Nigerian Government Backed By Some Nigerians Are A Disgrace To Africa! by Nobody: 12:12am On Oct 09, 2014
After reading and reserving my comments on a couple of issues between South Africa and Nigeria, I have come to the conclussion that Nigeria is hell bent to disgrace its country, citizens and Africa as whole in dealing with both internal (Chibock Girls) & international /political issues.

It is a disappointment to read how some Nigerians are falling for and supporting disgraceful ways of doing things by their current government on a international stage in the name of being patriots.

In the last two years a number of issues which have threatened the bilateral relations between South Africa Nigeria one can clearly see that SA has been the one to show maturity and compromise not to destroy these relations. I will tackle each issue on point bases to show why I think so.

1. The fake Yellow Card Saga:

Its well known that the yellow card requirement for visa to SA are often faked in Nigeria, when SA decided to enforce this issue Nigeria blindly cried foul and retaliated knowing fully well that this could be the case instead of proving to SA through diplomatic negotiations that yellow fever was not a threat to their country so they could remove it from their visa requirements for Nigeria. Instead SA decided to quench the fire to allow peace to reign between Africa's 2 big economic hubs.

2. The SCOAN disaster:
It is a well known fact that SA suffered most casualties in that church disaster but when they sent their people to help with the rescue mission they were prevented, the Nigeria government has up to now yet to give a report on what exactly happened and hold someone responsible for the disaster but instead they have shielded the reason for the disaster. When a reporter spilled the beans about TBJ bribing reporters to not report badly about him he is attacked by Nigerians for doing what is right. Let alone a so called mog not taking responsibility but start cursing and threatening people.

Not only are the casualties of that disaster left without justice but are yet to be released to their country for burial with the Nigerian government refusing help for DNA testing from SA knowing fully well they do not the capabilities while SA have the expertise.

Reports from the South African government to the victims families are that their family members bodies are rotting in motuaries which are ill equipped (no ice but usage of fans to keep the bodies in a good state) and that they should expect to hold closed casket burials as a result of Nigerian government stubborness. Imagine these families who have not seen their members for months are denied the last opportunity to see their bodies in good state and say their goodbye in decent manner. The SA again has heed to their Nigerian counter parts tantrums and are patiently waiting not even knowing when this whole process would be done as the DNA testing is outsourced.

3. The $9.3 million dollar seized by SA:

A Nigerian private jet with private citizens on board lands in a sovereign country with millions of dollars in plastic suitcases, they do not declare their luggage and when caught say they are there to buy arms for their government. The government collaborated their story refuses to put a clear signature of whom is responsible for it. When the money is seized some Nigerians spit fire and insults to SA, instead of asking questions and demanding answers from a government which was reported earlier by a sitting Reserve bank governor of missing billions of dollars. The Nigerian government plays this down and weeks later another cash transfer is seized

4. $5.7 million dollars seized few weeks after the $9.3

The same government of Nigeria decides to do another transaction without the knowledge of the SA government with a company whose licence has expired to deal in arms. One can also assume that there is a reason why this company's licence has not been renewed after 6months down the line.

South African government has a reputable arms manufacturing company which is also one of the best in the world called DENEL Rheinmetal & Ammunition that manufactures and sells arms to the whole world. But once again the Nigerian government decides to buy their arms from a broker whose license has expired instead of dealing directly with DENEL as there are no arms embargo between SA and Nigeria, so why would they avoid such an above the board deal except they were looking to buy these arms from an illegal market, if they really were going to buy arms?

And how would one know if this was actually a laundered money exchange that has been disguised as a refund? The report also does not clearly state when this transaction was done as the company's licence expired 6months ago.

South African banks are governed by the SA Financial Services Board and SARS which have strict guidelines on foreign money transfers and standard of operations. These had saved the SA from the world financial crises and were left untouched because of these strict guidelines. If the bank saw something suspicious it means there is, as regards to SA banking laws so the bank is obliged to report it, in turn NPA is obliged to sieze it thought the order of the high court.

My confussion here is,

1. who is really hating whom? Is Nigeria hell bent at undermining a country, its people, its legal framework to achieve their own agenda?

