I can see this year's people are very secretive. Anyway, a friend that did this BHE told me this:

•2 batches, of max. 21 people per batch have done BHE, so another batch is not feasible at the moment.

•They will get feedbacks this week on their success or otherwise as against last years' where verdict was immediate.

Speculations

•Prices of Oil plummeting and Shale Oil saga would bring about decline in E&P activities and might result in BH taking less people than anticipated.

•Forecasts shows that the Diversity Team of BH are looking to incorporate more females this year.

Cheers.

Good Evening House.
Let's see how this new week turns out. I got reliable info that the persons that have done BHE so far are people who have had their video Interview up till October 18. Most probably, persons who had their video interview between October 19 and October 25 should keep their fingers crossed and see how this week turns out beginning from mid-day tomorrow (mails could arrive earlier or later).
Or maybe still, they may assess all video interviews taken up till November 1. Then make more invites for BHE.
Usually, the standard has been that from each set of BHE, between 9 and 11 persons are employed. Meaning if 2 sets of 20 each (maximum of 42persons) have attended BHE then between 18 and 22persons may have been taken so far meaning they still have a minimum of 18 vacant slots to be filled & 2 more BHEs to go before shutting down for 2014.
This is the analysis I deduced from the reliable source (who gets steady report on the process) as at the last time I spoke with him (November 4).
As for me, my status still shows 'Interview In Progress' whereas I had done the interview twice; October 22 & later requested to repeat it which I did on October 28. I have received 2 mails;
1. I was successful at the initial interview but not guaranteed an invite to BHE (Summarised).
2. Too many applications for the position & that my profile was still in view & I would be communicated on the next step before end of next month (being November) (Summarised).

Let's be optimistic, stay prepared, stay out of trouble, keep it real while chasing other opportunities.
God bless us.

Thumps Up.

As far as Shale Oil is concerned, I doubt Nigeria will be able to catch up with the trend because we do not have the projected blueprints to withstand any quake it will develop overtime on our economy.

I haven't really taken time to follow this shale oil saga but from the little I see, we just have to brace up for whatever that may befall us in the coming years, which you confirmed in your post.

Sometime ago, I read somewhere by a fellow NL that US navy has developed the technology that will convert sea water into fuel, which means that warships and the likes can be on sea for months or years.

Another news has it that an asian kid, whether from singapore or so developed a car battery that can last 20 years--a pretty good match for Elon Musk's , the serial entreprenuer and invetor , electric car.

This not to cast a dark cloud of fear on people.

Times are changing people. The future of energy from fossil fuel isn't as stable as it was years ago.

Since America who was our major oil buyer have chanelled their resources in developing what they consider a better option for our oil, who else in world can patronise our sweetcrude like the Americans used to?

Canada and America holds the holy grail to the future of energy worldwide if this shale oil is anything to go by. And America has surpassed Saudi Arabia as the world's largest oil producers.

I be olodo o.

David, abeg... I want tap from your sea of knowledge. Mind to mentor me on something?

I dey wait.

Over the years, there have been several attempts to substitute crude oil but all attempts have met a brick wall.
Crude oil (I also mean natural gas) has remained the best & most efficient form of fuel to drive variety of engines & turbines.
Shale is only being considered should a time come when oil prices become unbearably high.

Over the years, there have been several attempts to substitute crude oil but all attempts have met a brick wall.
About 15yrs ago (sometime in the beginning of the millenium - 2000), there was this plant that could also be processed to get bio-fuel but after the long run, where is it today?
Crude oil (I also mean natural gas) has remained the best & most consistent form of fuel to drive variety of engines & turbines.
Your shale requires extremely & dangerously high temperature to be processed. It is only being considered should incase when
oil prices become unbearable high. Even then, it's negative side outweighs the gains.
We are Baker Hughes/E&P hopefuls.
Don't come & dampen our spirit. OK?
Crude oil/natural gas exploration is over 250yrs old.
Nigeria's oil deposits will last the up to 60yrs with crude production at 4mbpd (Million Barrels Per Day). Currently, we are between 2 - 2.5mbpd which means it could be more than 60yrs. We have gas deposits that will last 80yrs (for your info, we have the 2nd highest deposit of gas in the world - I stand to be corrected). These are the wells that have been discovered not talking about the ones that have not been licensed & explored.
I wish you 'GOODLUCK Jonathan' with your shale. What about a Ph.D thesis on that? LOL!
Hope that wasn't harsh? #Smiling
Chao...
Impressive. We are all here to learn. Did you see that where I said I haven't taken the time really follow indepthly on shale oil? But man, please drop me more links aside Wikipedia?

I need to look into the shale oil as well.

I am aware we are second largest reserve for gas, which surpasses our oil reserve by a huge margine.

In science, there is nothing like being hash as long as you are accurately trying to correct a notion. Thanks.

So tell me why the US opted out of business with us. Please do it intellectually as above. Don't quote gay ish as I may not buy that.

Having 2:2 does not stop you from getting into BH.

If you have 2:2 and you have related work experience with an oil company in field work, whether via IT or Training, BH will take you.

Experience matter's to them ALOT, not grade.

It also depend on how you present yourself. Do you have any certification or skills relating to oil and gas, like welding etc?

But if you are not taken, worry not. Just brush yourself up with the above and get ready for their next call up.
