I saw various posts on the social media, criticising federal government's reduction of gasoline(PMS or Petrol) pump price from N97 to N87. More worrisome is the fact that some of our youths join the bandwagon in the criticism.

I wonder why we have some youths of our country who can not make use of their brains to ponder on issues that would further enrich the country. Present day youths are being tossed around by the older ones and sometimes, by illiterates. ‎

Drivers paid an average of $2.2021 a gallon for regular gasoline at U.S. pumps of recent in the US (do some ‎confirmation) 1US gallon = 3.7854ltrs‎ ‎$2.2021 = N398.58 (@ exchange rate of N181/$) Therefore, 1gallon = N398.58 ÷ ‎3.7854ltrs = N105.29/ltr in the US

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, after taking into consideration, landing costs and other expenses, it is N85/ltr for the same litre of gasoline yet people are ignorantly ranting on social media and elsewhere. Between Nigeria and the US, which is better? What has happened to some present day youths in my dear country, Nigeria‎? Mr. President, Goodluck Jonathan has indeed shown that he has the interest of Nigerians at heart.‎

a friend wrote this and he considered other factors unlike u
Sina Solaru
Price per barrel of crude oil a year ago
[January, 2014] was $97.92/barrel
worldwide. It is now $46.97/barrel.... Gas/
petrol was $3.28/gallon a year ago in the
U.S. It is now $1.89/gallon because of
demand & supply that controls the price. I
just bought a gallon of petrol/gas from
Costco at $1.89 cents/gallon today and since
1 gallon equals 3.78 liters, that equals to 50
cents per liter here in the U.S. That is
#92.50kobo per liter @ the exchange rate of
$1= #185naira ..... Per Capita Income in the
U.S. is $53,042 while per capita income in
Nigeria is $3,006 source: World Bank. That
means Nigeria is currently[until the so called
midnight] paying more at #97/liter than in
the U.S. at #92.50/liter. Nigerians should be
paying #5.24kobo per liter based on the per
capita income differential. Otherwise, the
result is still ABJECT POVERTY! Hit 'Like' if
you are not better off than you were 4 years
ago.

minimum wage in the USA is basically done hourly. It is an average of $8/hour. Meanwhile, it is pertinent to note that it all depends on how much time one can put in a month and the availability of the job

I disagree with the price drop to N65/ltr.

My opinion is that government should break the monopoly created by the few importers of these products, then allow the sector to be regulated by market forces. That I mean even if petroleum products would be sold in the open market like palm oil, better.

Our problems is this cycle of monopoly.

This same GEJ increased the minimum wage to 18,000 naira don't forget. Some governors shouting change today has neither allowed the minimum wage to be paid nor passed PIB.

one barrel of crude oil is now below 50$

One barrel of crude if refine is equivalent to 150 liters of fuel.

Do the maths

Why can't we own a refinery?

If we refine this crude oil in nigeria there will be no need spending money for imported fuel.

We could simply buy locally refine fuel for 20naira.

Oil thefts steals 400,000 barrel per day.

And nigeria only need free 250,000 barrel per days to power our economy, but only few people enrich themselves with GEJ.

This will only make us to spend for refining cost and by then it will be around 10naira if crude oil is free.

This will make our economy more stronger and the poor will feel the impact of a government. No robbery and kidnapping.

to power electricity and the whole nigeria economy is 250,000 a day. Oil thefts steals 400,000 per day.

Jonathan failed nigerians

Pump Price of Petrol for Oil Exporting Countries in the World as @ 19/01/2015 : in naira1.
Venezuela - 3.732.
Syria - 9.333.
Libya - 22.394.
Saudi Arabia - 29.855.
Kuwait - 46.656.
Qatar, Iran, Algeria and Bahrain - 48. 517. Sudan - 63.44

Nigeria is in the 5th position as a Major Oil Exporting Country, Venezuela is number 8, Kuwait is in the 13th position, Libya is in number 15, Qatar and Algeria are in positions 14 and 16 respectively. Nigeria is selling Petrol officially at 87 naira per liter and some gullible Nigerians are rejoicing. When shall we grow up? When shall our leaders b accountable GEJ & FG should come out and inform Nigerians on how thet arrived at the 87 naira per liter pump price you want us all to so much celebrate. As for me I don't worship mediocrity. Nigerians wake up. #‎NigeriaDecides2015

Minimum wage per month for a full time job in Nigeria=N18,000
Note: some people earn much less.

minimum wage in USA according to OP = $8/hr.
Full time job is circa 40hours/week.
40*8=320
There are 4 weeks in a normal calendar month.
320*4=$1,280

Let's use exchange rate of N175=$1
therefore, $1,280*175= N224,000/month.

Minimum wage / month in Nigeria= N18,000
Minimum wage / month in USA = N224,000

Definitely since there is increase in Dollar value;the price of World petrol would automatically fall but could remain constant or higher compare to some currency of which naira is!

D question to be asked is how creative has our government been to reduce the pump price by#10?
It should have risen higher since Dollar is now more expensive to naira!

However;I wonder why most people claims its all propangada;if called so?Be it!Its all improvement!
