No I haven't really been following Nigeria politics as I use to recently as I had been busy and the Scottish referendum was the centerpiece of my household politics in the past few months as my wife is SCOTTISH.
Understandable, I was not surprised at the vote the split would have economically been a disaster.

Well Sir I suggest you check out recent Youtube videos on APC rallies. I know after watching them as my husband did he changed his mind and realized that you would be putting that man to his death sentence. His mental capacity is not what it was in 83. Do you remember how the coup went it was easy right? Well this one is going to be corner corner coup. I suggest you even start with the 2011 debate. Have you been to Nigeria recently?

Since when does civil servants get involved in party politics? A federal/state government ministry is not party of party in power. Ministry is an apparatus of the state, not of government, as government comes and go, while the state (sovereign) remains.
After almost 20 years of steady democracy, Nigerian rulers and their ruled, still cannot differentiate few basic principle in a democracy. It's a shame if a ministry of the state (nation) is doing the work of a political party as this should be purely the job of the PDP as the political opponents of Mr Buhari.
Do you know anything about the freedom of information bill?

BUHARI'S Pension Details Released By Ministry.

The last two week has seen the former Head of state and leader of All Progressive Congress (APC), Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari and his supporters telling Nigerians that Buhari applied to the Federal Ministry of Finance to pay him only 10% of his Pension entitlement.

The Federal Ministry of Finance, Abuja has released Pension entitlements for former Heads of States as below.
1} Basic Pay::::::::::::N11.630 million
2. Medical Benefits: N13.230 million (Family covered)
Total Pension:::::::::: N24.86 million

Against Buhari's lies, the Federal Ministry of Finance stated that no request has been received from any Head of State or President declining all or part of his entitlement.

Lies is always lies. It is our duty to expose them. - Hope For Nigeria.

Buhari is too dented to be repackaged.

It wouldn't work for a country like Nigeria.

A man who became famous by showing no sympathy for thousands of people who died during declaration of political sharia by twelve core northern States in the year 2000 and went ahead to call on them to vote him on that platform to defend their religion as if Islam is under threat in Nigeria.

The Buharists have mastered the use of virtual Insurgency such as the use of threat, insult, shouting and obfuscation to scare away neutral people who wish to know more about Buhari.

For the Buharists, except for two or three of them in Nairaland, there cannot be any intellectual serious debate about the item they wish to sell to Nigerians for the reason he was successful in deceiving the Al'majiris in voting him from the streets thereby earning eleven millon votes out of the twelve million plus he got in 2011.

Thank goodness, things have changed, those Al'majiris are to come out from classrooms to vote in February 2015 and are now wiser to know who got their interests at heart.

Seriously old man? Even after reading this and clearly seeing hopefornigeria.com as source with no evidence whatsoever you still went ahead to type this long shitty epistle?

What was the source of the previous claim meant to repackage the old General?

Why ascribe a quality he lacks to sell him to gullible Nigerians?

You actually believed Buhari was taking only a tithe from his total emolument? This gesture sounds too patriotic to attract undecided voters and was a calculated propaganda to upgrade a man with zero democratic experience.

I saw the video. It's difficult to judge a person or party popularity based on the size of the crowd in the Nigerian political rally. For one thing, Nigerians like to go to any show, just to be there as many hasn't got a job to go to. But if judging by the size of what I saw, I think that Jonathan has a fight on his hand.
You have to remember that in 2011 Buhari without any help, no governors, no senators, not a single money bag and with a party that was barely six months old before the election and despite the rigging, managed to get almost 12 million votes. But this time, he has a formidable support of many governors and their cash and their state apparatus to bring to the table.
I don't think that his age is a problem in reality, after all Zik, Awo, Aminu Kano and Waziri Ibrahim were probably all older than him when they ran for the same office in 1983.
I worry about those behind him this time around with all their personal interests at stake. But if you ask me, I think that Jonathan still has a slight advantage to win.
About the 1983 coup. From the history of Nigerian military, it is a well known fact that Buhari had never participated in any coup planning or execution till date, no matter what people choose to say because of politics. I get that.
He became the head of state by default because the coupist (David Mark included) invited him as a neutral general among others and he accepted but when they realized that they made a mistake choosing him, that he is never going to allow them loot the country treasury along with their corrupt friends like Abiola, they returned overthrew him and he never fought to remain there and he left, hence, probably the easiest coup ever in Nigeria.

Have you read what happened in July 1966, such as this extract

VoodooDoll:
Every four years Buhari comes round to try to rule Nigeria. I have met him before and I must say he is very self-centred.

Does anybody know if Buhari has apologised for his part in the July, 1966 coup?

