Nairaland Opinion Needed- What Do You Think About Election Postponement? by olapluto(m): 11:17am On Feb 05, 2015
I do not see any reason for the elections to be postponed. However, I have my reservations regarding the card reader.
1. Does it run on batteries? How long do the batteries last or how will it be powered?
2. Have adhoc staffs being taught on how it works?
3. Is it fool proof?

These reasons do not warrant a shift in election date though. INEC also have NEVER hinted at postponement, although in 2011 it was shambles at the 1st attempt.
What do you think?
PS. stay on the topic and pls avoid talking about any candidate.

Frankly speaking, The INEC is not ready to handle this election. There are confirmed reports of disenfranchisement by political parties. They facts are true.

Prof. JEGA should as a matter of urgency address this issue that has become a pain in the bum.

Personally, I will love the elections to hold this February but the truth can not be swept under the carpet. I really wonder what the INEC has been doing since.

A shift is an option to get INEC ready but if they insist that they are, no one should complain about the aftermath of the elections.

My 4 cents.

Both of you (Truth24, Dunkem21) are paid by the Presidency to spill rubbish! We are ready and there is nothing you can do to postpone it by the grace and intervention of God. We are all watching!

Disenfranchisement in what way? I have not seen any proof of INEC favouring any political party. I dont think INEC can know the political affiliation of voters from the information on the voters card.
It is worthy of note that majority of analysts who go on TV to seek postponement are from the group that attended the national conference. Most of them are also Southerners. Only governing Northerner who's asked for postponement so far is the Adamawa state 'interim' governor.

Chai, I wish.

Please God grant this wish.

If the presidency give me only N100k, I will overturn APC on NL.

I swear.

On Topic, If you read my comments, you will see that I am in full support of the February elections but the truth remains that INEC is not ready to handle this all important assignment.

No to postponement! They already know they're losing and now they want to cause chaos. Everyone has been preaching no election violence, postpone and see what's going to happen. Its a very bad plan

An assignment, bro.

Walk around and interact with 50 different people and confirm if they have their PVC's. How will the people vote if they don't have voters card?

The INEC should be clear on their stance on whether people should use their temporary cards to vote or declare public holidays to ensure that every eligible Nigerian collects his voice. .
..or put the election on a future date to tie up loose ends.

Those are the options on ground.

We can not afford to toy with this lifetime decision.

INEC says the cards are all printed and only awaiting collection. APC state governors have declared today and tommorrow as public holidays for collection. My household have collected their PVCs and readying for 14th, although I know many people still yet to collect.
66% of voters have collected their PVCs. That is very commendable. If the figure can reach 75%, then I think INEC is good to go. I am sure that by Monday, most people in APC controlled states would have collected their PVCs.
Will there be any need for postponement again?

INEC should distribute the cards. What is the meaning of awaiting collection? I respect you for saying the truth that many people are yet to collect. I will put the figures @50%.

If INEC achieves 80% of the total distribution, then we are good to go ..but I am not seeing it happen in 7 days. I am being realistic not necessarily pessimistic.

Do you care only about the APC states? ..Is INEC being partisan?

The OP begged us to play on points without advertising any candidate or party ..

Official figures as at Wednesday night was 67% collected. With the public holiday today and tommorrow, I expect collection to go up to around 73%. I am also happy you put a figure to it. If Inec achieves 80% of distribution, then elections are good to go. I will say 75% though. That will be a 9% goal to achieve. Not too much for 9 days since INEC chairman has promised to extend the collection to 13th Feb if need be.
