No Respect For Any 'Democratic' Government That Encourages Corruption.

A government with corruption can not be said to be democratic,it can not!

my point is there should be no respect for any democratic govt that encourages corruption . those were typo errors.

You wait for them at the polls. Planing a coup to evict the said government is worse than corruption.

I think buhari supporters sound more smarter than buhari him self. I arrived late at the interview but the much I watched. I was not impressed. He is really over hyped. Lacks charisma, has no strong understanding of the economy and really not eloquent as hyped.

He only mantra is I will kick corruption out, something that would be even more difficult feat to achieve in a democratic government where his powers are seriously in check.

I really wish APC could give us Fashola. He is the smartest and the best APC has got, with a proving track record of managing a complex state as lagos ... a state that is a melting point of people of all ethinc group and religion. Even tho he has his weakness ... He is better.

Nigeria needs a technocrat at the helm of affairs not a politician. We need someone who have a very deep understanding of how the economy works.

The very best they can do for us in this condition is to make Fashola his running mate anything less than that would be disaster. I would personally campaign against him in the little way I can if Fashola is not his running mate

Peradventure if Buhari wins next year, I give Nigeria 1 year her economy will totaly collapse. Reasons being that the average Northerners mindset is solely focused on oil and largese from govt, which can never ever be sustainable again as a result of change in the dynamics of the global economy visavis oilprices and economics. Even GEJ with all his faults has a bit grasp of these dynamics thats why he is impldmenting policies such as Agric revolution, Automotive policy and Power policy.
Like I said if peradventure Buhari wins next year he will face many battles not just economically but the forces that has held Nigeria to the juglar, because they are in every facet of our economy and polity, coupled with the fact that this is democracy not military or dictator, that is why I laugh at those who said that people will be jailed.
Most people dont realise that Nigeria has so much change since the advent of this current democratic dispensation. This Country has moved on in many aspects, and we are entering into more dynamic era in which the sections that has held Nigeria down will be left behind because soon it will no longer be waiting for the monthly largesse from the centre rather every state will have to fend for and sustain itself and survive by its own ingenuity.

TRANSMUTATION OF A MILITARY RULER TO A DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED CIVILIAN LEADER: GENERAL MUHAMMADU BUHARI(GCFR)

French Proverb (translated): “When a horse smells it’s stable it’s very difficult to stop him” It is my considered opinion that it would be rather preemptive to speculate at this time what the choice of these coalition partners or mega party(All Progressive Congress) shall be. However, what is unmistakably true is that, as the Almighty God grants the enablement, General Muhammadu Buhari shall continue to actively participate in the politics under the Nigerian nation-space and aspire for the Presidential ticket of APC.

The entire media space has been inundated with several calls why General Muhammadu Buhari should not aspire for the highest office in the land. Several reasons were adduced by skeptics and his traducers why he should not aspire for the Presidency chiefly because he participated in a military putsch that truncated the highly corrupt government of Second Republic.

But his supporters are of different opinion and many reasons informed their decision why he should re-contest for the highest office in the country. General Muhamadu Buhari(GMB) is admired by many for his uprightness and stand against corruption. The government he led between 31 December 1983 till 27 August 1985 is revered for their ability to keep the country afloat by making progress through sheer economic ingenuity even when it rejected IMF loan and refused to adopt IMF conditionalities to devalue the Naira. His government is praised for its gain in reducing inflation by refusing to devalue the nation's currency, the Nigerian Naira, curbing imports of needless goods, curtailing oil theft and using counter trade policy to barter seized illegally bunkered crude oil for needful goods like machineries, enabling it to export above its OPEC quota during that period, General Muhammadu Buhari was appointed Head of State and Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces, General Muhammadu Buhari justified the military's seizure of power by castigating the civilian government as hopelessly corrupt, and his administration subsequently initiated a public campaign against indiscipline known as "War Against Indiscipline" (WAI). Aspects of this campaign included public humiliation of civil servants who arrived late for work whilst guards were armed with whips to ensure orderly queues at bus stops the whole measure even though draconian brought a measure of sanity into the country during that period. General Muhammadu Buhari's admirers believe that he was overthrown by corrupt elements in his government who were afraid of being brought to justice as his policies were beginning to yield tangible dividends in terms of public discipline, curbing corruption, lowering inflation, enhancing workforce and improving productivity compared to the excruciating decay and malfeasance in our polity today.

