Tambuwal remains speaker. Already he is marching on.
I dont knkw howmuch I know about politics.but are you not forgetting something.the majority party in the hoise produces the speaker?so by vertue of him decamping.ho no longer belong to the majority in boise party.so he is no longer the speaker.no action needed to remove him

but na simple thing: Speaker Aminu Tambuwal defected to an opposition/minority party. Normally, he is supposed to give up his speaker position.

In short, this weak Jonathan sef, a president Olusegun Obasanjo is needed here.

Really ? Becareful what you wish for. I tell you if Tambuwal is shot by any of these Soldiers,Jonathan too will be shot by one or some of them. It is in the best interest of Mr Jonathan that Tambuwal is not harmed in any form. History is a good Teacher !

Mr man or woman he was elected not by the majority alone but by the minority party members too (In other words by all the members) why
Schematics:
This is a right move.

Is he still the speaker of the House? NO

He got Speaker's post because PDP was and is still the majority in the House. Now that he has pitched his tent with APC which has minority in the House, the right thing to do is to relinquish his position immediately he decamped.

I don't know why some people want to create unnecessary attention.

Guy,

You are wrong on all levels!!!
He is still the speaker of the House.
He became speaker when he was 'elected' by the majority of the house of reps. Not because PDP is still majority.
What stupid PDP should do to remove him from the post is to impeach him using their majority IF THEY CAN.

Stop talking thrash when you obviously don't know!!!
I just hope you are not a teacher/lecturer somewhere!!

What does the Constitution say? Constitutionally, Tambuwal is NO longer a member of the House of reps talk less of being its speaker. It is very clearly stated.

Does that mean the house of reps members should be tear gassed? No.

All these problems are all avoidable, if politicians are not greedy, selfish and followed the rule of law.

The import of the current situation is that House of reps will be in limbo till after February 14th, 2015, which seems to be lost on a lot of people here...

[s]Please i don't do cursing. I happy to do a clean debate, devoid of emotions.

I am neither pro APC or PDP, especially with the current crop of people at their helm. I want good leadership, simple

Two questions we should ask ourselves are:

1. Is Tambuwal still a member of the HOR going by our Constitution?
2. Is the police allowed to shutdown the national assembly and tear gas members?

In light of (1) and (2)
3. Should illegality be mounted upon illegality by both PDP and APC?

There is an appropriate way of doing things, is it the executive business to determine who leads the Assembly? There is a court case which stated maintain the status quo, why should the policemen and soldiers you so much love be the going against this court order?

Unnecessaryly heating up the country. Let those that voted him in vote him out if they want. Duh? Executive does not choose speaker. Pick a darn primary school text book. Its called separation of powers.
This wahala they have started is going to backfire.

Just imagine pictures being reported around the world now of Nigeria's National Assembly being overrun by the military.

Again this just feeds into the widely - held perception of Nigeria as a basket case.

Foreign investors who are already pulling their money out of the stock market due to the sliding value of the Naira, now have another reason - political instability - to accelerate their withdrawal.

I can't see how today's event will not weaken the Naira even further.

My question to the President is, why go this far to humiliate our country?

. Sir your assertion is wrong, the house elects for its self a speaker ie (1st among equals) and the speaker is from the house and NOT any political party. In other words, the members elects who they want irrespective of the party. But what happens is that the party that has the majority will always win, because all members will vote one person.

Two wrongs can NEVER make one right. Am neither pro-PDP nor pro-APC but am highly disappointed in the presidency and the entire security force. They have no reason to seal up the national assembly complex. I wonder who is giving Jonathan such draconian advice. From the live coverage on TV, I see alot of illegality here. Its not about WHO is right here, its about WHAT is Right and what is LEGAL. Posterity will judge.!!!

You do not have to qoute and strike through my post. Just make your point. Let's show some maturity here...

Any by the way, i am not in support of the police action. I am only interested in why the chief law maker would knowingly (try to bend) the Constitution and exploit mass hysteria to further his political aims...

I don't think the President is behind this.

I think some people are trying to sabotage the President and paint him in bad light.

What is happening is extremely awful! OBJ never did anything this close despite the fact that there were several attempts at impeaching him.

I smell a script being played out. More like a set up.

The President has to be careful at this time especially with his so-called supporters/handlers from the north.
that's where he is clueless , forgetting g that majority who claim to support him are not , some PDP members are just there pending the outcome of all of this, they working with APC.
