Question: Did Jesus Read The Bible? by Rilwayne001: 4:40pm On Feb 28, 2015
1. Did Jesus read the bible? provide your proof

2. Was he given the bible or the gospel?

Mat 4:23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

‘ Mark 1:14-15 The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel’"

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;

3. Did he read the bible or book of Esaias?

Luke 4:16-20 "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias .And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him."

Some muslims and their display of ignorance!
When is a will read out?Is it when the owner of the will dies or when he is still alive?
An understanding of what i just asked gives the needed answer.

Even the quran was not compiled while Muhammed was alive.

Now what Gospel was Jesus preaching? is it the gospel of paul? or the contradicting gospels of mark mattew luke and john

An understanding of what i just asked gives the needed answer.

Nope. unless you are saying that the gospel jesus preached is inconsistent and contradicting.

Even the quran was not compiled while Muhammed was alive.

Quran has been in writing during his time, though wasnt compiled together during his time.

Christ is the Gospel and without the finished work of the Cross we wouldn't have the Bible.

In the days of my Lord and Saviour the Bible was not yet gathered into one single book but parts(The Old Testament) were already written on Scrolls and that was what my Lord read.

Hallelujah.

I spoke about a will as an analogy. It's obvious you didn't understand it.
There is a knowledge of Jesus Christ and even the best of your islamic scholars cannot understand it.
Prophet John( bin Zakariyah as you call him) said ,he that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth:he that cometh from heaven is above all.And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth;and no man receiveth his testimony. He that believeth hath seth to seal that God is truth(John 3)

You keep debating about unnecessary things;where Jesus was born,if he read the bible bla bla bla.......
Have you found knowledge in Him?

I never doubt the knowledge of Jesus, what I doubt is what his alleged apostle wrote about him, since he didnt read it nor edit it. do you get me now

You know the problem I have with islamic knowledge.Islam denies that the gospel of Jesus in the bible was corrupted but the same islam cannot provide the original/authentic gospel of Jesus.
I think that's a big failure on it's part.

The Septuagint was the first translation
of the Hebrew Bible; and was made in
the third century B.C. by Jewish scribes,
who were direct descendents of those
trained in Ezra's Great Synagogue of
Jerusalem. They were complete experts
in the text, being very well versed in
Hebrew and Greek.
http://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-study/tips/what-bible-did-jesus-use-11638841.html
Matthew 21:42
Jesus said to them, "Have you never
read in the Scriptures: "'The stone the
builders rejected has become the
cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and
it is marvelous in our eyes'?

Here,Jesus was quoting the psalm
Psalm 118:22
The stone the builders rejected has
become the cornerstone;

the same psalm which was used on the day of triumph when Christ was saluted with cries of "Hosanna!"

"These are My words which I spoke
to you while I was still with you, that
all things which are written about
Me in the Law of Moses and the
Prophets and the Psalms must be
fulfilled ." (Luke 24:44)

All the prophecy were fullfiled in the gospel.

Jesus referred to Psalm 82:6 as "Law": "Jesus answered them, "Has it not been
written in your Law, 'I said, you are
gods'?" John 10:34.

Why this major prophet were not in the quran? Isaiah, jerimaih ezekiel elijah hosea, this are the prophet that confirmed the coming of the messiah.

the gospel details the life and deed of jesus,jesus did not write a book,if he did then provide it let read.how is it possible for Jesus to read in a book how he will die? Doesn't this mean he did not write a book ,mark,matthew,john and Luke were all inspired by the holy ghost but if you insist the bible is corrupt then answer this questions, I ask your brother but he couldn't answer it;

1.when was the bible corrupted?
If it was before islam, why would Allah
refer Muhammad to something that is
Corrupted to make confirmation?
2 If it was after Muhammad had died,
how was he able to receive the revelation that the Scripture (Torah and Injeel) had been corrupted ?
3. The quran confirms that the Scripture
was a clear proof in writings. This means
there were copies in circulation. How
possible all copies vanished without
anyone having a copy anywhere? You
should by now discover a lie is told.
4. Why would God be so weak as to allow man throw away His words before He would vow to protect the subsequent
revelations? Did He learn from experience?
I tell you the truth,if you answer this

When Quran said 'Book' revealed to Jesus, do you actually think Quran is talking about somethng tangible?. When Quran speaks of Book given to Moses, Jesus Muhammad(PBUT) it's talking about revealation that came down, that's, inspiration. It was never meant for sheet of paper. However, for preservation purposes, God Almighty knew that in the future words will transcribed.

So when Bible speaks of Jesus preaching Gospel, I dont expect him walking around places with Book (sheet of paper) in his hands. No that's not what it means. When Quran speaks of Books revealed to Jesus, it means the true message he was sent with to deliver to the children of Israel. That message is called "Injil" i:e Gospel. That's the message Quran is talking about. When Quran talks about they tampered and distorted it means they the people distorted his message which he was sent.

