Hello..
Jonathan's loss at the polls has come and gone, It is actually a blessing in disguise, it saves us the pain of answering every stupid question on what our 'brother' was doing.. But I will tell you that we have been conned in the biggest scam in our history. As a bini man I am pleased with the outcome of the elections and the role religion played in it, but truly Jonathan was not pro-active. He is the sort of happy-go-lucky guys that you find sometimes and surrounded himself with people of questionable character, Nigeria doesn't need that kind of person. Nigeria needs an authoritarian government that would clamp down on press freedom and violate rights. Jonathan has been eased out and I am pleased for the following reasons:

1. The governance of Nigeria is a poisoned chalice :- Not even a theocracy can solve the ills in this country, and everyday the problems become worse. From unemployment to corruption to Power to Environment. And these problems are global problems, that we cant solve. Verily I say unto you, Buhari will not fix a single problem in this country, he will be continually overwhelmed and if he is honest enough he will scream that there are forces in his cabinet sabotaging his plans. In fact let's wait till inauguration before discussing this.. But there is this popular misconception that elected public officers are most corrupt but I put it to anyone that the most corrupt persons in the country are in the civil service. The permanent secretaries and directors sit on so much corruption that they can't afford to stand up even for a minute. Elected public officers just steal money, ministries have institutionalized corruption, the type that even the executive cannot understand completely. Such as that of NNPC and it's subsidiaries. The report did not indict any person, instead it indicted the NNPC working model, if we had access to NPDC's accounts we would have protested for it's immediate closure

2. America is trying to further divide the rich and poor in the world by taking away means of self reliance. Over time, countries who have moved from underdeveloped to developed status have a currency which they trade with. At times it is human resources e.g. China, India, other times it is Crude oil as seen in South America and the gulf oil states. With free-falling oil prices as schemed by the world powers, most countries would not have the means to pursue meaningful development. Buhari has already come out to say that the oil prices are not favorable for his policies. But he should remember that the price had started falling even before his election victory and he used if for his campaigns.

3. I live in the North, these people are extremely helpful and friendly, Jonathan did a lot here.. The southerners who voted buhari continue to argue that Jonathan was daft, we agree. Considering the fact that he sited 9 out of 12 universities in the north, and shipped fertilizers there to boost their farming drive, the well said Almajiri schools anthem and employment in the civil service. The thank you message from the North was echoed throughout the north :: "VOTE OUT THE INFIDEL".. That was the easiest election campaign message ever.. It was more efficient than promises of electricity, Agricultural development, Water, Waste management, trips to the moon e.t.c. That message is your surest way to get to Abuja. Do not tell me about how the north voted jonathan in 2011, minus the fact that the PDP rigging machine rigged the election, the Buhari project was not yet mature. BUt his post election comments about soaking baboons proved to the North that he was the right man.
Jonathan did not do anything in the south, he trusted his brothers, even on the eve of his election betrayals they still voted for him but it wasn't enough. If Jonathan had not rigged the election figures in the north, the results would have been more disgraceful but would have been a real reflection of what happened there.

It was just an agenda to kick him out after 4 years, from the BH insurgency to the Chibok girls, Sanusi's allegations and the other wahala were part of the grand plan but Jonathan was too busy trying to solve them individually without thinking if they were all connected afterall.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS
It is however pertinent to note at this time that Boko Haram has gone to bed.. We are happy and sad at the same time, happy because we can finally stop having a page on BBC and CNN for the wrong reasons. And I'm sad due to the strange timing of their cessation of hostilities. As innocent as my humble heart, it still tries not to link the BH cease fire with the election results. BH is crumbling faster than a pack of cards, today 200 girls are released tomorrow 190 girls.. Let us just say it was due to Jonathan's dying bed wishes with his last chakra, but even America during her occupation of Iraq did not achieve large scale victories like these even in more favorable terrain. A few might still argue that a handful of bombings here and there still occur; this is what I will refer to as tapering. In pharmacodynamics, when administering a drug especially and endogenous substance such as a hormone, you don't just stop the drug once, instead you gradually reduce the dosage so that the body's natural production mechanism will take over. If BH had just stopped on the sunday after elections, the uproar would have been too much.. This goes to show how much people are willing to sacrifice their kin just to achieve an agenda. Anyways the NE has a fairly large christian population so no harm done.

Concerning the issue of permanent voters card, i see it as a means to constantly disenfranchise or underenfranchise the south. The figures polled by the north will continually be put forward with additions in every subsequent election. A time will be reached and they will tell you that the population in gombe is thrice that of Bendel and Rivers. And their methods are very systematical and carefully arranged. The Kaduna state government has just told us that over 3.5 Million children were immunized on sunday, just kaduna state. I don't need to press home the handiness of these immunization figures. But keep in mind that they will be used in a few years as reference points. I won't even be surprised if Buhari commissions a census in the guise of the former being unreliable. The census figures will just be like our election results. When elections come, they will vote their kin and use traitors here or the very intelligent progressives to garner their 25% and move on.
Gani Adams, speaking at a Press Conference at Ikeja, queried how 90% PVC collection in Boko Haram affected states became possible despite the insecurity and a very large number of displaced persons (IDP’s) in various Internally Displaced Persons camps and then Lagos, a peaceful state having just 45% PVC collection.

