Don't know for sure what the law is but in almost every country Insurance is legally necessary. If you damage someone's property or injure them it is necessary for their compensation.

To drive without insurance in the UK is a very serious criminal matter!

Trust me, FRSC will always check your tires to see if you are running on expired tires. Ensure you are always on the right side of the law.

Don't mess with them ,they are more ruthless,I paid 35k fine for a Drivers licence I got from FRSC in 2013,they said its fake,b4 I said jack,they've booked me and my car was towed away.Anyway,I,ve gotten the new DL after months of waiting at the Licensing office,now my documents tight.

Oga, it's a third party insurance, not for you but for other road users. If you mistakenly scratch my car, then your insurance company will pay me/repair it for me. It's just for safety and cautions.
Quite unfortunate that third party insurance structure don't work here. In fact nothing works here. Those companies are just getting money for doing nothing.

Even the federal cops that stops daily asked for them and I simply told him it's the duty of FRSC, that he can take me to anywhere and I will maintain my stance. He left me after checking the necessary papers. It's only fears that kills us in this country
