You are new in the country. That's all.

It takes at least 5 years to get it all figured out.

Personally I don't go because of the inconvenience

Ignorance is a disease..........Just don't say things that you don't know.......Your post is mis-guided...........Even if you have all your papers,Nigeria is still a place where you will think very well before going......Most people are smarter than before and traveling to them now is about cost and you just don't make a trip without consideration of serious intentions........Gone are the days of communication problem as you can now contact anyone at anytime........Hopefully Buhari will clean up Nigeria from Bokoharam and it could make it easier to come to Nigeria just for the fun of it........And most important reason is lack of adequate infrastructure which is hard to find in Nigeria.....No light and you want me to come home anyhow..........

Hmm, srry oh op but dis poist seem to b pointing only at pple dat don't want togo home for negative reasons.
Some pple may just not want to come home cos the environment at home isn't condusive for them with respect to our not less develped economy. Some may also decide to not come home until they have sucessfully improved thei r condition as to b able to offer a benefitiing change to nigeria.
Although I must say, those posts are true enough for certain pple.

OP I'm sure you mingle with the wrong set of people. How did you arrive at 78% illegal immigrants abroad?

I know lots of professionals across various spheres working and running businesses that when you see them you're proud of being Nigerian. And they visit Nigeria quite often. Do you know the number of flights that leave for Nigeria daily from London and vice versa?

I personally visit Nigeria at least twice yearly cos I have a running business back home and also family there. Besides, all the reasons you gave are basically negative and could stem from the fact that either you're in the wrong circle which you need to change or you're unfortunate in the choice of people you meet.

And please don't say 78% when you don't know. So you met them and they told you they're illegal immigrants
before you doubt me , u must travel abroad and come n see with your two eyes. we Nigerians are strong hearted and fear no risk

OP, I guess you mixed up with the wrong people. I live in the US. Came here few years ago and enrolled in a program that got me my present job. I'm in the 6 figures and I love what I'm doing. I believe in Nigeria but a whole lot of overhauling need to be done. I schooled in Nigeria, but because of the bad eggs in govt, I couldn't get a job for years and that was one of the reason that prompted me to relocate. Your statistic is wrong and Im telling ya'll very wrong. In the US, attend any sunday service of the RCCG and you will see loads of professionals (young and old), doing something meaningful Not just the church alone, but everywhere. Move with the right set of people and let them show you the way.....

I don't know why people like throwing numbers when they don't have proof. I have been in the US for close to 2 years and I still don't know any nigerian illegal immigrant here. 78% Haba. The other points are on point though - excuse the pun.

just collected my resident permit card today and will be visiting nigeria august after 2yrs leaving my nation and a topic came my mind and will like to share with my fellow NL who have ppl overseas.

though i may not include some of the reasons but I am 100% sure of my own but you can include yours if you have.

jobless without a stable job:- yes, how can someone who is not eating 3 square meals remember ppl at home? this month he/she works and next month no job again and house rent ,water ,light etc are there to balance up.

Fraudster:- forget this kind of ppl and loose hope in them because they will never come home due to their crimes been committed within the country and he can't even near the airport if he is a wanted criminal. Abroad no be 9ja o ones they have your biometrics ,even if you bleach from black to green dey will get u.

Prodigal lifestyle ppl:- before you make up your mind living in abroad ,u must open your number 6 (brain) because life is too sweet abroad and this group of ppl spend there savings clubbing, partying, smoking, drinking and prostituting just frgt this kind of ppl dey can never remember home even if you tell them there parents are abt to die.

Illegal migrants:- 78% of Nigerians living abroad are living illegal ,majority came with 3weeks, 2month, 1month visas but will not have the chance to renew there visas until they finally meet up with the country requirements and mind you if you don't make the steps early enough, just forget visiting police station if you dont want to be deported. so this are the kind of ppl that spend more than 10years without visiting home.

The marriage scammers:- these group of ppl will never visit home because they have forcefully marry a citizen of the country dey reside just to get residence permit. oyinbo wife no be like nja o if you mention say u wan go your country ehh be ready to spend some weeks in jail cheesy

that's all I can write for now due to my experience and what I am seeing with my two eyes.

may God crown our hustle (Amen)

Bros, come and tell us how you got yours personally now since you said these are your experiences. From what I can get you haven't returned home because you didn't have the legal status. Congratulations on being a green card holder now, but it's either you married a citizen or you performed some magic. You can't file for asylum, and your work place filing for you would be long matter.

Anyway, na your trouble I just dey find :p it's never easy abroad. Congratulations my brother, God bless your hustle.

You want to start visiting Nigeria just after 2 years visa may not be in your interest. When you travel abroad to settle or even to anyplace e.g cultivate a new farmland there are formative years when you have to put all the structures in place even if you have all the papers. Not everyone that go abroad hit it big immediately. Even if you do you need time to integrate into the new culture and new society. I think you are just making yourself happy by saying 78% Nigerians are illegal abroad, may be in those days. You see many Nigerians whose life have been turn around by leaving home and doing very well.

@Op, stop generalizing. There are more South-Asians in the UK than Nigerians sad sad sad sad

Yet, they don't write the kinds of things you have just written about Nigerians on a public forum.

How are the Asians doing it? That is the question you should ask yourself.

Do you know how much Nigerians abroad send home on a yearly basis?

And what do Nigerians at home do with the money sent to them?

What do Asians in Asia do with the money sent to them?

Please, free Nigerians wherever they are. Cheers.
