The project is at paper and drawing stage so stop the propaganda as we are all aware that Railway service is dead and buried in nigeria. PDP is a corrupt party and they don't do any project successfully due to corruption. If babangide can finish 3rd mailand brige with a short term I can't see GEJ and PDP finishing this project in the next 20 years due to high corruption. So therefore Muhammed Buhari will complete the project within his 4 years tenure. Buhari will surely win this election .

And some enemies of progress will keep deceiving their people to bomb themselves and destroy their land to make the government look weak.

They keep accusing the man of dividing the nation along religious lines yet the man keeps delivering the benefits of good governance without being biased or marginal.

Honestly the North has every reason to thank Jonathan. Their politicians mean them no good that's why they refused to build schools for them.

Jonathan has built schools for the almajiris and now I'm seeing train stations constructed and mainly domiciled in the North.

Goodluck Jonathan, posterity would judge you. Your good works would surpass you.

Even though you neglected the Niger-delta where you're from and kept pumping out oil money to the insatiable north, whenever they enter train they would keep remembering it's the clueless one that built it.

When they graduate from the almajiris school, proceed to the university cited in their domain and can study the Koran well to know good from bad, they would remember it was the "clueless bastard from otueke" that constructed it.

You the northern masses are good people we know, just your representatives are blood sucking demons. That's why instead of them to build schools for you and educate you, they went to Niger republic to build schools of 1 billion naira.

Maybe not today, maybe Jonathan may not govern you again but what you can't deny is the legacy and the path for development he has brought to your doorstep.

DEVELOPMENT ON PAPER - we want to see it now 6yrs and because of elections we see projects on paper, we are not carried along- they" know more then us -

It will take 25years to build based on projections. With dwindling revenue from government to pay back loans and other mortgages, we should expect the project to be completed in say 30-35years. By then we would have produced at least two generations of adult Nigerians...18yrs multiply by two=36.

And you think the technology theys tart wth now would not have become obsolete by then??

I always say it that you can't reconstruct in a few years what it took decades to destroy.. to achieve our power Eldorado will not take less than 10-15 years as well.. Take it or leave it.

The desperation to win this next year election at all cost will drive this government to even lie to God. So KPMG now rate projects that is still on paper for the government to use as achievements. 25years and yet dullards have started singing GEJ till 2019. It would have been better we sing GEJ till 2030 when the project is expected to be completed.I forgot GEJ as a president is more interested in groundbreaking ceremonies than in commissioning finished projects. All are part of transformation AGENDA not forgetting that the word AGENDA has been synonymous with sinister moves in Nigeria's political life. The beauty of the whole thing is that Nigerians just suddenly became wiser and they will demonstrate it come Feb next year.

In the early hours of June 28 in Shanghai China, while Nigeria will still be sleeping, a Chinese high speed train will take off with passengers to Beijing, bringing the country's longest high speed railway service into commercial use.

The Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway is a 1,318 kilometres network that connects two major economic zones in the People's Republic of China. It is the world's longest high-speed line ever constructed in a single phase.

Construction on the rail line began on April 18, 2008, two-and-a-half years after Nigeria's transport ministry signed an $8.3 billion contract with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to reconstruct the 1,315 kilometre Lagos - Kano railway under the watch of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

A ceremony to mark the completion of track laying for the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway was held on November 15, 2010. It took the Chinese exactly two years and eight months to complete theirs. Nigeria's network is three kilometres shorter than the Chinese. It is also a relatively unsophisticated system, meant to carry basic speed locomotive trains. But it is far from finished, five years after the contract was signed.

The Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway project cost the country about $32 billion. It has 24 stations, 22 tunnels and 244 bridges - including the 164-km long Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge which is the longest bridge in the world.

Designers of China's high-speed railway network say the trains will run at a speed of 350 km/h, with a maximum speed of up to 380 km/h which would cut the train travel time between Beijing and Shanghai from 10 hours to 4.8 hours.

"Its technology is advanced, its quality reliable and safety guaranteed," China's deputy rail minister, Hu Yadong, told reporters on Monday in Beijing. "The technical reliability of the line, as measured by international criteria, is world class!"

Comparatively, this network is a thousand times more sophisticated than the Lagos-Kano railway. But even though Nigeria's project is handled - now in part - by the Chinese, it will hardly be completed soon.

Come to think of it 25years to construct a 3,218km network while they built 1,318km network in 2years 8months.
