Those who claim to be showing the most concern, are the same people bickering at one another, derailing the thread and still begging for the thread not to be derailed.
.
No coordination.
Sadly, people have forgotten that DJ follows d thread too.
.
If we are done helping DJ, lets say it and hands off. Probably close the thread too.
.
But if we care about DJ as much as we claim to, or as much as we did at d very beginning, we would put our differences aside and attempt to coordinate efforts to save a life.
.
The goal from d beginning has been to Save a life.
When did that change?

Thanks for letting us know that stopping people from picking on others for their opinion and telling them to allow others have a say too is called "bickering" where you come from. Loving your definition of coordination too. Thanks AS YOU REMEMBER THAT GOD IS THE FINAL JUDGE.

Thread is still moving on as you can see from the last update and people hanging around are waiting for response to Babyosisi, Olu4life, Twichinnie and Originalsly's query!!! Unless it is a crime to ask questions/expect answers too?

@Busybody2 I salute this your memory o! Chei! Reading through my mentions, I was like, "Me, caution Dr finn. Who in God's beautiful earth is that one kwa? I could have sworn I've never come across that username until I utilised the search engine. You are the type like Mr Jarus' grandpa that will effortlessly give a detailed account about the things that happened decades past. Its a gift.

Ishilove is now a supermod? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked when did this happen? and nobody gave me drink o

@emmysexxy, since you have chosen not to speak on this case again, please uphold your decision. The more you post, the more you get people confused and irritated because you really are not helping matters. We are all here sake of one individual, I have asked you to please make a suggestion assuming whatever info you have is too heavy for your fingers to type, you can make a suggestion on what can be done. Its very possible that those who are with him have not viewed the case from that your angle, that way, they will be pointed aright and things will only get better for every one. Please, do this for posterity sake. As it is, you have not given any suggestion, neither have you said anything yet. You have just made us aware of your existence. (No offence)

@DJdola, I see you! Its great reading from you. Even in the well, it is still well. It is well with you. You are a brave man.

I honestly would rather see the next post as an update or a way forward for DJ's next post.

We can all pick sides and take apart each others words for scrutiny but to what purpose? To see if that person is talking to us or about us? Is that why we are here? Is someone using another handle or not...will that cure cancer? How will that help DJ or shorten the number of post we have to go through to seive for useful information?

Pls let's just let all these side attraction stop for now. Its good to have light hearted distractions once in a while on such serious threads as this, but we've drawn this last one too long and it isn't light hearted.

I'm pretty sure we mentioned he wanted to be an outpatient against our recommendation in one of our earlier updates.

He hasn't been recommended for admission at the specialist cancer hospital

UPDATE!!!

As promised, we visited the hospital on Monday (15/12/2014) to express our growing concerns with respect to the perceived slow pace as far as getting a definitive diagnosis is concerned.

We were able to extract the following Information (Please see summary below) from his doctors:

‎Hammed was first brought in from Eruwa about a month ago, he presented with progressive weight loss, abdominal swelling and lower back pain.

Based on the combination of the swelling and lower back pain, there were four options which were considered

1. malignancy
2. Advanced retroviral disease
3. Liver Disease
4. Abdominal Tuberculosis

The first thing was to do a retroviral test which showed no viral disease.

The next step was a test of kidney and liver functions respectively which showed they were about average more or less and thus that was eliminated

In addition, other tests (both routine and sophisticated) have been held and so far were only indicative.

The next step was to refer Hamed to a gastroenterologist for the liver biopsy where it was decided he be drained first.

After draining and before the biopsy (which was not held), a surface lump was sighted via physical examination and scans.

The thought of the specialist was then to do a laparoscopy (a minimally invasive procedure) to remove the superficial lump.

However he was brought back to Life Specialist.

Based on the drained fluid, a cytology of the fluid was held.

In the meantime, a regimen to embattle abdominal tuberculosis was embarked upon Tuesday which has accounted for the improvement in his physical condition

The thinking here is that while the results of tests are awaited, this is a no risk step which will pay dividends if the diagnosis is abdominal TB and at least provide some healing if not.

The result of the cytology  showed a presence of cancerous cells but no idea of the primary source just yet

NEXT STEPS

A. the results of the CT scan on the abdominal area is awaited. he hopes to follow up with the lab and get this tomorrow

If this does not provide the primary source, there is need for additional scans so as to identify the source and then the stage

B. Once the primary source, the relevant course of treatment can be embarked upon

Immediate Challenges:
Hammed is now feeling stronger than ever and in turn wants to return home as he is growing bored of sitting about the hospital doing nothing. We do sympathise with him as well as happy that his condition has at least gotten better if compared to the way it was weeks back.

As much as we feel the best way to approach this is by him getting a definitive diagnosis and in turn proceed on an agreed treatment plan, we understand his growing frustrations and thus might have to reluctantly allow him to turn into a day patient. He has assured us that he will present himself as of when needed and we will continue to work with him to provide a lasting solution.

PS: We are impressed with the visual state of Hammed as he now looks much better. His face looks fresher and he is generally more optimistic for the future

Update 20th December ‎

First and foremost we would like to thank each and everyone for the concern shown in the past few days. We understand and appreciate the interest shown in the getting of DJ back to his feet and appreciate this as we all have equal stake in it.

We have listened and will continue to listen as success to us is seeing him pain free.

Having said the above, DJ has had to check himself back into the hospital this morning as he felt a bit of discomfort over the night.

Our field worker was able to meet with him at the hospital and spoke to the doctor.

The results from th‎e cytology and the CT scan has been examined and they have referred him to an oncologist.

They said we have two choices in this case, we either use the teaching hospital (in which case he will have to wait until they end their strike) or we use Lakeshore Cancer Center(LCC) in VI.

Upon this we took the results to LCC to make enquiries

‎These are the results of our enquiries at LCCs

• Their oncologist is not around and wont be around until Monday so we have booked an appointment for noon on Monday which we will have to bring Hamed ‎ along

• we have dropped the test results and our details  and they said they will call u‎s later to confirm our appointment.

• They are majorly an out patient facility and so they do not admit except in cases where the patient needs chemo

• They charge 10k for registration and 60k for consultation and palliatives.

PS: The figures below is an high level breakdown of expenditure and balance at hand.

Naira Account:
Total Donation =2,711,628
Total Spent =960,000
Balance =1,751,628

Paypal Account:£1110 + $929
Balance=

‎We have been requesting for steer and direction on this case but only the following have been gotten so far

1. Ask the doctors for the probability of a cancer diagnosis . This is done now.

2. Open a new thread to get a doctor who can support the team. This will be done soon

The following are the key issues again

1. Since the consensus on the forum is that the first hospital is not satisfactory, we need a place where he can be stabilized pending when he can be flown abroad for treatment

2. Should we start treatment at the LCC

 3. Funds are needed for this venture either at LCC or abroad

Your steer is needed.

A family member using his phone? Why would any family member do that? Shouldn't they be the first to cry out for help?

People should fear God o. Is it not the same DJ I'm in contact with? He slumped and was taken to unknown hospital? Hian. In his dream or real life?

I say emmysexy is an alternate account. You guys can send volunteers to pay DJ a visit...a non-TEHN member preferably.