i)Optimism:
Judging from the myriad attacks, salvos and reactions elicited from the announcement, it’s crystal clear to all discerning mind that General Muhammadu Buhari is a threat to vested interests who will rather destroy the corporate entity called Nigeria and the rejection from them and their agents or proxies its only due to his avowed incorruptibility stance. In Nigeria he is the real breath of FRESH AIR or THEAIRFRESHNER, what we have been inhaling for the past 14 years of PDP is PUTRID SMELL. Some of his staunchest critics actually refer to him as a serial loser because he lost 3 Presidential elections in a row in 2003 to General Olusegun Obasanjo,2007 to President Umaru Yar’Adua, the 2 elections were brazenly rigged and heavily manipulated and the latest defeat in 2011 election to President Goodluck Jonathan was scientifically rigged also.
Well for the benefit of all and to situate the argument in proper perspectives, not very far from us in Senegal, one optimist leader contested and lost serially for 22 years until he eventually triumphed. Abdoulaye Wade is a Senegalese politician who was President of Senegal from 2000 to 2012. He is also the Secretary-General of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) and has led the party since it was founded in 1974. A long-time opposition leader, he ran for President four times, beginning in 1978, before he was elected in 2000. He won re-election in 2007 with a majority in the first round, but in 2012 he was defeated in a controversial bid for a third term. The import of the whole message here is to inform and educate both the critics and the skeptics in Nigeria that if you are optimistic and a firm believer in your strength you can always present yourself for the electorates until the democratic institution and political system will mature to a point whereby an effective leader will emerge to sanitise the system and usher in a leadership which will counter the leadership deficit pervading the land.

ii) Age And Experience:
When people run out of excuses and ideas on how to stop General Muhammadu Buhari, the convenient excuse employed is that age is not on his side. By 2015 he will be 73 years old. There are many old men in leadership positions in Africa and examples abound; President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe is 88 year old being in power since 1980, President Jacob Zuma of South Africa is 70 years old and will surely be reelected in the next election. President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos of Angola is also 70 year old and still going strong. The recently ousted (March 2012 election) former Senegalese President President Abdoulaye Wade is 87 year old who lost power just a year ago. The list is endless and the inference that I can glean from all the examples listed above will be that they are all effective leaders and the much needed experience in handling statecraft comes with maturity. Moreover General Muhammadu Buhari has a previous experience from the time he ruled as a Military Ruler plus his military strict and disciplined background.

iii) Strengths and Abilities:
General Muhammadu Buhari is a trained military officer with requisite experience in strategic thinking and disciplined background. It will be out of place to compare a man with stern military background with the pretenders in power in Nigeria today who lacks the discipline to steer the ship of the country. The whole media is awashed with information from the incumbent during a breakfast prayer meeting at the Presidential Lodge and quoting “"By God's grace, this government will not fail. I know Nigeria will change, I always make my supplications to God that in selecting me as the President of this country, the Vice President, the Governors, members of the National Assembly, the Ministers, we are not the best material, but God knows why he choose us and we pray he should use us to change this country,”. I don’t know what to make of the statement credited to the Number One citizen of Nigeria but if he is sure they are not competent and not the best material available for the job then they don’t need the electorates to vote for them again, the Nigerian democracy today should be called “Godocracy”(coined by some friends online) one thing is certain though General Muhammadu Buhari is prepared always and was effective as a 41 year old man when he became the Military Head of State in 1983.As a former Military ruler his policies yielded tangible dividends in terms of public discipline, curbing corruption, lowering inflation, enhancing workforce and improving productivity all because of his strict military background. It is on record also that General Muhammadu Buhari is the only politician in Nigeria today running on an anti-corruption platform and pledged to remove immunity protections from government officials which will stem the ugly trend of unbridled corruption, profligacy, looting and wanton wastages by elected public officials. If we make so much noise in the country about the malfeasance in the public sector, it’s in our best interest to allow the only man who volunteered to clean the “Augean stable” to assume leadership devoid of any sentiments.

iv) What Is Good For The Goose Is Also Good For Gander:
It’s really appalling when people especially the educated, enlightened and well-informed ones make so much noise that General Muhamad Buhari being a former Military Ruler should not aspire to rule Nigeria again. Many of the people with this opinion are being economical with the truth, reason the ruling government Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presented a former Military Ruler General Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999 for election, he won the election and ruled democratically for 8 years. More examples abound in PDP, there are 2 serving Governors today in PDP who participated in Military Junta in the past. Former Military Governor Niger(Feb 1976-Dec 1977) and Former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Murtala Nyako(Rtd) is the current Governor of Adamawa State, Former Military Governor of Benue(August 1985-Aug 1986), Gongola(Aug 1986-Dec 1987) David Jonah Jang is the current Governor of Plateau State. Serious explanation is needed from the skeptics why PDP the ruling party can have Ex Military Officers participating in a democratic setting but General Muhamad Buhari does not enjoy same privilege.

