Nigeria: APC Invites Jonathan (07-Aug-2013)
President Goodluck Jonathan is welcome to the All Progressives Congress (APC), if he is tired of the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), interim national chairman of the APC Chief Bisi Akande stated in Abuja yesterday.
The presidential candidate of the party for the 2015 general election will emerge after the party's convention in December this year, he disclosed.
Akande said that the party is not foreclosing the chances of anybody joining the party, adding: "We listen to some people talking about presidency; no, we have not reached that stage at all. Our major preoccupation is to set up the structure of our party -- the All Progressives Congress. It is after that, maybe in November or December when we hold our national convention, where our national executive will be elected; there is no idea about who becomes president, governor or anything. But the only exception is Anambra State and a committee is already working on that. And we are going to register our members in Anambra State. We are going to conduct congresses and elect a candidate that will contest on the platform of the APC."
"In Nigeria today we don't know any other APC apart from this All Progressives Congress, and we don't contemplate anything and nothing will happen to move this APC out of place. We remain a party and we shall remain a party forever to rule this country Nigeria," Akande added.
Akande, who spoke yesterday during the party's maiden press conference held at the party's national secretariat, said the major pre-occupation of the party now is to set up its structures and lay a solid foundation from the wards to the national level.

JONATHAN's REPLY
2015: APC’s invitation shows Jonathan’s best man for the job – Presidency
“I think it (the APC’s invitation) is a compliment. What Chief Akande has said in essence is that President Jonathan is the best man for the job.
“They formed a party only to realise they don’t have a candidate. We thank him for his acknowledgment of the President’s leadership qualities, but he (the President) is happy where he is.
“We thank Chief Akande for his expression of confidence in President Jonathan’s credibility but the President is happy where he is, as a member and leader of the PDP to which he remains loyal, and under the umbrella of which he is leading a transformation agenda for the betterment of the lives of Nigerians” he said.

If Jonathan had accepted the invitation of APC in 2013, he would have been their Progressive Presidential candidate, blaming the PDP for leadership failure since 1999.
If Jonathan had accepted the hypocritical offer, it will either mean Buhari will defect to PDP to fly its flag for 2015 or he will retire to Daura to play with his grandkids.
What kind of change is APC talking about? A change from umbrella to broom or a change of service?

If they so believe in Jonathan why can't they defect to PDP and collapse APC unstable structure? Why are they wasting Buhari's time when they seem not to believe in him?

I cannot believe OP is so naïve that he cannot spot a tongue in cheek or sarcastic back and forth exchange.

Let a progressive take a little out of his busy time to educate the rather igonarant or mischeivous FFK OP. Akande was making a mockery of the incessant crisis situation in the PDP. Considering that GEJ is the President, Akande had to throw that jab but diplomatically, before he could be attacked by the DSS for disreputing the office of the Presidency.
GEJ's handlers did not decipher the depth of the jab and assumed Akande's focus is on GEJ porting to APC. Rather, Akande's thrust was on the problems bedevilling the ruling party as against the relative peace and camaraderie in the main opposition party.

One final point OP. GEJ by his poor leadership has insulted the intellect of the Izon nation which you claim to belong already. That you, instead of salvaging that wrong impression in this forum, is even making the Izon look worse from your rather jejune analysis is a shame. Biko sit up and stop making Isaac Boro turn continously in his grave..

With your level.of intelligence you should understand and know sarcasm when you see one.

If they so loved him I think they should have adopted him as their flagbearer just like APGA and UPN and other mushroom parties did.

If you love your new found party well I think you should concentrate on the positives and help promulgate and propagate their achievements to people who are undecided and free loafers to be convinced.

End your obsession with the APC, you could do a better job than all this irrelevance. Don't you think so?

Go ye and preach the word

APC thought Jonathan could be saved from the impending doom

But the wide path (corruption, power by force, stealing, immunity, endorsing terrorists and terrorism, bunkering) was too attractive for GEJ

And so, many were called, few honored the call, even fewer were chosen

GEJ was not chosen

And so, lost his soul to the wide path and abyss of hell (pdp)

I don't know how the subject relate to Izon nation. I wonder whether GEJ is Izon President or Nigeria President that someone will rope in Izon. Anyway, I won't join issues with anyone. Like you rightly said, Izons are not slaves!

