Imo007:

yeah.In Mihs.
Summary: All was fine. I enjoyed the care rendered until after delivery. When the effect of the epidural had worn out, the pain from the tear arose. then i was told i had a 4th degree tear with a 3.58kg baby. the delivery was just badly managed.
i was already dealing with the pain when 2 weeks later, i started bleeding.

Sorry abt ur experience and thank God for life.

Was there a problem during labour and were you at any time advised to ve a CS.

Apart from wanting to birth a child with an American citizenship, we also spend a lot of money to ve better health care, so if one can't get this, then it is very sad.

We were at the Abuja US embassy on Friday, unfortunately  our VISA was not granted . I don't know  the exact reason for the denial and what to do now.

Background ‎
1. My international  passport is 2months old. ‎
2.Monthly salary is around 200k plus .
3 Wife 100k  plus ,and wife was denied a visiting visa a year ago.‎

VO: (checking and typing on his system) You are going to Richmond Texas right?
ME: Yes‎
VO: for what?
ME: for childbirth (cuts in) . ‎‎
VO: Have you travelled before? ‎
ME: No but my wife has travelled to UK before.
VO: how many weeks are you pregnant  ma
WIFE : 28weeks
VO: ‎where do you work
ME: #### (VO cuts in)
VO: what do you do there?
ME: ####
VO: Do you have your office ID
ME: Yes
VO: can I see it?‎
ME: so I gave him. ‎(Vo start to check the system again ,return ID and said ,i'm sorry you visa has been denied.

What do you think is responsible?

I need your advice.

Hi beautiful people. I just registered on nairaland though I have been a silent reader for months now. It's so wonderful to see how people go extra miles to provide and share information to help others. I have learnt quite a lot from this forum. Thanks to all of you who take the time to be so generous with such a wealth of information.
Came to have my baby and now in Houston. I have not been able to post here since I arrived Houston 2 weeks ago due to health issues worsened by a very terrible poe experience which I will relate another time.
@genoMi can you pls forward me the excel sheet u made for Hospitals in Houston? Thanks in advance

Your situation is a bit clear, sorry about the denial though. Probably The VO is not convinced you have the financial muscle to pay the bills that comes with childbirth. Let's do some calculation , your combined salary is 300k X 12 = N3.6 million. Because you are travelling as a couple, For normal delivery you may spend about N2.4 mill and for CS you can spend up to N3.6 mill. So he thinks how will you cope with these bills?. Besides you are travelling to Richmond, one of the wealthiest and expensive suburbs of Houston.

All Visa officers believe you should have some excess in your account after all bills are paid. The travelling experience you don't have may also count. My conclusion is, you should have allowed your wife apply alone and both of you act as sponsors. If You Want to reapply together you should wait a little for the situation to change.

Normanicole kindly go thru this thread to get the answers you seek. Have a plain sheet of paper and a pen with you. If you can go through even the first to 26th pages of this thread or read back from the last 10 you would be a consultant!
God bless us Nigeria

Sorry about your health ma,wish you quick recovery. But I feel you should have shared your POE story at once to educate others instead of postponing it so those travelling won't harbor fears for POE. And you are already asking for the excel sheet without sharing yours,if the thread operates that way I don't think it will grow. It's my Opinion o, please don't be offended.

Good mrn house...pls those of us using doctor fagbohun...I contacted him yst via email and he replied me with an attachment of the cost of each services..and also included some lab test that has to be done..I asked him if its necessary to do all d lab test before getting an appointment as I will be applying by Dec and I don't think I can do those tests at once cos each has stages..
He replied back ......"""Kindly bring your results with you at your first visit.  No prepayments accepted and appointments are made after arrival in Houston.  All you need for the embassy and POE are copies of our email communications, the attachment and your funds in cash.""""""
Am now a bit confused cos I read here that 3 things from d doc re very important wen going for interview..appointment letter, letter of responsibility and email correspondence ...
Now he stated I will need only the email conversations..pls those that av been to d embassy say something

My write up was nt to provide an answer to d question bt to make people who see insulting people has their hobby to stop( u ve also advised the house on this issue b4). Even if this is a class then it sud be an adult class and I believe nobody has the right to insulted anyone that asked a question. We re not children here abeg. Tvegas Dats the difference. Asking people to read is not insulting them, and even though people want to share information and help each other, it at times becomes annoying to keep going through the same questions and issues which have been discussed over and over again. Someone has suggested ignoring such questions, but at times people just need to be told the truth.

Those who have the time and energy can keep answering, but those repetitive questions are very annoying, to say the least. What's so hard about going through the thread? Anyhow, maybe that's left for the rest of us who seemingly have nothing better to do with our lives....

And u feel is nice to insult. We re Nigerians o bt oyinbo pikin. An oyinbo child can say dad re u stupid? And pple ll say na question, he says dad don't be stupid and de say na advice bt let a Nigerian try it if people ll say it is a question or an advise. It won't hurt you if you don't respond to questions

@Imo007,

Read through your experience and didn't know what to feel(anger, thankfulness for life..) . Well as some pple have mentioned, i think you need to sue the hospital for negligence and mind you, you can actually sue the hospital against some post that mentioned you can probably only suit the physician
1. Negotiate the bills well with them to see if they would break as am sure they would be thinking that they can exploit you since you have never mentioned a lawyer. Is there a way to get the diagnosis of the placenta thing as evidence?
2. While doing that, consult a lawyer to determine the process, associated costs and all that to determine if option 2 is a viable alternative.
3. You may also want to report them to the regulatory body for hospitals in the area. regulators have serious power in advanced countries and your case would be strong if you have others with similar experiences to solidify your claims

Option 2 is my advisable option but evaluate all carefully coz if you dont get a leadway in option 2 & 3 and you have to revert to option 1, the outcome may be very unpleasant

Above it all, Thank God for life

@All,

I believe we need more of this experiences on the board as i noticed that there the only few we have comes out after someone summons the courage to share and you start hearing others worrisome experiences. I believe this is an anonymous board so please share all you positive and most especially your negative experiences as you may as well SAVE SOMEONES LIFE BY SHARING IT.
