Lol...cool story. Even deep enough to say French design. You wouldnt happen to know which French company designed it for us? Surely there has to be some information on the net regarding this....i mean, you must have read this somewhere. Please share.

the platform is 80% french made

m.engineeringnews.co.za/article/the-rebirth-of-the-rooivalk-2011-05-20
some of its components are manufactured in South Africa under licence by Denel Aviation

i thought this issue has been dealt with already

Nope, I did not make it up. The Rooivalk has proven to be a failure at multiple bid processes.

Fact, the Rooivalk is a french Helicopter. French expertise, French components, french design.
Failure has nothing to do with the capabilities of the weapons platform, but the marketing and offer side of things.

Just look at the French right now in India regarding the Rafael deal.

Foreign components reduce the cost of development. You design something and to cut costs you contract foreign countries to supply certain systems.

But if those suppliers feel you're breaking the current contract they have with you, they'll threaten pulling out of the contract.

Please just kill yourself. Please. Do you think our defence minister gets given a budget, and then when she feels like it just decides who will get what?

Contained within a defence budget are the different allocations for salaries, operations, new equipment etc etc. There is nothing VERY VERY different. South Africa also has a Special Defence Account used to aquire weapons. The Special Defence Account is used to purchase weapons that are considered sensitive and secret. Which is why i always laugh when you say South African weapons are all on the internet to see.

Whether the funds are separate or contained within the bulk of the budget, there is nothing very very different. In both Nigeria and South Africa's cases, funds have been allocated for a specific purpose. But because you're a troll you ignore the fact that the cases are the same.

Fact is that we see Nigeria buying new weapons and we see South Africa grounding the current weapons it has for lack of maintenance money....sign of no cash....proof of financial crisis.

SANDF is broker than broke

The French company that designed the rooivalk for us, please sir.

Out with it.

The request from Patchy was simple enough.

Which weapons are grounded?

So you missed the part where South Africa bought 236 brand new world class IFVs? OR 6 new warships? or heavy weight torpedoes? or air-to-air missiles? or 40 000 more soldiers (the size of the army is going to double)?

lol, whatever

South African literacy rate is over 93%

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/fields/2103.html

Nope, South African literacy rate is about 40 % and much lower than Nigeria. Your white apartheid masters denied you education as "lesser human beings".

Literacy rate 93% includes illiterate local herbalists and pig farm laborers who speak one of the 10 local languages by birth as mother tongue, they have never been to school, yet they are deceitfully counted as literate for speaking a language like Zulu, etc because you have 10 such local language of illiterates legally recognized by ANC government along with English language the 11th official language.

Only the South Africans who speak English and graduated high school are literate, the rest are illiterate local language speakers and they form about 60 % of South African population.

Your real literary level is about 40 % in Soweto nation, thanks to 100 years of white-man's oppression of your fathers gringrin

South Africa NEVER bought 236 Badger IFVs, you have ONLY about 6 for experimental tests.

You bought no new warships, missiles, torpedoes blah blah blah.....name the weapons and country of sale, and year of delivery, with photos of those 6 new ships in your navy.

You think we Nigerians are fools here that you can bamboozle with your tales by moonlight?

You need citation for that? Then ask me for citation to prove the capital of South Africa is Pretoria

Speaking does not mean literate. You have to be able to read and write it.

Again - no facts to substantiate what you are saying.

Government just said they want more - link posted and everything.

Are you blind?

The Rooivalk’s landing gear is unmodified. The main landing gear was developed and manufactured in France to South African specifications, while the tail landing gear was designed, developed and manufactured in South Africa by Denel.

The rotor blades, part of the main gearbox and part of the tail gearbox (including two bevel gears) are of French design but manufactured in South Africa under licence by Denel Aviation. The rotor head, however, is made in France. The driveshaft for the tail rotor was designed and manufactured in South Africa.

"There can be no doubt that the image of the Rooivalk has suffered as a result of misleading and exaggerated official propaganda in the early years of the programme."

Propaganda gulped by Patches689.

The development of the Rooivalk proved to be technically very challenging, and budget cuts only compounded the problems. The original plan to build 36 production aircraft (plus the four prototypes) was abandoned and, in the end, only 12 were built.

Your initial order for 36 Rooivalk attack Helicopters were cut because you were BROKE(like we don't continue to see this with the SANDF almost on a daily basis), and not because of some cooked up doctrine.
