The Rivers State Police Command has disputed claims by the state government that some thugs shot at the governor’s convoy on Thursday.

The governor’s spokesperson, David Iyofor, had said the incident happened in Rumuolumeni, Obio Akpor area of Port Harcourt.

However, the Rivers State command spokesperson, Muhammed Ahmad, in a statement said contrary to the report, shots were actually fired from the governor’s convoy.

The police said Mr. Amaechi merely raised false alarm to win public sympathy to back his “bogus” claim of being targeted by assassins.

1. The Rivers State Police Command wishes to react to the news that went viral on both normal and social media quoting David Iyofor, Chief Press Secretary to Rivers State Governor to the effect that gun shots were fired at the convoy of his principal at Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor Local Government.

2. To put the records straight, after a successful and peaceful rally under the close watch of Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer of the area, shots were indiscriminately fired from the convoy of the Governor for reasons best known to them, as against the wispy claim of David Iyofor. No shots were fired at the convoy of the Governor.

3. The false alarm which is the usual penchant of the State Government may not be unconnected with the bogus claim of assassination attempt by his principal that is to just whip up public sympathy.

4. The Command urges politicians to refrain from whipping sentiments by toying with security issues to create needless public panic, where there is none, please.

The type of political drama going on in rivers state with madame Amaechi as the main star is very very dangerous and will lead to loss of life if not stopped

All the actors in this deadly drama should sit down and agree amongst themselves that this is a dangerous game and cancel it.

Whether Amaechi or the CP is lying is not important now,the most important thing is that something is fundementally with that state politically and that thing ahould be fixed before election or as pa buhari will put it blood of dog and babbon will soak

I can still remember though shallowly a story I once read while in primary school about a certain man who raised false alarm dat he was beign attacked by wolves while tending his flocks and his neighbours all rushed out to rescue him only to be disappointed it was a prank afterall....
