You are welcome to the fold sir.

1. You can open a brokerage account with morgancapital ltd or Meritrade with as little as N50,000. These two broking firm provides you with online investment, real time trading and market analysis via mail. You can contact morgancapital here on NL via PM to www.nairaland.com/morgancapital or to mreitrade via PM to www.nairaland.com/meritrade

2. For starters i will advise you get investments books that you can read and also invest in stocks with good fundamentals.. All these you can see for proper understanding from pages 1-10 of this thread. I also advise you follow this forum and SMN judiciously for indept market update, research and analysis.

I hope am able to answer your questions to your satisfaction.

Enjoy.

Ofcourse you did. I'll do as you've said. I'll read more, do some research on both brokerage firms & weigh my options. I most definitely would follow the thread religiously as well & keep you posted as I progress in this feat (if you won't have a problem with that). Thanks a lot, more blessings.

However, I bring you good news as US shares end on a high yesterday and European stock markets rebound. I expect the Nigerian stock exchange to recover soon but traders should be highly cautious.

There is this guy called PW on NSEMPA. He easily passes for the highest number posts/day. But his comments are VERY incisive. In short, he has been "killing me softly" with astute erudition. Thumbs up, man! (I can almost bet you're not married, though)

@Dexter: Only your highly-rated and awaited CWA stalking report can prevent this dude from displacing your seat in my mind. grin grin

Hehehe my oga...

PW is definitely in a class of his own. The guy na chairman, he's the kinda dude who can play this Prediction Market with great success and humility, considering the weight of intellectual resources he's exposed himself to.

That will be very very good. Any idea if it will be across the bourse or just some particular stocks? The bears tend to empty this forum. If positive Q3 results are released and the market picks up, we can expect some adrenaline kick which should #bringbackourbrethren. I just read this:

Anybody here knows the minimum amount of money required for opening a brokerage account with either of the following stockbrokers?

1. Vetiva Securities Limited
2. FSDH Securities

I will appreciate views on above stockbrokers in terms of execution of mandates, customer service and other stuff about them. Which one would you advise I use (for someone currently living outside the country). Thanks

Out of the TWO houses above, I shall advise you to choose Meritrade (not Ameritrade o!). But, Sir, if you don't like how "Meritrade" sounds, you make consider Morgancapitalgroup. grin grin grin

Disclosure: I own no shares in the above listed firms.

Vetiva is for High end customers/Institutional investors but all the same, i don't know the depth of your pocket and i can't categorically tell more of it. Google Vetiva and others to get more details.
Meritrade and Morgan Capital (Online, real time trading and negligible brokerage fee is their advantage) are very good options. I use Morgan Capital
