Presidency Thursday declared the utterances of the Rivers state governor, Chibuike Amaechi, that should the All Progressive Congress (APC) lose the 2015 general election, the party would resort to civil disobedience as incitement, treason and gross rascality.Addressing news men on the outcome on the APC Salvation Rally, the Senior Special Assistant to President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said, "Mr. Amaechi who became Governor of Rivers State in 2007 consequent upon a court judgment, said at a street rally organized by the All Progressive Congress that if the 2015 elections are ‘rigged’, his party will not seek redress in court but would rather carry out what he called ‘civil disobedience’ as well as form a parallel government”.

According to the President's aide, "This statement is clearly a further evidence of Governor Amaechi’s penchant for lawlessness and anarchy in his unbridled pursuit for power. It is curious and unthinkable that a man who was himself a beneficiary of the court process would disdain the very platform through which he acquired the opportunity to make his reckless and provocative statement.

"It is even more worrisome when one considers the fact that Governor Amaechi’s party, which is relatively new, came on board promising hope to Nigerians. With statements like this it is clear that Amaechi is more of a liability to his party than an asset and has the potential to bring his party to further opprobrium and disrepute. For someone who aspires to become the Vice President of this country, his disdain for law and order is not only unfortunate but also patently dangerous and sends dark signals about the survival of our democracy.”

As far as the Nigerian government(not talking about Jonathan) is concerned, Asari is a NOBODY, he can raise creek touts like himself and cause brouhaha...but he'ld be crushed mercilessly. This is about an elected governor who sworn an oath to protect and preserve the lifes of people. And let not forget that the said 'common civilian' has an influence on several number of people even outside the place he governs. Now look at you applauding a comment made by a sitting Governor whom we all know emerged the winner through the same process he is condemning just because of a clash of their selfish interest. Ok how will he feel if the Riverians resort to the same civil disobedience he is agitating for come 2015 as a result of the process through which he came in?
I know you are saying this in defense of your APC principal but the truth remain the 85% of APC members now were once PDP members and why they left was because they couldn't actualize their selfish desire with the later so the former becomes an option

We all know that whenever APC loose an election, they will scream the election is rigged. You may go and check their reactions to the governorship elections held in Ondo, anambra and ekiti states. What about the senatorial re-run elections in delta and niger states. They have a history of rejecting election results.

For how long? All the protest in the past have been hijacked by the Military who later commit worse acts than their predecessors. let us take Egypt as a case study...

Protesters brought down Mubarrak, They Elected Muhammed Morsi.
Morsi passed a decree that some of his fiat cannot be upturned by the Country's Supreme Court (The making of an Emperor)
Protesters took to the street again, brought down his government. The Military "acting" in the interest of the protesters took over.
The Military Field Marshal not wanting to let go of power contested for and won the Presidential election. He is Hosni Mubarrak's loyalists.

The Country is worse off than it was.

In Nigeria, after June 12 and the uprising, Shonekan was kicked out by Abacha who said he came to restore sanity.
Abacha imprisoned the "winner" and wanting to remain in power forever, he died. The Military Appointed Abdusalam, he organised election and brought back the same people that had held the country hostage. The Cycle always continue. What we need is a revolution of the mind and not the violent one.
