I agree wit u. Our dependence on USA for everything makes USA rubbish and and try to dictate our future in Nigeria.

Here is the amusing thing about this article.....

There is a tendency in African countries to blame the white man. This is best summarized in a story Nelson Mandela told of his prison days. One Sunday, Mandela and his prison mates had a visit from an Afrikaans preacher. (This was not the first time said cleric had preached to them). The cleric in the course of his message jokingly stated that the difference between the Blacks and the Whites was that when the Whites have a problem, they sit down and work out a solution; blacks on the other hand...blame the whites.

I find this article very sad....and untruthful.. and unhelpful. Now, I do not like the PDP, and I wish they get voted out this election, but that is not the reason for my hate towards this article.

Recently, I was thinking about four counties....Germany, Japan, Iraq and Libya. All these countries have one thing in common....they were bombed and wrecked by America(in collabo with others) at some point in their lives....then occupied by the same Americans. Ten years later....Germany(both West and East) and Japan....were on the way to development. Iraq is still a mess.

Now, the usual reasons given for Iraq's mess is that it is a CIA plot to destabilse the Arab world...to protect Israel. But something tells me that the CIA does not have a hand in this. Iraq is destabilsed because Iraquis are not a good people. They do not like each other, they hurt each other and they kill and maim each other. All in a bid for power. Somehow.....I raquis are not willing to work together for the common good...unless they are in power. This has nothing to do with Iraq being an amalgam....Germany itself is an amalgam(formed 1871)...yet in the wake of WW2...Germans did not go round killing each other in the name of resisting the occupation the way Iraquis and Libyans are doing.Neither did the Japanese. It isn't because the world powers favored white nations; German reunification almost did not happen because many of the same world powers feared a united Germany, and Japan, on the other hand is not a white nation....they are Asians.

The problem with us Nigerians, and Iraqis and Libyans is that we do not like to take responsibility for our mistakes. We think that we are OK. The fact of the matter is that we are not. Key to Germany and Japan's rebuilding was an acceptance of the fact that they were wrong. The average Nigerian on the other hand blames others....including his own countrymen for his misfortunes. Recently, one man and his wife were arrested for abusing their child. Reason for abuse.....the child was held responsible for the man's lack of sucess in life. Now....if that man had been white...he would have blamed his lack of knowledge .....and would have sought out knowledge to become rich....even going back to school to acheive his dream, or putting himself under a mentor who has made it. But in Nigeria....we blame other people. Apparently it is the fault of the witch/the enemy tribe/etc that we are not prospering.

I am going to close by offering my advice to the OP......and to everyone reading this. We are not a good people. We are a bad people. Boko Haram and the economic disaster we find ourselves in are collectively our fault. It is high time we started doing solutions.....like revamping our education system, by spending more on power and mass public trrasport, by realisng we are a bigoted people...and taking steps to end that bigotry, and by refusing to blame the other guy.

This goes beyond politics my friends.....it is time we stopped blaming America....and blamed ourselves. It is time we stopped blaming other tribes...and blamed ourselves. We have brains....I suggest we use them.

Accuracy in Media (AIM), an American based non-profit, grassroots citizens watchdog of the news media that critiques botched and bungled news stories and sets the record straight on important issues that have received slanted coverage has shed more light on the possible rationale behind the Obama’s administration’s attitude to Nigeria’s war against Boko Haram.

In a piece published on its website on the Wednesday, investigative journalist, James Simpson sheds light on how the close relationship between Obama and David Axelrod (the head of AKPD Mesage and Media, and the director of President Barack Obama’s 2008 Political Campaign may have led to the sabotaging of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administrations efforts against the Islamic terror group in order to assist the chances of the All Progressives Congress (Axelrod’s latest political clients) ahead of the 2015 general elections.

