^^^ Maintenance of any Hybrid automobile in Nigeria will pose issues for all but the most experienced of mechanics. I would go for a conventional model. |

@ Sienna, I want to do this math on my Hyundai Lantra 1998 that I suspect is a drunk. But I do not want to drive to empty soIi ask you, is it true in all cases that once the amber reserve fue light flashes, then it's 10 ltrs remaining. Does this apply in all cars, cos I want to do the calculations from there and not necessarily till my tank empties out. Thanks. |

My people, with the subsidy removal in Nigeria, this thread becomes even more necessary. Think we should revive it . Will take time to prepare fuel consumption of my car later, but I know its terrible. Nothing like what the car manufacturer stated. We spend more time idling in Lagos and with the pot holes have to always slow down. |

ekoboy:True talk but you can only measure consumption well and realistically when the excessive idling we are forced to endure stops. I squeezed out about 350miles from my SUV recently but in Oyo state and highway. My tank by the way is 19.3gallons US. |

VIPICO: The reserve amount will differ between different makes and models. Your owner's manual will usually tell you how many litres your reserve is. |

Any more reports? With fuel prices at an all time high, this is where a thread like this becomes even more essential. You can compare your consumption figures with others who run a similar model to yours, and see how different the values are. |

There is a way u can save more cash nd make more cash reducing ur fuel consumption by up to 30%. it will be difficult for me to actually estimate the miles per liter my car uses in the city. The reason is i get stuck in traffic a lot on my commute to work and back and the car just idles for long periods. how do i factor in the amount of fuel spent idling in traffic. Sometimes i spend upwards of fifteen minutes idling in traffic. i have checked the highway miles per liter though and it was a fairly impressive 7.5 miles per liter. The car is a 2.4 liter 2002 toyota camry. Its a front wheel drive. I dont have a heavy foot sha. 1 Like 2 Shares |

@madafa, u sure this figures (Fuel economy with a/c: 22.2L/km Fuel economy with open windows, sunroof and no a/c: 18.5L/km) are correct? isn't 22.2 litres per kilometer  , a bit like setting fire to a fully loaded pms tanker?  |

Siena: Lexus is a 3.5 Liter V6 coupe. The Murano is a 3.5L V6 SUV(sold). The Tundra is a 5.7 litre V8. Just got the Tundra |

Siena: You know for quite some time i couldn't figure out the difference. If u convert ur fuel consumption to MPG using US gallons which is what we use here in naija, it drops down to 18 which is close to the advertised MPG for your car. Using UK gallon to litre conversion slightly bumps up MPG.  |

Car make: Toyota Car model: Sienna Bus Year: 2000 Engine size: 3.0L V6 (193hp) Estimated mpg: 16 city, 22 highway Estimated mpg I calculated 19.xx Car litres is 79L I estimated my fuel by filling up the tank and letting the guage drop to half the tank with a total reading of 260km, there is no way the tank would reach reserve since I won't allow it so I just divided it with 38Litres factoring in some instances like the tank was almost full and the guage had concave meniscus so it has not totally reached the half tank scoping it from certain angles but what I got was close to the combine mpg of 19. I know my method is kinda like an assumption. |

My 1.6l auto carina E does 100km with 20l in city with AC. Yes my check engine light is on n my thermostat disconnected but I ll work on all dt to improve my fuel economy before long  |

chukel: You are either not driving this vehicle in Lagos or this FE screen was captured right after a reset and a long trip on the highway. Otherwise, that mpg is not feasible. |

chukel: Well then, let me positively inform you that both your screen and manual calculations are incorrect. Even the vehicle's factory specified fuel economy performance for city driving (for an engine in perfect condition) is 24mpg and that is in best case scenarios without any traffic, not to add with good quality fuel. Your assumption that your 3.5 litre engine is doing 30mpg IN THE CITY OF BAYELSA, my good Sir, is highly improbable. Let me ask you to do this simple test, fill your tank to full and take a snap shot of the screen showing the range. If you are indeed getting 30mpg, your range will not be anything less than 500miles at full tank. Over to you. |

My 2014 Ford Explorer's fuel tank is c. 70 litres. The onboard computer indicates 206 miles to empty tank when on full tank. Going by my calc. This translates to 11.5m/g which is in sync with the 12m/g the dash also states. However, this stat is far lower than the manufaturer displayed 22m/g. Any thoughts on what could be going on here? tboy2k4:If your check engine light is on then do a scan and start from there. However, there are other factors e.g distance driven averagely per day and average speed. If you drive rather short distances and your average speed is low (25mph or less) and you idle extensively in traffic, your MPG will be much lower than the manufacturer stated MPG. I usually use my highway drives to confirm my MPG. City driving especially in cities like Lag and PH crush MPGs. |
