husband replies) Miami(Wife replies)

VO: How long have you been living in this country
US: Xyrs.

VO: faces Husband (What do you do)
US: Business (Husband replies) Interior Decorator (Wife replies)

VO: jokes about trying to hire wife to redo his house

VO: Which Country have you visited together
US: Germany, Paris, Singapore, China, Istanbul, etc

VO: *cuts in* never been to Singapore would you recommend i do?
US: YES!

And that was it, the "Nigerian Blood" in me requested i took as many docs as possible, on the queue noticed people had just 1 -10 sheets maximum, sincerely i was shocked to see people with just 1 sheet of paper and i thought to myself "ko si bank statement ni" meaning "No bank statement"? but of course we had over 200 to 300 sheets of only God knows!! God knows i took everything *takable*, but in all we thank God for his FAVOUR and i would like to thank Nairaland, keep up the GOOD WORK..

Good day Everyone, Some referred me to this Topic. I hope am adviced adequately and urgently too.

Me my husband and son filled the form abt 2weeks ago, stating we were going on vacation on december to florida. We have traveld as a family to dubai last year aug and this year march.

Now, a week later I found out I am pregnant.

Please how do I go abt this during the interview. We have delayed in paying fr the fee because we have been confused on wat to do. This is because we started thinking that it won't be a bad idea for me to go and have the baby in the US next year by Gods grace.

My question is wat do we tell them at the consul since we had put vacation on the form already.

My baby is not here until middle of next year by Gods grace.

If we finalise on having the baby in the US,we are not prepared yet for tat. EG:travel docs fr having a baby in the US

Do we state tat we might be considering having a baby in the US?

And if we decide to jst go on our vacation and nt consider having a baby there, do we still inform them tat am pregnant?

Please I would appreciate it if Tsetsefly and others could be help me out as we are confused on wat to do and when to pay.

Thanks a lot!

Re: Usa Visit Visa by Nobody: 7:26pm On Sep 30, 2014
@ifemsh. My advice will be; maintain your vacation story. If asked if you are pregnant, make sure you say. And emphatic"yes" and add that you may also use the visa for birthing next year. But that that is not in the immediate plan as you just want to go on family vacation for now.

Again, even if you are not asked, still chip in that you are a few weeks pregnant and may use the visa for birthing next year.

This is to avoid future problems. Being deported at POE and getting banned is not something you will like to experience.

Goodluck in your interview.

First look back in this section and seek information.
Contact hospitals / birth centres and get prices.
Look for accomodation and get prices.
Get quotations for everything including flights.

THEN
You can say "I am pregnant",
Say that you want to have baby in USA.
You can show costs and bills and show bank statements to cover these costs. (You then look like honest genuine person.)
If all ok you can pay the bills before applying for visa stating that it is to birth.

I have never posted on nairaland but I got useful tips from this thread as I prepared for my US visa interview. I had been rejected in 2010 and then I was 24 years old, had a virgin passport, only travelled to Ghana, was earning about 150k and had only been working for about a year and a half. So, I attended my interview yesterday in Lagos and it was done before I knew it and approved. I actually wasn't ready as I didn't know the numbers were called at random. I was called just about 20 minutes after I had my biometrics done. This is how my interview went:

VO: Good morning, please give me a minute... (then he's typing and typing and typing)
VO: I am sorry.. Good morning
Me: Good morning (with a smile)
VO: What are you going to do in the US?
Me: Vacation
VO: Why New York?
Me: It has the attractions I want to see
VO: Give me examples
Me: Staten Island, Ground Zero of the WTC, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, etc
VO: Cool.. How long do you plan to stay?
Me: 11 days
VO: That seems like your usual duration (or something like that, he was looking at my passport)
Me: Yes, I love short trips
VO: Where and when was your last trip?
Me: Italy, at easter
VO: Which other countries have you visited?
Me: France, Germany, The Netherlands, UK
VO: Why do you have the "denied visa" stamp in your passport? (showing me)
Me: It was an official trip and my office in Spain did not send a letter to the embassy
VO: Ok. Where do you work?
Me: Bleep
VO: For how long?
Me: Over 5 years
VO: Who is your biggest client? Cracks a joke saying "Me"
Me: I smile saying "Nope" and mentioned a client
VO: For real, how long have you had the contract?
Me: A little over 2 years
VO: You married?
Me: No but engaged (and flashed my ring)
VO: Oh congratulations. When is the wedding?
Me: April next year
VO: Oh cool, what does your fiancee do?
Me: He is an engineer
VO: Where does he work?
Me: Bleep (a top oil company)
VO: Oh cool, will you be seeking medical treatment?
Me: Nope
VO: But for the eid you should have your visa on Monday but it could be ready on Friday but for the holiday tomorrow. Your visa is approved. Enjoy your vacation.
Me: Thank you

Yes, someone with an IV Petition can be issued with a B category visa, subject to a very strong tie to Nigeria.

It is however difficult to convince a CO though.