AIM reports:

When the notorious Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram, kidnapped 278 school girls from the town of Chibok in northeastern Nigeria last year, Michelle Obama began a Twitter hashtag campaign, #BringBackOurGirls. But behind the scenes, the Obama administration was undermining Nigeria’s efforts to take the battle to the terrorists. Obama refused to sell Nigeria arms and supplies critical to the fight, and stepped in to block other Western allies from doing so. The administration also denied Nigeria intelligence on Boko Haram from drones operating in the area. While Boko Haram was kidnapping school girls, the U.S. cut petroleum purchases from Nigeria to zero, plunging the nation’s economy into turmoil and raising concerns about its ability to fund its battle against the terrorists. Nigeria responded by cancelling a military training agreement between the two countries.

The Nigerian presidential election is coming up Saturday, March 28, 2015. AKPD, the political consulting group founded by Obama confidante David Axelrod, isassisting Retired Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim presidential candidate from Muslim-dominated northern Nigeria, where Boko Haram was spawned and wields the most influence. Buhari is well-known throughout the country, having led as “Head-of-State” following a military coup in 1983. He was dislodged following another coup in 1985.

Democracy is a recent phenomenon in Nigeria. With the exception of two short periods from its independence in 1960 to 1966, and the second republic from 1979 to 1983, the country was ruled by a string of military dictatorships between 1966 and 1999.

Under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner, Buhari is putting up a stiff challenge to the sitting president, Dr. Ebele Goodluck Jonathan who hails from Nigeria’s Christian south. Buhari was also the North’s presidential candidate in the last election held in 2011.

Axelrod is credited as the force behind President Obama’s election victories in 2008 and 2012. He served as Obama’s Senior Advisor until 2011. A well-placed Nigerian interviewed for this report who asked to remain unidentified says that influential Nigerians within and outside the government believe Obama deliberately undermined the war effort and sabotaged the Nigerian economy to make President Jonathan appear weak and ineffectual, and thus bolster the electoral prospects for AKPD’s client, Buhari.

The prominent daily Nigerian Tribune cites an activist group, Move on Nigeria, complaining that the U.S. is fueling tension in Nigeria and has “continued to publicly magnify every challenge of the Nigerian government.”

An anti-Buhari Nigerian blogger writing in the Western Postwent further:

In the last year, Nigeria sought aid from the White House for many initiatives, including the fight against Boko Haram.

The Obama administration refused to do anything but play [sic] lip service to Nigeria’s requests. However, it used public and private channels to internationally magnify every failure Nigeria’s government experienced.

In the last year, since the involvement of Axelrod’s firm, relations between the two nations have significantly deteriorated, with the US refusing to sell arms to Nigeria, a significant reduction in the purchase of Nigeria’s oil, and the cancellation of a military training agreement between Nigeria and the USA.

In turn, the Buhari-led Nigerian opposition used the U.S. government’s position as validation for their claim that the Nigerian government was a failure.

Nigerian officials seeking to purchase weapons, especially Cobra attack helicopters, were outraged at Obama’s refusal to allow these transactions. Nigeria’s ambassador to the U.S., Professor Adebowale Adefuye, stated publiclythat:

The U.S. government has up till today refused to grant Nigeria’s request to purchase lethal equipment that would have brought down the terrorists within a short time on the basis of the allegations that Nigeria’s defence forces have been violating human rights of Boko Haram suspects when captured or arrested.

We find it difficult to understand how and why, in spite of the U.S. presence in Nigeria, with their sophisticated military technology, Boko Haram should be expanding and becoming more deadly.

Another official quoted in the Nigerian newspaper ThisDay, stated:

The U.S. government has frustrated Nigeria all the way in our war against terrorism despite its public statements in support of Nigeria, as it fights the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-east… They want us to fight Boko Haram with our arms tied to our backs.

They have blocked us from procuring the helicopters and would not provide us with intelligence despite the fact that they have several drones and sophisticated aircraft overflying the North-east of Nigeria from bases in Niger and Chad where the Boko Haram fighters and movements are clearly in their sights.

