First of all, it is increasingly hard to find women worthy of marriage, the appeal is no longer there. We live in an age where marriages end for boredom's sake, so it's not a death penalty when one eventually ends. We'll probably chalk it up to the new cycle of the institution or whatever.

However, you seem to think men are desperate for or are desirous of marriage, you couldn't be more wrong. Men want a warm hole that can provide warm meals. The only incentive the average Joe has to marry is fantasy, nothing more. Others higher of the social scale might marry for more realistic, you might say cynical, reasons.

Therefore, the concepts of options and choice for men after a relationship ends is more in line with the natural order. If women are all the same in terms of having ulterior motives for marriage, and I believe they all are, it stands to reason that a man investing his heart at the expense of his head is extremely detrimental and could lead him to ruin, case in point, those pansies that kill themselves after a divorce.

Heaven knows this was how i thought things were in the world of relationships some years back. I mean this idea you have is very naive.
I've realized that social science cannot be logically interpreted and i've seen it at work.
I've seen men in my neighbourhood, school, etc divorce women and in less than a month they end up with really wonderful wives. Some of them i witnessed as far back as when i was 12 years old. News flash! Their marriage is still solid till today. Why??
A man once told me, when a woman is ready to commit she is ready to commit. She drops the mill and boons cum disney fantasies and gives her all to the union. She realizes that love is not a mere emotion but a choice. Courtship could be a day or 30 years, That doesn't determine how long the marriage will last.
Life is not black and white. There are many, many shades of grey in between.
Men coming out of a divorce have learnt the ropes (save for some foolìsh ones though) and can easily tell what woman is ready and those that aren't. They wife up the good stock and leave the gamers for the younger generation who in turn complain that finding a wife is hard. And the cycle continues.
Ask around divorcee men have some kind of appeal.

And about women knowing themselves better. You are right but there is a difference between knowing yourself and accepting yourself. Many ladies today can give excuses for every terrible habit of theirs and tell themselves lies to cover up their short-comings, which at the end is counterproductive. When a lady crosses that line of accepting herself she becomes a 'woman'.

THIS IS ONE VIEW. There are many others.

In addition, the new wives realise that they aren't indisposable. If they are an upgrade on the outgoing wife, then it stands to reason that there's a potential upgrade waiting in the wings. This will set their brains straight.
