Having 2:2 does not stop you from getting into BH.
If you have 2:2 and you have related work experience with an oil company in field work, whether via IT or Training, BH will take you.
Experience matter's to them ALOT, not grade.
It also depend on how you present yourself. Do you have any certification or skills relating to oil and gas, like welding etc?
But if you are not taken, worry not. Just brush yourself up with the above and get ready for their next call up.
thnx a million for ur info. pls allow me bother u some more! do u av an idea of the best certifying organization around that can help with d training?

I don't have but looking at the CV 2 friends that were taken this year, I can say that having skills or work experience is what did the magic.

One had done a training with Mobil some years ago, he did IT with NPDC in Benin and then listed his duties in those organization... BUT he had LOWER CREDIT at HND. So, I can say that his work experience in the past is what did the magic as indicated in his CV.

The second person knows how to weld, which he learned from his late father in their family business.

Bro, this is what I will advice. See if you can apply as an intern to any Oil and Gas company in PH. Present yourself well and apply. Do some research to unearth them. It does not matter how small and it's not gonna land on a platter of Gold, but never be stagnant.

Sometimes, you have to be smart, not just intelligent.

I stand to be corrected but I think I can say emphatically that Baker mainly calls ppl with oil nd gas experience Which is the case of the peeps I know that were called, tho that only guarantees getting a phone interview whatever happens after that is a different ball game entirely. they even waited for some batch c corpers to finish service nd conducted their own phone interview despite having conducted for others earlier, but that oil nd gas experience I noticed was a common denominator either as an intern of full staff. someone also mentioned that earlier. however,all hope isn't lost for peeps that don't have oil and gas experience, There are still oil companies that employ graduate without prior experience in the field both in oil servicing nd even e nd p, example of Which are shell nd halliburton,that I'm sure of, soo the hustle must continue ,we'll get there soon

but guys what I want to establish is will there be another batch, because there are some of us that still have evaluation in progress as our status, but have not yet been called for BHE. and again the vacancy announcement said the final selection event will take place in November/December, so am a bit confused concerning this, and also I don't think oil and gas experience is a major requirement because I know some peps without oil and gas experience that were called. If you recall in the vacancy announcement they said you must have at least three of the following.
* relevant experience
* 3.0/4.0 2.2 or equivalent
* Experience gathered through internships
* Drivers license
* Must have graduated not greater than 24months
Re: Baker Hughes 2015 Graduate Field Engineer! by Nightingale99(m): 1:15pm On Nov 13, 2014
Over 90% of the participants at the BHE were MSc holders, but trust me your qualifications mean very little during the BHE. You have to prove yourself to the assessors in other areas such as; your ability to work in a team, your aptitude, how sociable you are etc. I don't really know what I did differently from the other candidates because everybody at the BHE had their A - game on. All I know is I did my best and God sealed the rest. God be praised smiley

No more BHE scheduled for the year 2014. That is a confirmation from BH Lagos office but who knows what might come up later. Don't ever loose hope so easily. Pray and continue the hard work.... wink

Like i said when i opened this thread, BH can be very disappointing and wonderful in both ways and under different circumstances to different people. Take it as one of those Job application you nearly got and move on.

wow... That was an interesting read. Do you have other resources you use to keep update with the industry.

Please share. I guess I will bookmark that.

Competition is one hell of beast. So, the sole aim of this development is just to unseat Schlumberger as the world's no 1 oil service company?

Interesting!

And that means there won't likely be anything called Baker Hughes in coming years because Halliburton is buying them. I may be wrong though.

Thanks for the share.

The plan is not to have anything called Baker Hughes in coming months. Though I don't think the merger will be strong enough to unseat Schlumberger. Their combination will only create a company a little more than half the size of Schlumberger.

I DONT THINK THEY WILL BE ABLE TO UNSEAT SCHLUM AS YOU SAID, SCHLUM WILL STILL HAVE THE HIGHEST MARKET CAPITAL WITH LESSER NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES . THE EFFECT OF THIS MERGER MAY LEAD TO LOSS OF SOME JOB POSITIONS . HOWEVER CONSIDERING THE ACTIVITIES AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS OF THE TWO DEALING COMPANIES , SCHLUM MAY HAVE TO BATTLE HARD FOR ITS POSITION IN THE COMING MONTHS.