Retired Col. Abubakar Umar, a former military governor, concluded that the Americans “have decided to turn a blind eye to what is happening in Nigeria.”

Former Head-of-State, Retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon publicly stated last November that America is no friend of Nigeria.

After exhausting all avenues, the Nigerian government finally turned to Russia, China and the black market to obtain needed arms, and as a result has gone aggressively on the offensive against Boko Haram, retaking some 40 townsoccupied by the group and killing at least 500 terrorists. According to recent accounts, Boko Haram has gone to ground in the northeastern border regions. But whereas the border states of Niger, Chad, Benin and Cameroon formerly took a hands-off approach, they have now joined in the effort to destroy the group, pledging a total of 8,700 troops. Most recently, Boko Haram has been cleared of its northeastern strongholds in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

U.S. Excuses

The Obama administration has said it is barred from supplying weapons by the so-called Leahy Amendment which forbids foreign states that have committed “gross human rights violations” from receiving military aid. However this did not stop the U.S. from sending Special Forces to Uganda—another country accused of such violations—to assist in capturing Lord Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony. Nor did it prevent Obama from supporting al Qaeda-linked rebel groups in Libya, who later went on to attack the Benghazi mission, and have now joined ISIS. The Syrian “moderates” the administration claimed to back are also allegedly joining with ISIS.

In fact, Obama supported the Islamic radicals who destabilized states throughout the Middle East, including Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, and did little to prevent Iranian-backed Shiites from overthrowing Yemen—a key ally in the War on Terror. And despite claims that the U.S. “does not negotiate with terrorists,” the administration did so in secret with the Taliban for years, most notoriously over the release of Bowe Bergdahl.

The U.S. State Department is currently negotiating a deal that will enable Iran to obtain the bomb, and it just declared that Iran and its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah, are not terrorists. The administration even claims Iran has been an ally in the War on Terror! Finally, Axelrod’s client, Buhari, has been accused of human rights abuses during his time as chief-of-state.

To top it off, Secretary of State John Kerry made a mockery of the administration’s pretext by hinting in January meetings with both Jonathan and Buhari that the Obama administration might allow weapon sales after the election. If the U.S. was so concerned about human rights violations, how could a mere election change that? Given the perception that Buhari has Obama’s implicit support, this sends an unmistakable message.

Jarus:
It is unthinkable that Obama will be that petty.

It think there may be a bigger catch for Obama or the US here. I believe international politics is directed by business interests more than anything else. Can you think of who would benefit the most from crisis in Nigeria's Niger Delta?

Let me give some background. It is believed in petroleum industry circles that Saudi Arabia is fighting a market share war by influencing OPEC to not cut production despite the flooding of the market that resulted from american shale production. This naturally led to a drop in oil prices. Saudi Arabia's motive here is to reduce the profitability of the shale oil business thereby discouraging investors from further investments in the business given that shale oil is significantly more expensive to produce than other conventional means. What this means is that many american long term business interests are threatened, along with american efforts towards energy self-sufficiency. Further investment in the shale business would require higher and sustainable oil prices to improve investor confidence. Banks need to be guaranteed that they can make profits on the loans they'll give towards this business. With Saudi Arabia's stubbornness, the next best option would be to force production cuts in at least one of the politically weaker OPEC members. A reasonable way to do so is to follow a well scripted plan that will bring about crisis in the oil producing areas of that country. But wait, what happens to american interests in Nigeria - Exxon Mobil and Chevron. Well, they will be better insulated from the crisis because most of their production is done offshore, but that doesn't mean they won't be affected. In the end, production from Nigeria will reduce enough for oil prices to experience some increase. Other OPEC or oil producing countries may follow if that increase is not appreciable enough, pending a time when research efforts pay off well enough to drive down shale investment costs and make the shale business profitable in a low oil price regime.

This may well just be simple speculation that shouldn't be taken seriously. However, I am convinced that no matter how things play out, the black man loses again.