According to Gani Adams, the inequality in PVC collection between peaceful states and stats battling insecurity is a curious case that goes beyond the thinking imagination of a reasonable mind which is clouded with evil intention.

With 30,000 fraudulent polling units in the Northern region and not creating any additional polling unit in the South, designated as voting centers and having being heavily criticized by some eminent Northern elders, this increased the voter number in the north considerably
“In a Normal and sane nation, this singular act is a subversion of popular interest which should have earned massive condemnation. We also saw the massive PVC collection figures in war ravaged areas and comparing them with peaceful areas doesn't ake any sense at all.

In fact the elections were paradoxical.. If the north had massively voted Jonathan and we in the south massively rigged him out, it would have been easier to accept and understand. Today the South SOUTH and South-east even the south has nothing to remember jonathan for.. Jonathan is not a hero, Jonathan failed us

Brothers, real smartness is not the ability to win online arguments, it is your ability to determine what happens around you. We must learn from the mistakes of Ironsi and Jonathan, and decide our fate.

How was the PVC distribution unfair and why do you think the north created the boko haram for political gains? I need a concrete answer.

nice write up... the election that took place this year is just a scam orchestrated by inec, APC, northern cabals and their chief sponsors u.s.a and Britain using their stooge obj. since the creation if Nigeria the north was created to dominate Nigerian politics because of their docile nature. so what we saw in the election is a clear manifestation where after all gej did for the north their thank u was vote out the infidel. any President that the u.s is against just know that the president is working effortlessly to make such nation great. the only way to take out u.s influence and continuous interference in Nigeria is either by jailing obj or killing that man. obj right from time have been aware that the north is a baby of the west ( u.s & its allies) in nigeria, hence he has always been careful when it comes to issues concerning the north. from handing over power to shagari to handling power to yar adua to supporting buhari. have u ever heard where he condemned anything about the north, no. but he is quick to support them. the man might be a CIA agent in Nigeria, gej was right to have sidelined him. the south south and south east needs to fight to breakout from this scam called Nigeria.

We are now to believe that Nigerians are too docile to demand for social change after 16 years of PDP govt. That 30 million youths are unemployed is irrelevant. that kidnapping and armed robbery are ravaging southern states are pointless. So the point is just religion and ethnicity. How about allegations of corruption. of course no one was caught with a smoking gun so what the heck? How can overhead budget for a mere 5 % of the population be 90% whilst the whole country gets 10%? It is simple it is better to spend 4 billion on feeding rich people at the villa than to build 400,000 clinics to save lives. Why should we hold Jonathan accountable when other leaders failed us in time past? But I ask at what point should we say enough is enough if we cannot do this after a man has spent about 5 years as our leader still giving excuses for power failure, insecurity, unemployment, fuel importation, etc. Conspiracy is part of politics but a leader who is proactive will make himself accountable to the people so that if his conspirators succeed like Brutus against Ceaser, his legacy will stand him out. When GEJ goes, I wander how many villagers will point to his legacy after six months. In the west we are still talking of Awo legacy I spite of colonial struggle, trial and jail term. Every household can point to something of enduring value. I do admit that some elements want change for divergent reasons, notwithstanding, change is socially and politically logical given lacklustre leadership by PDP in the last 16 years.

Jonathan's administration was so sad that apart from not making capital developments in the south, he didn't put policies that would favour us either.. He was just planning with no actualization.. All our major military infrastructure are still in the north, PIB that he should have forced through, he let it rot. Instead of Nigeria's real GDP and GNP increasing, Dangote's GDP soared. Dangote did not only become the richest african, but also the major player in Nigeria's economy. And was even bold enough to say that he owed his success to Jonathan's favourable policies. IF it were in China, the Minister for the economy and dangote would be tried

Good point..

Did buhari promise to change any of the above mentioned problems? Did buhari attend the national debate to tell us what his economic plans were? Jonathan was not a good politician though he is a good man. The only things Buhari said were during campaigns and open air talks, and today he is already changing his position on many of these issues.
I challenge you to go outside your house and look for one ardent Buhari supporter, ask him to tell you one thing buhari will do.. He will only tell you that Buhari will jail Jonathan and other corrupt people. Buhari never said he will jail anybody!
If we were to talk about jailing people, there are many common folk out there who do worse things than government people and deserve jail terms.

OP thank you very much. The March 28 event was a testament that the Nigeria arrangement is nothing close to unity. Only a systematic change or an outright referendum will change things.

What we need in the SS/SE is True Federalism and 50% Resource Control. We don't need any other crumb in the name of Amnesty, NDDC, Niger Delta Ministry or even PIB. If the Nigeria state refuses, then a referendum should be called to determine whether or not we want to remain in this arrangement called Nigeria. This I believe is legitimate and noble. We can't continue to deceive ourselves.