"According to late Major General Garba (rtd), others involved in planning in the South include Captain JN Garba, Lt. William Walbe and Lt. Paul Tarfa (Federal Guards), Lts. Muhammadu Buhari and John Longboem (2nd battalion), Lts. Pam Nwatkon (Abeokuta garrison, Recce), Lts Jerry Useni,Ibrahim Bako and Garba Dada(4th battalion, Ibadan), and Lt. Shehu Musa Yar'Adua (Adjutant, 1st battalion, Enugu)."

"By the time Muhammed got to Ikeja, Captain Martin Adamu, Lts. Nathan, Nassarawa, Muhammadu Buhari, Alfred Gom, Longboem and a bunch of NCOs were already in control of the battalion, having executed several Igbo soldiers and officers (including Major B Nnamani, one of the company commanders) and arrested many others by cordoning off the quartermaster section of the barracks or grabbing soldiers as they came out for morning PT.The battalion commander, Lt. Col. Henry Igboba, narrowly escaped a
dragnet deployed around his house by Lt. Longboem and got away.

Muhammed reportedly gave orders to stop the killing, and focus instead on securing the perimeter as well as approach roads and taking measures to ensure the eventual success of their activities."

Re: BUHARI'S Pension Details Released By Ministry by anonimi: 9:20pm On Oct 30, 2014
For those willing to understand more about our country =>

Sibabasibaba1:
APC e-maggots say GMB was not part of the planning of the 1983 coup that sacked Shagari's government. They tell us that he was, in fact, invited by the planners to become head of state after the coup. Well, in this abridged interview, Tanko Yakassai insists that Buhari was fully aware of the plot and that some of the meetings of the coup plotters, were, in fact, held in his then residence in Jos.

Q. In our last edition of Rariya newspaper, former Vice President Alex Ekwueme has denied the allegation made by Buhari’s government against that of Shagari saying it was toppled because of widespread corruption. He said it was the Southern papers which were mainly owned by top UPN stalwarts that were spreading the false rumours. Since you were in that government; what do you have to say?

What he said is true. There is widespread corruption even now, but the newspapers only focus their attention wherever they want, not necessarily where the corruption is taking place. You see newspaper looking the other way, even if they knew something wrong is happening in a particular place because of certain interests.

During Shagari’s tenure, only two or three ministers were accused. One of them fled to England after the coup, but don’t forget that while he was there, he was being fed, but the rumour then was that he had amassed lots of dollars. Another one had to sell his property to feed his family after he returned. That is proof enough that the allegations of corruption against them were not true.

After the military coup, we had soldiers who stole so much that up to now, no one has stolen as much as they did. I don’t have to mention names. Just check critically yourself, from the time of Gowon to date, between the military guys and civilians like Shagari whom we were in government together with, and whom we have been in politics with for over 60 years, who stole the most?
Shagari began politics with the Sokoto youth party, and I with Kano youth party in 1946, and Shagari began before me by one year, and he is older than me with one year.

Go and see at least three people who started politics in that era, people such as Shagari, Ali Monguno and Maitama Sule; they have held all sorts of positions, but go and meet people close to them and let them tell you how much each has in his bank account. I swear to you none of them has more than three million naira in his account, except may be one person, and even you see it there, may be someone gave it to them. They were just engaged in politics and not stealing.

Shagari and Alex Ekwueme were investigated for more than twenty months, at the end of the day, Justice Ayo Irekefe said Alex Ekwueme went into politics a rich man, and left as a poor man. They investigated Shagari extensively, but could not establish a case of stealing a dime on him before they let him be. But we saw what the person investigating him did afterwards, he is still extremely rich. If you read the history of Shagari, I have a copy, I can give you; in chapter 17, the writers used about 70 pages discussing what they did to Shagari.

Q. Let’s go back to the issue of coup, we were on it before we diverted to your stay in prison. Where were we?

In the book I was telling you about, they said Obasanjo told Umaru Shinkafi, that shortly after the election of 1979, some military officers went to him and informed him not to hand over to Shagari. Obasanjo told them that he had already told the world he was going to hand over power, and that he inherited the office, after a coup attempt that was not successful. He stated that his predecessor promised to hand over, and it means he must hand over.

Obasanjo also told them that he has initiated an election process which was successful. Shagari won, people went to court and he won there as well. ‘So on what grounds should I tell the world I would not hand over to him? Who do you even want me to hand over to? And they said, ’hand over to Buhari’!’

So even before power was handed over to Shagari, the military attempted to steal it and hand over to Buhari. So it wasn’t about bribery and corruption or not to hand over to Alex Ekwueme. I am not the first person to say this; the boys who published Shagari’s book said it first. But, I have also relayed it in my book. And I will give you a copy to go and read.

