This is a nice idea. I buy into it. Reminds me of my service year which I shared with NLders then. U can go through my profile to read on my suffering as a corp member. I ensured I got justice. Pains me to see graduates suffering and smiling. Thank God for where I work presently. An OK boss and she pays every 28th of the month. Though could be annoying a times with some rules but not that stressful for me.
96% Asian owned companies maltreat their staffs.

Please we don't want financial preachers or sympathizers! We know there is need to move on,all wat the OP wanted was for people to EXPOSE NAMES of companies that do not treat their staff well. Remember I said it can serve as a warning to job seekers and people who are not aware.Thank you

The sad thing is no matter how the companies are thrashed here people who ready this thread will still apply despite the no vacancy notice at the gate.

It tells you the level of desperation the Nigerian graduate has descended to.

It is well.

So sad we hv lousy LABOR UNION who goes after politicians and their selfish desire. I know some day sanity will be restored in the public and private work place

If you want to expose then the list would literally be endless because almost every company shortchanges the "Nigerian professional". Privately owned companies treat their staff like sub-humans that shouldn't even be paid with food for working. Yes! You'll see some MDs spend close to 80,000naira feeding n caring for 2 dogs in a month but find it hard to pay a cleaner or a security guard that works for them.
If i suggest an employer blacklist then how far can we take it? Is it just to warn new graduates or something more like making it so that in depth investigations would be done to these criminals that call themselves employers.
When the time comes to step out of the veil of online anonymity to be counted as someone who's been wronged by this system or as part of an actual movement that can lead to true worker unionism not the political auction ground we currently have, will you step out? Can you??

With the unethical practices of most of all the Asian companies in Nigeria which is an open knowledge, I wonder what the Nigeria Labour Union does to control the abnormality. Wondering why this topic has not made F P? At least people would know what's going on in some organisations esp. For those who want to change jobs (cause many believe the grass is greener at the other end) so they know where they jump to.

How hard is it!

Post the name of the Company that is contributing to the hardship of this country!
People are getting fired and replaced for daring to REQUEST for raise in pay check or for their hard-earned pay.
People are ill treated at various places of work.
Workers are defenceless! We need to help one another!

Stop writting long pathetic novels here!
Leave my FACE alone & focus at the issue on ground!

If you can read between the lines...
then you can appreciate this forum and help others avoid the emotional trauma.

My brother , all developing countries as a weak labour law and same apply to Nigeria. The force of demand and supply comes in to consideration, those demanding for job as out numbered the available jobs position in multiple. firms find it easy to exploit their staffs because they know their staffs needs the job badly to survive and in case if things goes wrong they could easily replace them from the labour market. Our government have to turn blind eye against the maltreatment of Nigerians since they are badly in need of foreign investment which will absorb the labour market. Labour laws will only be implemented and effective if supply of labour equals or exceeds demand as the case is in developed country. The way out for now is to start a business in a less competing niche and watch it grow.

You've just spoken my mind.. The way the govt turns a blind eye though.. It's sad but d truth

We nigerians don't know our right, how can a company owe up to five months salary?....we have human right offices, the labour offices, aren't these set-up to protect workers....why rather waste time here complaining, just march straight to their office and lay your complain.

I still don't know why most Nigerians preffers to search for job in these twenty first century instead of creating one from scrash and watch it grow by monitoring it for few years. The CEO/MD of these firms are taking most nigerians for a ride, since they know over 90% of our graduates believe in using the USELESS PAPER CERTIFICATE OFFERED BY UNIVERSITIES in and outside Nigeria for job hunting and not using the knowledge they have acquired for creating jobs that will absorb others. You people should stop making noise, if you are not comfortable with your current firm, then resign, your firm knows hundreds more like you will apply to fill the vacant space. If foreigners like LEBANESSE, INDIA and CHINESE smile back to their country as a result of the ROI from there investment, i see know excuse while millions of our graduates especially engineers roaming our streets in search of a job that do not exist. Nigeria is the best place to invest in because of the cheap labour due to the over saturated labour market, in effective labour laws due to corruption in NLC and government officials. To be successful in life is not easy especially in these part of the world but it pays in the long run. Start a business in a less competing niche and watch it grows, I hope in few years someone will invite me for a drink.
where is the capital to any of those business ideas many people have?

