You can play Skyrim and The Witcher even on a cheap core i3 laptop from the last 2-3 years. You'll only run into problems playing more demanding games like Shadow of Mordor or The Witcher 2 and 3.

If you want to play new games, the most cost effective solution is to build a cheap desktop with either an i5 or a cheap AMD processor (quadcore or higher). Then buy a low end graphics card like this or this and you're set. If you don't mind turning down the graphics and resolution a bit, you should be okay for the next 4 or 5 years or as long as the current gen consoles last. These days, even low-end PCs significantly outperform the new consoles at the same price.

And if you have the money, you can spend $500-700 and build a monster gaming rig that will play anything at 1440p/60fps.

The Uncharted series is pretty sweet, they're cinematically stunning and the characters are just awesome. Personally, I believe Uncharted: Among Thieves is the best in the PS3 trilogy, the opening sequence on the dangling train is still one of my favourite "WTH did you do to get here Drake?" scenes. Uncharted is basically Indiana Jones without the whip & fedora, and a male Lara Croft (they came out to have a good time, but they're feeling so attacked right now). Then of course, the series is also known for its awesome action scenes, that any film would kill for. The falling building in Among Theieves, the sinking ship in Drake's Deception, the quips Drake makes when he's about to get into situations he knows he'll hate, the father-son relationship of Victor "Sully" Sullivan & Nathan Drake, the actual chemistry between all the actors and their characters. If they finally get the Uncharted series to become a film franchise, it could potentially be a blockbuster if done right. They could just release the actual game footage and cut scenes as an animated action adventure, it would sell well.

I haven't played Infamous, but the demo was good enough to make me buy a copy, which I've got it somewhere in my room, at some point I'll get to it. Plus, I've always heard good things about the series.

If you don't mind turning down some settings and resolution, I don't see why not. Even the ancient gtx 560Ti can run Crysis 3 at high settings if you turn down the resolution. A 750Ti outperforms the new consoles and since consoles typically hold back graphics, its likely to remain relevant for a long time.

If you want to play with ultra graphics at 1080p/60fps, you probably need to save up for a Radeon 290 or GTX 970, but for medium to high at 900p a 750Ti is fine for the next few years.

I don't tink God of War series will make it to current gen. Its kinda stale already. PS4 needs a new franchise
