I don't believe the Oba has not been misquoted, possibly the statement might have been misread or something.

However, if ancestors are being referred to, this is a good time to remember the long argument over who exactly are the ancestors mentioned,

He was misquoted from the onset.
Whatever, the message has sunk into the thick skulls of the ibos concerned.

Watch and see as they comply.

Did he even invite the ibo leaders?

Why did they go there if not to pledge unalloyed loyalty to his candidate or will they say they never knew he was for Ambode?

Nonsense!

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Railwan Akiolu, on Thursday said that President Goodluck Jonathan should not be blamed for the problems of Nigeria.
Akiolu said this while receiving Jonathan at his palace in Lagos.

He said that many of the problems in the country predated the Jonathan administration.
It is reported that the President was in Lagos State for the flag-off of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) presidential campaign at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
He was in the Oba’s palace to pay homage to him and seek his blessings before going to the campaign venue.
Akiolu said that fighting corruption was the responsibility of every Nigerian.
"What will be, will be; God Almighty will give the best person the opportunity to lead this country.
"Mr President, God knows the best; I am happy; what I want are free and fair elections.
"I am happy that Mr President directed INEC to ensure that voters’ cards are distributed to every eligible member of the electorate,’’ he said.
He urged INEC to ensure distribution of voters’ cards, saying that Lagos had more than six million eligible voters.
The royal father urged that security agents should not be unfairly used against any citizen during the general elections.
According to him, both the PDP governorship candidate, Mr Jimi Agbaje, and his APC counterpart, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, are his children.
He said that he had presented Ambode’s candidature for God’s blessing at the 2014 Hajj in Saudi Arabia but noted that God would always have the final say.
The Oba expressed confidence that Nigeria would be more united after the elections.
Akiolu accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of not treating Lagos well during his administration and leaving many problems unsolved in the country.
Earlier, Jonathan said that he came to the palace to pay homage to the royal father and sought his prayers and support for his ambition.
The president said that the Nigerian government under the PDP had done much for the country, contrary to claims by the opposition.
He said that his administration did not believe in blowing its trumpet but determined to meet the expectations of the citizenry.
Jonathan said that his administration had revived rail transport system, improved road network, created jobs and implemented policies aimed at economic advancement, among other achievements.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, sought the support of the royal father for both the state and presidential candidates of the party. - See more at: http://www.aitonline.tv/post-jonathan_not_to_be_blamed_for_nigeria___s_woes___oba_akiolu#sthash.NxQ5Up0B.dpuf

There are 2 federal constituencies in Oshodi/Isolo. An Igbo man Tony Nwoolu won one. Another Igbo woman Mrs.Rita Orji won the seat in Ajeromi/Ifelodun while an Urhobo man Oghene Egoh won that of Amuwo Odofin. It's credible from Punch. See link: www.punchng.com/news/apc-loses-six-reps-seats-in-lagos/

Never knew there were 2 federal constituencies in Oshodi/Isolo.

If that is the case, it wont happen again. I can assure you.

Tinubu must have learnt his lesson as regards imposing unpopular candidates on the APC.

The Oba is more than just a Kabiyesi at the moment. He represents a throne and an ideal that's larger than himself. A stranger wouldn't understand that.

Any comments attributed to him that is not in quotation or verifiable is empty (fabricated) noise.

Adapted from Akiolu response to accusation:
He assured them of his continued support‎ and assistance where needed and the meeting ended with the traditional breaking of kolas, alligator pepper, and bitter kola and pouring of liberation on the ground. It was within this context that that the tradition of Lagos with regard to the lagoon came up. It was noted that whoever works against the throne and the interest and peaceful co-existence of Lagos would end up in the lagoon as per tradition.

See as this oba put sand sand 4 Ambode garri. You can imagine an oba threatening the igbos.During the colonial rule, the British had a hard time penetrating us,even though we had traditional rulers. The igbos have little or no regard for whoever that is against their own interest, be it the gods, man, and royalties. Ambode better apologise on the oba's behalf. He may be surprised.