WTF are you talking about? Are you in any remotest sense thinking that everybody can be an entrepreneur? If that is the case, who will work for the companies the entrepreneurs have created? Did you even consider the issue of capital and aptitude when talking about becoming an entrepreneur? Or do you also think that people are wired the same way and hence must reason the same way? Please bro, can we just stop this creating your own business bullsh**t because it is has become an overused cliché. If we should follow this outdated suggestion, then the economy will be standstill as nobody will be there to work for the millions of companies that will be created. So please stop this, your advice should be for people to put in their best in any endeavour they find themselves in order make a positive contribution to their lives, their place of work and the economy in general

I know it is difficult to raise capital from friends and families or apply for a loan without collateral in these part of the world but you can still raise capital online by learning about online money making tricks that require little startup capital eg online surveys which requires about N7000 per month and can yield about N60000 to N120000 monthly depending on the amount of survey you are able to complete per day, if you can invest about 500 dollars for 3 month on SEO, on 9 to 12 micro niche site with unique content in a less competing niche, you should be able to earn a minimum of 2000 dollars monthly from the fourth month till Google updates its stupid penguin which often drops revenue. Also you can try drop shipping, tee spring with Facebook geo target adds tricks to earn huge cash. Read more about the tricks on google because I can't explain it all. After earning enough online quit and start a wholesale business in a less competing niche that is were the huge money lies in Nigeria. Nigerian youths love gadgets and these makes me happy, I give them the gadgets they adore and they give me their money.

People came here to complain, allow them
Go to a thread where you see people taking measurable and concrete steps to make a difference and you'd get a better response.
Like someone here said, not everybody can own/run a business. Business stress is 10 times higher than workplace stress. Most people would run away and go back to paid jobs where structure is created for them and the pay is assured.

I think the poster should make the first post on the first page a list of businesses mentioned in subsequent pages and give the businesses a chance to defend themselves, A lot of staff suffer from chronic victim mentality they would slight and attack their workplaces even if the problem is their lazy, crafty, non-commited attitude.

First of all let me clarify that no company will sue anyone (whether staff or an outsider) if the company's own side of the agreement (contract) with staffs and clients have been breached. So do not fear guys.

I was personally surprised to hear about AIT/ Ray Power owing staffs up to a years salary. Someone mentioning it here also just affirmed it.

I also heard yesterday from a friend of mine who worked with USAID. Yes USAID!!! You heard me right. They owed him like 5 months salary till he decided to leave. He told me he worked for four months before ever getting at least one salary from them. Couldn't believe my ears.
He mentioned that he gave testimony at church when he got the job not knowing it was a trap he fell into.

I also heard PH is owing corpers their state salaries from the set that left in 2012 or so. It is so sad.

PM news too. I have a very distant friend who used to work with them and always complain about the non-payment of salaries. Don't know how true and if the condition has changed now.

Most one man business and private companies in Nigeria are guilty of this.
The economy is so unfavorable that it affects these organizations.
However, some of them are just plain bad.

Most of these companies face challenges such as:
Logistic challenges.
Low patronage.
Epileptic power supply. Everybody can testify how much they spend on diesel at work daily.
High cost of internet.
Government tax.
Expensive rent for office spaces.
It is sad.

This however is not a reason to owe your staff.
Employ those you can pay and do not depend on projections totally. Understand the realistic circumstances of our environment and grow at a "stealthy" rate.

Disclaimer:
I have never worked for these companies but they were information I gathered directly from friends so it is not a participant experience.
So true man.. A 2012 Riv C corp member!