v) Examples From Far And Near:
There are many examples of Military Dictators who transmuted into civilian leadership and General Muhamad Buhari will not be an exception. On 22nd July 1994 a young officer(28 years old) Col Yahya Jammeh seized power from President Dawda Jawara in Gambia. Two years later in September 1996 he was elected democratically and still in power up till date. Another example of a former Military Officer is Late Hugo Chávez of Venezuela, he became a career military officer, and after becoming dissatisfied with the Venezuelan political system, he founded the secretive Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200 (MBR-200) in the early 1980s to work towards overthrowing it. Chávez led the MBR-200 in an unsuccessful coup d'état against the Democratic Action government of President Carlos Andrés Pérez government in 1992, for which he was imprisoned. Getting out of prison after two years, he founded a social democratic political party, the Fifth Republic Movement, and was elected president of Venezuela in 1998. He subsequently introduced a new constitution which increased rights for marginalized groups and altered the structure of Venezuelan government, and was re-elected in 2000 until his demise recently. The examples will offer the opportunity for skeptics and traducers of General Muhamad Buhari that his aspiration to be transmuted to a democratically elected civilian is not out of place. Moreover the record of the two gentlemen mentioned since they transmuted to civilian leadership has been excellent, the Gambian economy has improved tremendously under His Excellency Yahya Jammeh watch. The tourism industry in Gambia is second to none in Africa. Likewise Late President Hugo Chavez gave all the Multinationals in the Oil and Gas Industry sleepless nights in Venezuela especially in Orinoco and Coro Coro Basin where vast Hydrocarbon deposits was discovered, the Local Content Act in Venezuela is addressed to the letter. The Venezuelan economy improved tremendously since he assumed power also. They offer strong, virile, credible and honest leadership which is what is lacking in Nigeria today and for Nigeria to exit the present doldrums where malfeasance pervades our polity we need a STRONG, VIRILE, CREDIBLE,HONEST and INCORRUPTIBLE man like General Muhamad Buhari to rule again.

vi) Boko Haram Militancy And Religious Extremism:
As for its religious leaning as Islamic adherent, General Muhamad Buhari in anyway cannot be described as extreme more than any other person would be who practice his religion devotedly. Moreover a man that appoints a Christian South as his cook and steward cannot be an extremist because your life depends so much on them. Another serious allegation leveled against General Muhamad Buhari is the issue of Boko Haram militancy and the alleged sponsors of the Sect. We all knew from record that Boko Haram was formed since 2002 but the militancy and the spate of bombings escalated when Muhamed Yusuff self-styled leader of the Sect was killed extra judicially in 2009, why anyone will now blame General Muhamad Buhari for the Sect activities beats imagination. Some people went to the extent that because he was quiet and mute during the bombing after the Presidential election means he is complicit in the whole saga that will be the lamest excuse to accuse anyone of such grievous offence and its intellectual laziness of the highest order.

vii) Achievements And Records As Public Official:
General Muhamad Buhari first came to widespread public attention in 1976 when he became the Minister (or "Federal Commissioner"wink for Petroleum and Natural Resources under then Head of State General Olusegun Obasanjo. Before then he served as Governor of the newly created North-Eastern State ( present day Borno and Yobe States) during the regime of Gen Murtala Mohammed. He later became head of the newly created Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in 1977. Before being asked to head the Military Junta that overthrew the corrupt regime of the Second Republic in 31 Dec 1983. During his time as a public official the man is revered as being Incorruptible, Credible, Honest, Discipline, which is what is lacking in our present crop of leadership. It is on record that General Muhamad Buhari mandated the former Petroleum Minister Prof Tam David-West to award the Petrochemical Refinery Eleme Port-Harcourt in 1984. During his stint either as the Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Head of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation two other Refineries were built; Warri Refinery Petroleum Corporation (WRPC) and Kaduna Refinery Petroleum Corporation (KPRC) and he also rehabilitated the old and first Refinery in the country Port Harcourt Refinery. In 1985 the first phase of the biggest power station in the country Lagos Thermal Station Egbin via Ikorodu Lagos(1,320Megawatts) was commissioned by General Muhamad Buhari the total amount spent then was around 2Billion Naira. Since he was overthrown in August 1985 the country has not been able to build any new Refinery and not one single Megawatt has been added to the National Grid for power consumption whereas since PDP assumed power in 1999 we are regaled with several National Independent Power Projects (NIPP);Geregu,Alaoji,Okpai, Omotosho,Olorunshogo,Egbema. We all got the report from Hon Ndudi Elumelu led Power Probe Commission that PDP Government spent a whooping sum of $16 Billion on the power projects and till date not one single megawatts has been added to the National Grid from all the aforementioned projects.