And since his assumption of power by Shagari, there were several attempts to topple him until they eventually succeeded. It was revealed in that book that the military had attempted to stage a coup even before the second election in 1983. They sought the advice of one of their senior officer who had retired, he told them he supported the idea of a coup, but if they did it before the election, Awolowo would say it was because he was billed to win the election, and the Yoruba owns the newspapers and most editors at the time were also Yoruba and so they would give it widespread publicity such that the world would reject the coup. He advised them to let the election take place first, before they do whatever they want to do.

There was also a revelation in the book that General Domkat Bali’s wife thought her husband was having an affair when she noticed that he always came home late, unlike him. When her suspicion became too much, one day he told her that he was not having an affair, but he was always coming back late because they were meeting in Buhari’s house to stage a coup. Buhari was the GOC in Jos at the time, and he told her not to tell anyone. Incidentally, Domkat Bali’s wife is related to the wife of Solomon Lar, the then Governor of Plateau State. She realised that a coup would affect her relatives’ husband, and she could not take it, because she feared he could be killed. So, she told Lar’s wife, and Lar’s wife also told her husband. It happened that Shagari was going to open the school in Kuru. Solomon told Shagari that he had something to tell him, but Shagari advised him to wait until after the event.

After the event, Solomon Lar told Shagari what he was told at the Presidential lodge in Jos, he mentioned Domkat Bali’s wife as the source of the information. Lar said he had wanted to bring up the issue at the meeting of the National Security Committee, but when he realised that he is not the Commander in Chief, he thought it best to wait, since Shagari is also coming to Jos. Shagari now informed Solomon Lar to go and tell Buhari that this is what he heard, that he was planning a coup. But Lar said I can only do that if you let me inform him that the message came from you. Shagari agreed to that. So when they met with Buhari while they were seeing off President Shagari, Solomon Lar excused Buhari aside and said he wanted to see him, and would come see him at home. But Buhari said how can you a governor come to my house? Lar insisted that he would go. So he went to Buhari’s house and informed him that it was Shagari that sent him to let him know that there was a rumour going round that they were planning a coup.

Buhari said it was not true, there was nothing like that. He asked Lar to go and assure Shagari that it was not true. After Lar left, Buhari called Umaru Shinkafi because they were friends and asked him to meet as soon as possible in Kaduna. Umaru Shinkafi informed Shagari and he was given an aircraft to take him to Kaduna. When they met, Buhari told Shinkafi that he was going to retire since the Commander in Chief does not trust him anymore. There was a time, the military authorities wanted Buhari transferred to Abeokuta but people like Umaru Dikko kicked against it because they said bringing someone like Buhari closed to the seat of power is dangerous. That was why Shagari asked that Buhari be transferred to Jos.

He was very angry with that decision because he felt, he was not trusted. So the second incident made him tell Shinkafi that he was going to retire, since no one trusted him anymore. Shinkafi, in his capacity as the Security Adviser to Shagari, informed Buhari that he knew the president trusted Buhari, so he should not think of retiring. He went back and informed Shagari that Buhari said he should not worry; there was no cause for alarm.

That was what prompted Buhari’s group; they realised that the issue had begun to leak, so they had to strike early. But even before this incident, they had also planned to topple the government on the day Shagari was sworn-in for his second term. In fact Umaru Shinkafi even though did not come out to tell the president that he suspects something was wrong, advised the president to wear a bullet proof vest on his way to the inauguration. Shagari asked him why? I will not wear it. It got to a point Umaru Shinkafi was even shedding tears before Shagari agreed to wear it. In the book, they quoted Babangida as saying they were aware of all this, but Shagari’s people did not know that plans had changed.

Before then, all plans had been perfected and a plane had even been dispatched to Jos to fetch Buhari with instruction to wear his full military regalia, and text of his national speech was already given to him for his inputs before 1st October, 1983. Why they changed their minds, no one knows. This means that they had planned the coup even before the one Solomon Lar got wind of and informed Shagari.

(The interview was granted in Hausa to Rariya newspaper and PREMIUM TIMES has the former’s permission to publish in English).