The link to the online "news" story isn't even working. Sunnewsonline is to legitimate news what Vanilla Ice is to real rappers (Rakim, Tupac).

I've just read the statement issued by the Oba on this rumour and as I expected, what was reported is simply false.

What was reported is really an insult to the Oba of Lagos and a disgrace to the reporters and newspapers which published the news.

Read Akiolu response here
http://www.today.ng/news/ambode-oba-of-lagos-makes-clarification-on-his-threat-to-deal-with-igbos/

The palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has issued a statement, clarifying the Oba’s comments on his alleged threat to Igbos in Lagos to vote the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Akinwunmi Ambode or die in the lagoon.

Below is the statement;

THE PALACE MAKES FURTHER CLARIFICATION ON THE STATEMENT BY THE OBA OF LAGOS. ‎

My attention has been drawn to a publication in a national newspaper where HRM Oba Riliwanu Akinolu was alleged to have threatened Igbos in Lagos to make them vote for Ambode.

Last Sunday, all honorary Eze Ndigbos in Lagos paid a courtesy call to HRM Oba Akinolu. At the meeting the visitors praised the Oba for his fatherly support for and cooperation with Igbos in. Lagos. They assured him of their continued good neighborliness with other tribes in Lagos and support everything that’ll further strengthen that harmony.

Oba Akiolu on his part acknowledged the enviable performance of Governor Fashola and his contribution to the growth of investments in Lagos. He gave the assurance that he is not disturbed or angry with South-East and South- South votes for President Jonathan as perceived by the Eze Ndigbos. The Obas thereafter called on the Igbos chiefs to show appreciation to Lagos State by supporting his candidate Mr. Ambode for continuity of excellence as they have earlier promised.

2.Oba Akiolu stated further that the Igbo people have not betrayed the throne. Lagos has also not betrayed the Igbo people. Lagos has done so much to make the Igbos comfortable and to prosper. For this, we expect reciprocal respect and understanding. The Oba of Lagos prays that the Lagoon and the throne will continue to bless and protect all those who reside and visit Lagos.

3. Oba Akiolu is the father of all irrespective of tribe, religion or political persuasion. In Lagos, we have an old traditional proverb that relates to the Lagoon. The Lagoon is unique to Lagos. The proverb stresses the need for unity and understanding when you do business in an environment and in this case when you live and do business in Lagos.

Oba Akiolu prays for peace for the land of Lagos and prosperity for all its inhabitants.

Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose,
Opeluwa of Lagos

Hmmm, HRH Oba Rilwan Akiolu is the Paramount Ruler of Lagos, i suggest u choose decorum over such comments......

Fashola has showed much love to the Ndigbo community, Nwanem Nwoke, he gave us our first Commissioner (Igbokwe) , we need to be fair....

I also wonder how true these claims are, I wonder if its not another propaganda by the PDP to use to divert our votes as Ndigbo community to PDP, as they have seen our support for Ambode grow over the past few weeks....

Let us all have the fear of God, Let us all be guarded in our statements, Lets do what Christ would have done, and God himself will take control...

I see no fault of the APC in this as the Oba is not a member of the APC

Leave the Yorubas to deal with their issue, let them handle their matter

but i doubt those words were said, i have come to believe anything is possible with the PDP

it is well

Ambode is not a bad guy

He went to Federal Government College Warri

he is as detribalized as they come with many people of varying ethnicity in working with him...

Vote Ambo2015

Akiolu is the paramount ruler of Lagos, so we should be decorous in condemning him (even though there is no decorum in his insulting and threatening rant against an entire ethnic group). In fact, you doubt he even uttered the statement (in spite of the audio recording in circulation), he is not an APC member. The APC was 'magnanimius' enough to give the Igbo a commissioner slot.... Bla bla bla.. Shifting the goal post endlessly in a futile bid to justify the unjustifiable.

You are an embarrassment to human kind. Your father should have poured that sperm that conceived you down the toilet. Such a waste of space. Useless animal.