No matter how intelligent you are, once you support an ediot/dimwit, you can never rise beyond their foolishness.

Go and figure why an Abati has suddenly become an Aso Rock photographer these days.

So a tongue-in-cheek statement is what this 'alatenuje' aka 'I-Need-Protection' poster is basing his silly thread upon?

Really? Fact, ACN blasted Amaechin in 2012, today he's their campaign DG.
Incumbent PDP Govs that moved to APC are given return ticket eg Ahmed of Kwara.
APC Senators that were PDP before they lost out got return ticket eg Barnabas Germade (fmr pdp boss)
Umana Umana of Akwa Ibom that has been part of Akpabio governt since 2007 got ticket for Governorship
The list is inexhaustable. So why will that of President Jonathan be different considering the norms in APC?
Let's be honest abeg

Why I support Buhari:

"ECONOMY
Inherited a dwindling economy,
1. Paid of $50m loan within few days of assumption and cleared the country's debt
2. Reduced Inflation from 23% to 3.21% within 20months.
3. Nigeria's GDP by Purchasing Power Parity was $941.2, it Grew by 8.56 %
3. Refused to devalue the Naira
4. curbing imports of needless goods, curtailing oil theft and using counter trade policy to barter seized illegally bunkered crude oil for needful goods like machineries, enabling it to export above its OPEC quota.
5. Under Buhari, Hoarded Goods were Sold at prices below market.

CORRUPTION:
1. Senator Sabo Bakin Zuwo, The Civilian Governor of Kano State was jailed for 300Years because $4.5 million was said to be found "stacked up" in Zuwo's home when it was searched by the new military government. He died in 1989
2. Vice President Alex Ekwueme was jailed of corruption. Stockpiles of money ranged from $56,000 found at his home
3. Fmr Bendel Governor Ambrose Alli was jailed for 100years for misappropriating funds belonging to Bendel State to the tune of N983,000. The Money was meant for road project but he donated it to his Party. He was later freed when Sir Gabriel Igbenedion paid fine to the Government.
4. A total of 4000 exGovernment officials submitted themselves to be tried for Corruption.Over 600 were Jailed Convicted and Jailed.
5. Many High profile Government officials, Businessmen, foreigners were jailed for one corrupt practice or the other.
6. Political office Holders, Businessmen, Contractors, civil servants and many others shunned corruption like a Plague

INSURGENCY
1. Maitatsine Group founded by Maitatsine Marwa, a Koranic scholar, rejected the hadith and the sunnah and regarded the reading of any other book but the Koran as paganism raised its head in 1979 during the Administration of President Shehu Shagari after he was contained by the Murtala and Obasanjo Administrations. Maitatsine spoke against the use of radios, watches, bicycles, cars and the possession of more money than necessary. Churches, Market, Police Formations, Government buildings etc was attacked leaving over FIVE thousand dead btw 1979 and 1981 (including Maitatsine). The Group moved to Kano, Borno, Kaduna, Gombe and environs. Over 4,000 people died(65% were insurgents). Buhari Crushed the Insurgency COMPLETELY within 16months. The 2i/c fled to Cameroon and was arrested in 2004.

OTHER SECURITY
1. There was high rate of armed robbery during Shagari's regime. Buhari stepped it, brought an end to armed robbery.
2. Introduced NURTW to checkmate "One Chance" and subsequently brought law and order.
3. Drug traffikers were executed.

PETROLEUM INFRASTRUCTURE
1. As NNPC Chairman, He was the man that Initiated and signed the construction contract of the existing Warri and Kaduna refineries. Two of the ONLY 3 Refineries In Nigeria. As at that time, Nigeria had just 1 Refinery-Portharcourt Refinery, established in 1965.

THE PRESS
He Instituted decree 2 and Decree 4 that was aimed at gaging the Press and Banned street protests. This is his only low but he was honest in his actions.

N/B: I deliberately refused to including Road Projects and others so as not to make it too bulky and boring".