Good sir I think you missed a major thrust of her post....if I'm not mistaken,(biafran queen please tell me if I am), she is saying that the buhari everyone seems to be loosing their heads for is not the buhari of the eighties .The man is seriously in a diminished capacity mentally not mention physically
As an example there was a post about how GEJ had aged visibly over the last four years sometime last year with pictures highlighting the change.Nigeria is a difficult country hence biafran queen saying that it would be a death sentence for Buhari.
She is also raising alarm at the backers of the man.Unless we want to lie to ourselves, his top supporters are just as corrupt if not far more corrupt than the PDP folks the mast.urbate about daily on the pages of the newspapers.I know she knows and I believe you should know too that these folks just want to use Buhari to capture power and when they do they will pin the old man down(unless you believe the very mistaken hype that the president is the most powerful person in the country all by him/herself(someday hopefully)).
They will run/ruin the country while the doodling old man sits pretty as president .That is,unless you believe that the governance of Lagos for instance is the best thing that could ever happen to Nigeria because for every tale of corruption in the Federal government, you can point to three in Lagos and other opposition controlled states.
I have to add here that I have a personal bias against Buhari which I have explained many times in previous posts namely that people have killed other people in this country of ours because of an opinion that he (Buhari) held(I lost a cousin in the kaduna sharia riots in 2000)
Around a thousand people died in 2011 killed by people who claim that they were doing it in Buhari's name (two people known to me died).
As if that was not enough he is still comfortable issuing threats if it so much looks like he will get cheated ...Nnam put yourself in my shoes will you even contemplate this man in the sit of power?
I am not a corrupt person nor am I confortable with a corrupt system /people and I want change as much as the next man if not more ,BUT IF BUHARI IS OUR LAST HOPE FOR THE SURVIVAL , GREATNESS AND PROGRESS OF NIGERIA ,THEN I WOULD RATHER THERE BE NO NIGERIA.

Brother, you are a repository of genuine and un-embellish wisdom! I adore you and your great insight! Your type is rare as you have a steady yet sturdy way of articulating profound opinion based on facts and not mob sentiments

If Nigeria were a country where people use their brains( at least most are so sentimental),Buhari should be reverred not because he is Perfect but because his imperfections stand so tall against the corrupt band of looters running amock on our common patrimony!

So that you (we) you can be conviced? Look Buhari does not even know a rag-tag like you even exist talkless of thinking to provide you (we) with a copy.

Sai Buhari
Don't you suppose that every commentator on nairaland is rag tag like you brother. I don't need to advertize myself but I am proud and bold to say I aint rag tag like you. I have developed myself through education that I can't be compared with the likes of you and even then I don't need Buhari to authenticate my existence, I exist and will exist no matter what he thinks afterall we don't live in an idealist world.

Having said that if as Buhari and his supporters claim he wrote a letter demanding to be paid only 10% of his entitlements he must produce a copy of the said letter only through that will he prove his integrity. It's not enough to claim to prove Buhari did this or that, we must be given reasonable proof to back your claim that epistemology demands (well I'm not sure you know what I'm talking about).

Mind you I'm not saying the Hope for Nigeria facebook update is true because I'm yet to be convinced knowing how the ministries operate but for those of you who claim and are even ready to swear to Buhari's integrity, there must be rational justification for your claims.

I got your point clearly but in this life, life is not that simplistic to judge a persons character based on his belief on which someone acted upon to cause the lose of life of others. Mind you I am not hooting for Buhari but I viewed myself as a decent person who do not allow personal normal human bias feelings to becloud thing for me. Things l, is what I grew into a man to reject.
Everyone knew that Muslims are brought up to believe that sharia law is the way to go, that is in theory, but in practice, how many of them can actually live under the shariah? No Muslim, especially the public one from the northern Nigeria will come out at the time to say he/she was against Sharia in open. OBJ UNDERSTOOD THAT FACT and hence he never fight it and allowed it to die naturally.
In my town in Igboland, we had at least 30 people who are of Islamic faith and the oldest of them made his first hajj in 1951, they are not different from Buhari and will you accuse them what you are accusing Buhari of and had personal issues with them too, just because their belief are the same as those that killed your relatives? Probably not.
You are not alone in feeling the way you do because I had been there. During the 1966 massacre, my father's only brother perished along with his heavily pregnant wife and 12 years old son in Kano. We never even had the privilege of finding their remains and give them a decent fare well.

Blame the system that created the past and current Nigeria, not Buhari. What about all those northerners with the same beliefs around Jonathan? How many have you got the same issue with?
Since some of you practically believed that Jonathan is the divine anointed messiah, what has he done with this opportunity that may not come again to restructure Nigeria that has enslaved our people since 1970? Absolutely nothing! He enjoys just being the president for six good years now.

The biggest lie is the unclad lie that Buhari never plotted any coup. Perhaps there are two definitions of coup plotting. These Buharistans see black and call it white. If Al Mustapha never filmed Diya, Adisa and Olarinwaju begging Abacha, we would have been told that they never took part in the 1997 coup which the Lagos-Ibadan axis press called a phantom coup.

Thank God Solomon Lar, Domkat Bali and Tanko Ibrahim had revealed the extent of Buhari's involvement in the 1983 coup. We also know the extent of his involvement in the July 1966 counter-coup as a subaltern.

This canonization of Buhari is getting nauseating