We have a C-in-C who has blamed virtually everybody for the failure of his administration. On the issue of boko haram, why didn't he use all the state security apparatus available to him to stamp them out when all they had was a few riffles and were attacking police stations and stock pilling weapons? If as you suggest some people in the north were responsible for the insurgency because they did not like an "infidel" ruling them, why did he not arrest these people? For failing to arrest them, he deserved to be booted out of office. See lets stop playing the victim, President Jonathan, as good as his personality is, is a failed leader. You mentioned the 9 universities in the North, He promised to establish a Federal university in all the states of the federation that had no Federal University, so how does that translate to favouring the North? (Never mind that he did not fulfill that promise of Building Airports across the country).
On the religious aspect, I tell you a lot of the christians in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa dislike GEJ because he abandoned them both as the President and a Christian and many of them voted against him so stop playing the religious card. I am not saying some people didn't vote along religious lines, there were people who voted for GEJ and GMB based purely on their religion, this is unfortunate.

America never puts a hand in something that does not benefit it,even if its in detriment to another country..

When gej was president whatever the north put up be it violence or schemes it didn't affect our economy that badly
Nb* falling oil prices did, also orchestrated by some world powers of which america is one

But on the other hand when niger delta millitants pick up arms and cause violence it seriously affects our economy and with the falling oil prices that Is a straight death of a country
Us hates the advancement of countries as it shortens their revenue
If nigeria possibly unites and becomes one we would follow in the footsteps of china which would see work outsourced to us and more depreciation in the us economy, and trust other african countries, they would surely follow suit and finally the stranglehold of the us on the world would die

Nigeria has both the manpower, intellectual abilities and resources to make it a world power and that's what some parties are afraid of,the liberation of africa
We are too busy fighting ourselves to see what's happening

For eg during gejs tenure with all the killings we had a good measure of electricity
Buh in contrast now he has lost gas lines are being blown up,I haven't had light for up to 48 hrs all month

Trust me, after living my whole life up north, you'd find it hard to trust in their good will for all! Like the guy wrote, the elections were a "poisoned chalice"! When it takes effect, we would know that Khaki no be leather!

Southerners should wake up from this crazy slumber!!!

At last..

I've noticed that only some yoruba's, and SE and SS'ners who live, (or have lived) ..or even mostly frequent here up north on some bussiness have any SLIGHT CLUE what the real issues are.

Jonathan failed the South...that's a harsh reality! But you need to deal with the issues that make the South a caricature in Nigeria! The South also failed Jonathan! It's a funny paradox that we need to examine critically! Thank God you live up North...How many Northerners would vote against their Islamic brothers, no matter what infamy is orchestrated?

rexbuton:
Jonathan's administration was so sad that apart from not making capital developments in the south, he didn't put policies that would favour us either.. He was just planning with no actualization.. All our major military infrastructure are still in the north, PIB that he should have forced through, he let it rot. Instead of Nigeria's real GDP and GNP increasing, Dangote's GDP soared. Dangote did not only become the richest african, but also the major player in Nigeria's economy. And was even bold enough to say that he owed his success to Jonathan's favourable policies. IF it were in China, the Minister for the economy and dangote would be tried

In addition to that, all regions should be allowed to conduct their census, and population figures should not be the basis of representation at the central government! Each region should have equal representation!!

More so, this jaundiced constitution must be jettisoned and re-drafted to ensure democracy, equal representation and respect of our various individualities! Islam should be expunged from it completely!!!

barcanista:
OP thank you very much. The March 28 event was a testament that the Nigeria arrangement is nothing close to unity. Only a systematic change or an outright referendum will change things.

What we need in the SS/SE is True Federalism and 50% Resource Control. We don't need any other crumb in the name of Amnesty, NDDC, Niger Delta Ministry or even PIB. If the Nigeria state refuses, then a referendum should be called to determine whether or not we want to remain in this arrangement called Nigeria. This I believe is legitimate and noble. We can't continue to deceive ourselves.

Half truth, and as it is said, half truths are lies.

Why is it not a crime for a southern Christian to vote Jonathan but it is a crime for a northern Muslim to vote Buhari?

From you write up, you wanted Jonathan to win because he is a southerner, what is the difference between you and a northerner that wanted Buhari to win because he is a southerner?

Why did you forget to mention that the elections was rigged in the south?

Why did PDP had to Pay people 2000 to vote Jonathan in you state (EDO)?

Why didn't you call Jonathan victory in 2011 a gang up against the north.

Why do Jonathan supporters sees his failure to fulfil his 2011 promise as a no big deal but want Buhari to fulfil his.

My brother we are from the same state, what has happen as happened, let's sop wishing Buhari to fail, if he succeeds, we will be the one to enjoy it.

Very true! Southerners who have had limited association with the North are living in a Fool's Paradise! Going to Abuja from time to time doesn't mean you know the North! The North I know is a hydra-headed monster that seeks no respite for anything perceived to be against its interests (religious and cultural)!

McStoic:
Ur head dey there bro. Whoever has lived in the north will understand many things who those elsewhere can never ever grasp. Still praying GMB gives Nigerians the positive change worth their weight in GOLD!!