In conclusion, if we decide to allow sentiments and stupid excuses to reject General Muhammadu Buhari an avowed anti-corruption leader, am eagerly waiting for another “messiah” which we all seems to be waiting for but we should all realize that Presidential Aspiration is not by wishful thinking its only for prepared minds and we will not drag anyone out of their bedroom to contest for Presidency (message to proponents of young, educated and intelligent leader). We should be mindful of one other fact that the usurpers who held us in bondage and pillaging our commonwealth and resources are perfecting their strategy day by day, they rule with deceit and they understand the entire citizens better than we know ourselves. The message of Pastor Tunde Bakare should be ringing loud and clear in our ears at all times “It Takes Idiots to Be Ruled by Fools”

Don't run away from your embarrassing statement. Just accept correction. I don't need to review any punctuation, even if I make spelling mistakes.....

..that you don't know the meaning of "state funds" in context is the lesson for you to learn.....

.....reference to my education....I can only laugh.

PLS, STOP FOOLING YOURSELF AS FAR AS THIS "STATE FUNDS" ISSUE IS CONCERNED.

IT IS BETTER YOU SILENTLY LET IT OFF, THAN TO KEEP DRAGING IT.

I GOT TO KNOW YOUR LEVEL OF EDUCATION VIA THIS ARGUMENT.

A GRADUATE SAYING NIGERIA IS NOT A STATE HAS PLACED A VERDICT ON HOW COMATOSED OUR EDUCATION IS.

WHEN A FORIEGNER READS SAME, HE WILL JUDGE YOU, MYSELF AND MAJEKDOM AS SAME- BECAUSE WE ARE ALL NIGERIAN.

SO, STOP MOCKING US THROUGH THIS DISPLAY OF HALF EDUCATION.

A COUNTRY CAN BE CALLED A STATE.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE BEFORE YOU EXPOSE YOURSELF TO OTHERS.

Thanks man , but really we need mental awakening in our youths. A foreigner most times will be willing to learn , A nigerian on the other hand starts looking for irrelevant mistakes in the other party when he finds out he is in ignorance . e.g the scout60 guy was trying to find errors in punctuations when it is know 99 percent dont proof read to check punctuations on NL. I see us go no where if we youths are not ready to be corrected.

GEJ: Stealing is not corruption. GMB: stabilize oil market. Nonsense! They are now so confident that Nigerians are complete idiots so they just say anything from their mouths. By the way, this APC keeps talking about corruption. Someone should please enlighten me on APC's track record of discouraging corruption. They have governors and legislators, don't they?
Re: Buhari Live On Channels TV by Nobody: 2:21pm On Dec 08, 2014
Is stealing and corruption dsame? Is dictionary deceiving us...
Anyone who tink is easy †φ fight corruption in d̶̲̥̅̊ democratic system should pls explain why the usa and france isn't rated as no 1 nd 2 in the world. Corrupt scheme....

If u tink †φ fight corruption is easy, go †φ ur office and shorn ur boss for taking wrong money sharing moves, nd let's see if u wunt get fired..

A fwend of mine work at d̶̲̥̅̊ airport, 15million was given †φ the sector †φ install AC stands at the waiting center... D̶̲̥̅̊ money was cut down from the oga downward.. It was obvious, but no one cud challenge dem, dey ended up buying fixing fans in international airport.., nd dia was a man shouting GEJ is corrupt, an ¶.t student dia got vexed and accused d̶̲̥̅̊ man of aving no point, ur oga's shared d̶̲̥̅̊ money for AC. U cud not challenge him is now gej u are attacking, because dey did not share †φ u also.. As Gej will say, wen am tru with my administration dats wen ¶'ll tell the stories bhind it, ¶ pray He comes out of It alive.... OBJ started issues with GEJ, wen He was paid 3times for lagos-ibadan Road without any work done, Gej took it from him, nd gave it †φ sum1 else, dats wen he started running mouth..... We don't need Gej, but Buhari is not an option, APC give us a southerner, no southerner no APC in Aso Rock.. Why not Fashola/Rochas.... Conspiracy in action..

A lot of post will b reposted com february.. A lot of Apc members from d̶̲̥̅̊ south are started †φ realize they taking d̶̲̥̅̊ wrong step against GEJ, rochas speech yesterday... If Buhari wins d̶̲̥̅̊ primary, a lot of those ppl will work against buhari, dey will beg dia supporters not †φ vote for dia party... Dats wat will cause d̶̲̥̅̊ collapsing of APC after the election..... GEJ till apc give us Fashola or Rochas.