Obama is a secret muslim whose elections as US president is one of the worst things to have happened int the world. It is not a surprise that he is interested in the islamization agenda of Jihadist who want to take over the world. All his actions to the contrary all smack of hypocrisy when one considers his antecedents in Syria, Iran and latest, Yemen. Today, no thanks to Obama's policies, extremists are taking over a lot of arab countries and their attacks on the western world is becoming more brazen. His presidency has made the world a much more insecure place than he met it.

Coming back to Nigeria, GEJ has handled Obama's collusion with the Jihadists with wisdom. Today, the war against insurgency has picked up with more BH decimated, such that they cannot carry out their threats to undermine the elections. Kudos to our resilient and gallant armed forces and GEJ, their able C-in-C. We have no doubt that GEJ will be overwhelmingly re-elected today as president, as that is the only viable option towards moving forward as a united, virile country. By the grace of God, nigerians are coming out today en masse to reject Buhari and his foreign collaborators who want to destroy nigeria.

Obama is no Muslim....he drinks beer, attends church, and eats pork. Even his smoking is considered unacceptable by some Muslims. Obama's dad was an atheist.(and chronic womanaizer....but that's another story).

As for the Arab world....blame no one but the Arabs. They are reaping the fruit of decades of leaders...pro and anti west...promoting hate-filled ideologies. Second....when you fire on peaceful supporters(Syria) expect to get problems. Yemen, on the other hand...has had issues long before Obama thought about becoming president.

Arab countries....are responsible for their own mess. America does not rule the world last time I checked.

As for Iran....the reason for the softly approach is to prevent Iran from acquiring Nukes....not just to protect Israel...but because all the other Arab nations will acquire nukes too.(Saudi and Iran are enemies.).

Coming back to Nigeria, GEJ has handled Obama's collusion with the Jihadists with wisdom. Today, the war against insurgency has picked up with more BH decimated, such that they cannot carry out their threats to undermine the elections. Well....the basic reason why it took so long to beat Boko is simple. They are insurgents. They don't fight conventionally....and Nigeria's army has not developed an adequate unconventional warfare unit. We are winning because we injected South African and Russian ex-special forces into the battle.(Google for Spestnaz training....and you will see how a real special force unit is trained). And we have other African countries in the fight/war too.

If Nigeria had developed an unconventional warfare unit....we would have had Boko beaten long time ago. That is why I beleive that whoever wins in March should develop an unconventional warfare unit...specializing in the kind of war Boko fights. We could get the Russians or even the South Africans to help train that unit. War is not won by equipment...but by better tactics. We have had problems with Boko...not because of the CIA...or because they are better trained...but because of tactics. Remember that Boko may have had training from and definitely has links with guys who have fought America and Russia in Afghanistan, and in Iraq. That is experience. Nigeria needs a special forces unit....a General Rapid Response Unit/Squad....similar to the French GIGN, the Russian Spestnaz, and the Selous Scouts of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe.

Another thing....we should industrialize. One reason why I think that both GEJ and Buhari are not my cup of tea is that neither of them have any ideas on how to make Nigeria self reliant and industrialize. In my opinion....we should be manufacturing weaponry.....instead of buying it from outside. Whoever wins in March should make Nigeria's industrial development a priority. We can no longer rely on oil...because the price is too low...and is going to continue falling since oil is being discovered everywhere.

IF a man cud be dis bad in his 1st tenure, wen his chances of coming back was high(even though he said he will only go for a term and wen he was questioned about dat after his 2nd term bid,he said where did I sign it).what will happen dis tym dat he knows he's not coming back. Loot till breathing becomes a problem! and Nigerians are so happy about DAT. God must make him win...CLASSIC!

Obama's behaviour towards Nigeria has been disgraceful but guess what? Its a good thing. It will help Nigeria think differently

I believe that when GEJ is re-elected Nigeria will strive to be petrol sufficient. We should refine all the petrol we use and even export petrol to other African countries
its because GEJ says NO to same sex marriage.its well, God is on our side.
