All those shouting iphone battery is good obviously haven't handled, note 4 and driod turbo phones. The only apple product with amazing battery life is the ipad.

For you to get a genuine response to help you make the appropriate choice, you need to here from not just one who's good with modern tech, you need to have a discussion with a tech geek... 0816 9020 273, whatsapp me and i'm ready 24 hrs to answer your questions. Most people here will just give you answes based on personal preference, based on which o.s they like most, some(sadly, unknown to them) are just very ignorant about these things, some are hell bent haters of the iphone or hell bent lovers of the other O.Ses

Glad you decided to stop here.
I use an iPhone 6+ running the latest iOS 8.2 and I'm typing from a first hand experience. I used to be like you, a diehard Android fanboy, believing that iPhones are overpriced piece of shît. Not until I decided to give it a try when the iPhone 6+ came out, the iPhone is a technological marvel. Very fluid and effective. No annoying lags and bugs. Seamless hardware and software integration. The iPhone 6 sports just 1gig of RAM but runs smoother than my Sony Xperia Z2 with 3gb RAM!
If Android works for you, then fine and by all means stick to it, don't come here to post BS about something you know jackshit about. Thanks kiss

Well Said.

Bluetooth pairing with android devices impossible
You cannot download songs or video music except from iTunes.
You need a. Valid credit card or apple pay capability to buy songs or video music from iTunes only.
Ringtones only from iTunes or the iPhone.

Apart from the above issues iPhone is excellent!

I have been using iPhones and iPad from 2008. Have iPhone 5s

OP the fact of the matter is that if your reasons for buying an iPhone are exclusively what you stated in your OP, then you are bound to not like it. Most people here on nairaland and anywhere else that would openly criticize an iPhone have simply not used one and the ones that have and still do probably were limited by things such as data and native tweakability. In my opinion, if you wan use iPhone wella for Naija, you gat geek at some point coz Nigerians like free things and apple does not so you end up looking for ways around different things.
Now iPhones themselves are generally more durable than other phones and that's a fact, my iPhone 3GS that I had had for years just packed up a few months ago and that was because it encountered a terrible drop that led to a problem on the board, if I switch that out, the phone is back again(PS the iPhone 3GS was released in 2009). Not to mention that you get iOS updates steady, imagine an iPhone 4s still getting iOS updates and that phone was released in 2011, I would like to see an android phone from the same year run android 5.0.
If you are not scared to jailbreak, maneuver the file system a little bit and well, be a pirate, then you just as well might stick with Android as the M8 is a pretty good device and this is the reason why a lot of Nigerians have qualms with iphone as well, not forgetting their prices.
By the way OP, I use a LG G2 and until yesterday a blackberry q10 as my main phones and also currently have an iPhone 5c, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s all in my possession for sale so you can be sure I know exactly what I am saying.
You should probably get ahold of an iPhone 5s and use it for a bit before making your decision, but I hope you make the right one wink wink wink
lg g2 aw much?

when you talk about battery lifee, some would swear the iphone is an impotent man when it comes to battery life, some will tell you the iphone is a generating plant (always powered) and both could be speaking from experience on actually haven used an iphone. It depends on the unit you got and how you charged it the first period you got the phone and how you've continuosly been charging it.

The hardware of any iphone or apple products at large are just barely unbeatable
*battery life
*camera
*durability
*strength etc... The only thing you think about when you want to get one is the software.. Every OS has its restrictions , limitations and downsides, just depends if you are willing to overlook the bad in respect of the better aspects

Thanks everyone. Really do appreciate the comments, keep it coming.

Sa, I put on my blackberry WiFi hot-spot on, can an iphone be connected to it and browse the net? This is my main concern.

Thanks once again. Twale to the Mods

Jailbreaking voids the warranty. Dislike unnecessarily tweaking devices.

Man, if you are coming from Blackberry, I'd advice you to go for an iPhone as you may find the Android OS complicated and stressful to use. You come off as someone that isn't so tech savvy. If you don't like voiding the warranty of your device then Android wouldn't make any difference as most of the freedom that comes with it needs it to be rooted which like jailbreaking the iPhone, voids the warranty.
If you want a device you can always rely on, a device that keeps your files safe and ensures your privacy and security, if you don't want to be bugged to death with countless viruses and malewares aimed at stealing your priceless personal info and identity, go for the iPhone.

Yeah, you can tether your iPhone your BB to access the Internet using the hotspot feature.

Coming from Android, iPhone 5s battery will amaze you.

;DIn simple terms

If you are using the phone outside Nigeria iPhone is the bomb!

If you want to use the phone in Nigeria, there is nothing relevant 2 a young 9ja guy that iPhone 6 can do that a Jiayu s3 or Meizu M4 or Xiaomi Note or One Plus One cannot do and they are 3x cheaper!

As far as am concerned for an average Nigerian, iphone is just name!

Check the spec of the phones I mentioned compare them with an iphone 6

Wise up! Iphone no dey impress better people again! Only village girls.

Ma'm if you jailbreak your phone, the above limitations will disappear

I can transfer files via Bluetooth with other phones

I can attach files in mails & send

I can lock individual apps

There are good app stores for jail broken devices, apps u would have bought can be gotten free, no hidden or extra charges

you can download virtually any stuff u want & play so many file format be it music or videos

There is even an app that allows u partition ur iPhone, one partition runs on IOS while the other on android

the list goes on

I think I need your help here. Please help a brother in dire need of your assistance. Pleaseeeee. I have an iPhone 6 plus and using the phone seamlessly as androids seems like a rocket science. Once again, thanks immensely.

I have an Ipad which runs the same os as an iPhone. I have been downloading files of all kinds on it for 4 years. I also send and receive files from my other devices using bluetooth. The App Store is actually the best app store and all other software/phone producers are now trying to copy the functionality of the Apple App Store. The 100mb limit is meant to protect you from wiping out your cellular data allocation on downloading.

You can enjoy most of the fun stuff on an iPhone in Nigeria. Only very few things are not available, for example, Apple Passbook.

You were probably not patient enough to understand the phone.