Now did Mathew, Mark, Luke and John write down Gospel in the lifetime of Jesus?. None was written down in his lifetime. Mark is said to be earliest and was written 65-75AD. Mathew and Luke , which were written independently using Mark and at least one other shared source(now lost) that scholars refer to as "Q". Both Mathew and Luke seem to have been written 80AD or more. The latest of the Gospel is John, which seems to have been written no earlier than 90AD judging from internal evidence, thought could have been as late as 120AD. So basically, the point is Jesus events were written down long after him. None, I mean none was written in his lifetime.

The writings in the New Testament which were closest in the time of death of Jesus was letters of Paul. Only seven (7) of these are considered genuinely written by Paul himself.

WHAT IS KNOWN OF THE AUTHORS? I:E Mathew and co

In all cases, very little.Much is known about Paul because he gave few details of his life in his letters. He seems to have been Jew from the tribe of Benjamin who was born in Tarsus now known as Turkey and who studied in Jerusalem before converting to the Jesus sect as a result of kind visionary experience.

Are there contradictions and incosistencies in the bible or not?

lets start from here
Mat 4:23 JESUS WENT throughout Galilee,
teaching in their synagogues, preaching
the gospel of the kingdom, and healing
every.disease and sickness among the
people.

If Jesus write the gospel, no need to made mention of his name, the first word indicate, it was not Jesus that wrote it but mark. When someone is written your story, how will he wrote it? By writing your name ,but if you are the one writing the story of your life, no need for you to include your name because the readers know the book is about you .

Mark wrote what the holy spirit revealed to him. Jesus did not speak His own words, but the words that the Father gave Him (John 8:38-42; 12:49-50; 14:24). His message was not primarily about Himself, but rather the good news that the Father ordained to be announced on earth.

While Jesus Christ was categorically the
most important individual ever to walk
this earth, the Bible shows clearly that
the gospel that Jesus brought was not
simply about Himself. Read His
statements, and prove this for yourself:

» And Jesus went about all Galilee,
teaching in their synagogues,
preaching the gospel of the kingdom,
and healing all kinds of sickness and
all kinds of disease among the
people. ( Matthew 4:23)

If you are good in English language, you will understand what this verses mean. The inspired Word of God makes it abundantly plain: The "good news" that Jesus Christ brought was about the
Kingdom of God! The "gospel of Jesus
Christ" is simply the message of good
news that Jesus preached not a
message about Jesus. Understand?

You are funny man. Sahih International used "choice of words". Check others like Yusuf Ali, he used the phrase "Book". Shakir used "scripture". Khan also used "Book". If you think God sent down paper Books from heavens, then you would believe Cow jumped from the moon too. You are so amazing bro

So you also believe "Book" given to Jesus was literal?. If it was, then as a baby boy in craddle from the verse you quoted up there, Rabbis could have grabbed the Book from him. You people are so funny.

When he said he was given a Book means inspiration, message etc. It's like figurative exprssion. Geez! you fellas no go kill pezon grin

Clear example of this expression could be cited using Moses and Muhammad (PBUT). We know in Islam that God revealed a Book to Moses called Tawrat but Quran says that God spoke to Moses directly i:e inspiration http://quran.com/search?q=Allah%20spoke%20to%20Musa (4:164)
And we know Jubril(Gabriel) dictated God's words to Muhammad. Is that a Book with hard cover? grin You guys are so fantastic. You dont seem to understand figuratively

Gospels Not Written By Matthew, Mark, Luke or John

Christians believe that the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) were written by those whose names appear in the title of the books. Most also believe that they were written in the same order as they appear in the Bible.

The Truth is …

Even though the Gospels go under the names of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, they were, in fact, written anonymously. These names first appeared in the second century and were assigned to the anonymous writings to give the writings apostolic authority. The Gospel of Mark was written before any of the other canonical gospels and was written after the fall of the second temple which occurred in 70 CE.

The Gospel of Mark is the most important of the synoptic gospels because it is the primary source for Matthew and Luke. Seventy six percent of Mark is reproduced almost word-for-word in both Matthew and Luke. An additional 18% of Mark is reproduced in Matthew but not in Luke, and an further 3% of Mark is in Luke but not in Matthew. This means that 97% of Mark is reproduced in Matthew and/or Luke.

Matthew contains 606 of Mark’s 661 verses. Luke contains 320 of Mark’s 661 verses. Of the 55 verses of Mark which Matthew does not reproduce, Luke reproduces 31; therefore there are only 24 verses in all of Mark not reproduced somewhere in Matthew or Luke.

An excellent presentation of who wrote the Gospels presented by a died-in-the-wool-true-believer is presented here: “Who Wrote The Synoptic Gospels“. The diagram below is lifted from his writings.