2. If Boko Haram had been caught the same way and not allowed to own the weapons they had right now would the insurgency haunting Nigeria not have been long over?

3.If SA had not seized these monies and the weapons turned up to be in preparation for 2015 show down and war broke out in Nigeria, when war crimes are investigated and the illegal arms are traced back to SA would Nigerians not blame SA? would SA not have broken the international laws on arms dealing?

4. Why are Nigerians intentionally willing to neglect the good that SA saga is allowing them on two fronts;
1. Finding money that could have been stolen from the people of Nigeria and tracing the perpetrators and bring them to book.
2.SA might had just saved Africa another unnecessary war, saving lives ( who knows?)

5. South Africa is currently investigating its own arms deal, not because there were illegalities on the deal itself but the process of tendering and bribes that might have been paid in order to pick the company to supply the arms. This was prompted by the French government after suspecting foul play in the process. So this is standard procedure in the international community to ensure zero tolerance in arms deals.

The question here is:
1. Why are Nigerians not concerned on how this Cape Town based company was chosen to procure the arms?
2. Was a fare &legal process followed?
3. From which budget did the money come from?
4. Can your government account and show records of transaction? Etc
5. Why would SA not investigating such gross illegality and complete disregard of their laws when they persecuted and busy investigating minor process issues in theire own back yard?

I really tire for you people. Truly Nigeria is light years behind SA in everything, including brains!

OP God bless you and all yours

It is a pity that since the advent of Native Dr Goodluck Jolantern, averageness and patent sycophancy have been the lot of most of his ardent but illiteratic supporters

To them anything he does no matter how asinine and foolishness-laden,is the best and people with dissent opinion dare not say it........lest they will be termed as Boko haramists and enemy of the nation

yet our hope remains undaunted that the shoeless shall be chased 'kaba-kaba' into the next available Canoe-ride to the creeks in 2015

It really beats me when fully grown humans with fully functioning brains decide to ignore and run from the truth for whatever reason. Nigeria has now turned into a toddler with the terrible two syndrome, that is they have abandoned sense and logic. How far will this go?

Sister if this article is originally yours, then I doff my hat for you. These are the kind of critical reasoning Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion, and party affiliation, should engage in.

They say we are unpatriotic and hate the simply because we choose to question the shady dealings of the government. I had to ask a poster on some other thread regarding the SA fiasco "since when patriotism implies covering up rot in government".

Can't say more.

There is a difference between a typographical error and a grammatical one. The former is accidental and can be overlooked. The latter is a sign of ignorance. You are guilty of the latter. Numerously.

When are you all Going to stop trying to be politically correct and straight up accuse the section of Nigeria where it seems criminality is embedded in their genes? That Plus the practice of a fake brand of Christianity by this group which they have succeeded in polluting the Southwest with...

Even in South Africa, when a crime is committed by a Nigerian it's always usually by this same group. Then they start screaming "marginalization" at their hosts. It's about time the North, West and other parts of the South South call their bluff in its entirety if they really want change in their country.

You quoted the whole epistle the Op wrote and this crap was the only thing you could come up with?
As silly as you are, you couldn't even post a sensible comment without showing off your tribalistic behaviour here. Since you've mentioned all the regions and the S.E is the only region left, I'll assume you're refering to them.
Last time I checked, Mr Bling bling, whose jet was apprehended in S.A is not from the south east. So before you post crap, try and reason well.

So this writeup is thought provoking, however I still do not understand the basis for saying Nigerians as if the whole populace air thier opinion on Nairaland. I understand your article came forth as a result of the nonsense and gibberish you have read here on Nairaland concerning the seized money and what not.

My thoughts :

Yes! Some Nigerians have shown disgust and unpleasantness towards the actions of our government.

Some Nigerians are terribly irritated with scoan saga.

Some Nigerians will forever see blue and call it red.

Some Nigerians will sheepishly support a terrible government.

Infact it's a shame and I mean a stupid shame we have been reduced to this.

I as a right thinking Nigerian feel insulted with this exact words of yours, "Nigeria is light years behind SA in everything, including brains!" embarassed
