The MRAPs are heavily armed though. 3 DShk HMG's on a single system....... that's a language all terrorists understand.

The Ugandans took arming an MRAP to the next level.

True, nice overlaping arks of fire and some serious calliber

I just think the gunners combat effectiveness and situational awareness is greatly reduced.

I doubt the forward facing gunner is even able to use his sights.

"i hate those gun-sheilds"
That was the American thinking until the insurgency heated up in Iraq. After that, it was shields and armour - for the regular forces anyway.

Their sheilds have armoured windows in them... like 60% of their sheild is armored glass

I do not think the gunners situational awareness or least combat effectiveness is affected. They still are the highest "peak"in the battle space and can well spot and shoot efficiently.

I do however agree, the shields are too large.

Not exactly. It is militarily impossible to defeat an insurgency. It is impossible to defeat an idea. However we can curb it to the barest possible minimum.

Operations are still ongoing. Gwoza is only a landwark victory, not an end to operations.

Once this faze is completed, the terrorists would most likely continue with their hit and run tactics. This is where the problem lies.

I don't get why we are still buying alpha jets, what happened to the JF-17 and Su-30? Our air force lacks modern air superiority jets

I like this photo.

Most of the photos released by DHQ were taken hours after ALL the fighting has died down. In this pic, you can sense the anticipation - of the trooper doing the checking, and his wingman, providing cover.

Nop you are totally and 100% wrong they where taken during the moping up operations. And you will be exposed to many I.E.D or bubby-traps. During these operation soldiers are a little bit relaxed during house to house search called moping up, and soldiers take these advantages or opportunity of taking live pictures.

:-)

I said I LIKED the photo and that it showed a sense of danger (the word I used was anticipation). Most OTHER photos from DHQ shows no such danger.

It looks like a paintball gun to be honest, just without the feeder and Co2 canister.

2"Katushas"
3.Steyr trucks with SA-7Grail SAM
4.Namibian Special forces

Out of curiosity...Is the Wolf MK2 armed with what looks like the '2A28 Grom' low pressure gun still able to carry a section/squad of infantry into the battle field so as to still be called Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) or It doesn't carry infantry anymore which would make it more of an Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV) because it isint an APC anymore if its armed with a 73mm gun.

Some Namibian Navy pics

Somewhat disappointing that the Namibian Navy command didn't see it fit to make sure that the NS Elephant is fitted with a Helicopter hanger angry angry. Should they need deploy an embarked helicopter onboard in the near future it would be very difficult to maintain the chopper in the conditions one would find on the landing deck knowing how rough the South Atlantic is.
