We’ll Resume Our Struggle If Buhari “draws First Blood” – Asari Dokubo by HolyHero: 4:48pm On May 18, 2015
Following the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election, leader of the militia group, Niger Delta People Salvation Front, Asari Dokubo, has declared that his group is ready to commence its armed struggle against the Nigerian state.

Mr. Dokubo on several occasion in the recent past promised to make Nigeria ungovernable if Mr Jonathan, an Ijaw from the Niger Delta, was not-re-elected.

Speaking on Sunday at the Annual Major Isaac Adaka Boro’s Memorial Public Event, the militant said whatever restraining order the Jonathan’s administration had on the armed struggle for the self determination of the Niger Delta people has now been voided with the emergence of the in-coming Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

He said a new phase in the struggle will soon be unveiled, but that militants will wait for the new government to “draw the first blood.”

“Yes, a new government begins in Nigeria and a next phase of our struggle shall begin also,” he said.

“Jonathan Goodluck Presidency was like a restraining order now that restraint is lifted. However, we will watch and wait, let them draw the first blood and we shall determine our best way forward. Truly Nigeria will never be the same again the future is pregnant.”

He said the posturing of the incoming Buhari-led administration suggests that it will extinguish whatever is left of the Niger Delta struggle. He added he is ready to die in war or in prison if the in-coming government attempts to trifle with the struggle for self-determination of the oil-producing region or treat it as a conquered region.

“Should Buhari whom like pharaoh has determined in his heart to turn desolate the Niger Delta region, draw the first blood by undermining certain interest of the region then begin the systemic arrest, maiming and murder our comrades, continue the confiscation of our rights to self-determination and treat the region as a conquered region, then it may be honourable for some of us to die in prison or in the field of war as nobody is afraid of him,” Mr. Dokubo said.

Mr. Dokubo took a swipe at other Niger Delta militants that have declared their readiness to work with in-coming government describing them as “petty penny merchants” and “field slaves” who have fled the battlefield before the first good is fired.

He further called on Niger Delta youth to resist any attempt to treat the region as a defeated region.

“Let it be known that we were not defeated,” Mr. Dokubo said. “It was Jonathan and his party that lost an election. We as a people, indeed the Niger Delta region alongside the Igbos were never defeated. We collectively rejected the born to rule and supremacist agenda which some of our brothers as field slaves and taskmasters supported yet their number shows that they are of little consequence, we must however not take them for granted.”

He also took a swipe at Mr. Jonathan, saying the president is merely a beneficiary of the Niger Delta struggle but not a part of the struggle and thus cannot understand the real intent of the struggle, which, Mr. Dokubo said, is to secede from Nigeria which he described as “a false and forced colonial union.”

“He, Jonathan Goodluck, was never in the struggle,” he said. “He was not a product of the struggle but an establishment beneficiary of our struggle. Our struggle is not and never about becoming the president. It was not about being awarded oil licenses and mouth-watering contracts. It was not about massive infrastructural development of the Niger Delta Region. It was not about high scale appointments employment and empowerment. It was never about interventionist programmes and projects.

“Our struggle indeed is about our collective freedom from a false and forced colonial union that has remained divided and un-integrated. It is about our being conferred a slave status and seen as a conquered people who must exist at the mercy of the overloads and supremacist class using our own brothers as taskmasters against us in a Nigerian union.

“Our status in the Nigerian enterprise remains that of a conquered people living a slave and prisoners status. This is the collective identity we have as a people. Whether you are rich, poor, high, low, big, mighty or small, no matter how well dressed, well fed a slave or a prisoner his, he remains a slave and a prisoner who constantly lives at the mercy and dictates of others with his contributions and consent of no consequence. This is why we must now than ever stand up like the Scottish to determine our going forward for our platforms and reject our
. This will not come easy.”

Mr. Dokubo amassed wealth from the multi-billion naira pipeline contract awarded to ex-militants by the Jonathan administration as part of the amnesty deal.

Xixixixi i laughed in Chinese cheesy. Let's see if blowing up pipelines would have no effect on the people you claimed to be fighting for...

The Niger Delta people along with the Igbo nation collectively known as Lower Niger Region was never defeated on March 28. PDP and Jonathan was though we backed them till the very end and we are glad we did. But We Are Not A Conquered Territory

I'm just watching where all this ends.. Like he said "it was never about developing the Niger Delta"... So if it's not, then what's the point saying you're fighting for your people? Do you think your people want to be under self-colonialism where their own people rule over them like slaves without equity and justice? It's obvious that if a Niger Delta is achieved, the people of the Niger Delta are not the ones to benefit from it

The Lower Niger struggle for emancipation and end to marginalisation will continue by exploring every internationally accepted process. We are pro-US and and not anti-anybody. Our demand is both legitimate and divine. It shall not be decimated.

The future is indeed pregnant. Jonathan's loss is looking like a blessing in disguise in various ways. The man get celebrated as a hero nationwide and worldwide smiley and we rediscover ourselves.

We need referendum! That's all. This marriage don tire us, we want out. Each region can fend for itself so i see no reason why we must be one. We are way too different for Christ sake. In all ramifications we are not one. Be it ideology, religion, education, mentality, anything at all. Can they just allow us to go our separate ways and chart a new course for ourselves. We are tired. We are not slaves, Buhari is not Pharaoh and Nigeria is not Egypt.

I keep salivating at the prospect of a Lower Niger republic with the ever innovative Igbos and the strong willed Niger Deltans, SS + SE is a marriage made in heaven united by God. It took time for us to realize but now we know there is no stopping us. Our parents were deceived but now we are educated and will seek change in a peaceful way and God help us, we will get it!

Referendum!!!

All these people calling his words bluff are doing so becos they have no idea what these people are capable of. First of all, unlike Boko Haram, these ones have dia own money and dnt rely on external forces for funding, they do bunkery and lots of oda oil deals so they got the money.

Secondly, these people have conquered there immediate enviroment which is the land and practically live up in water or can stay longer in water hence, it wud take a whole lot to curb them

Thridly, the kind of weapons they wield is not a joke, forget all these BH guns and Bombs, forget that dey did Armnesty and surrendered their weapons on TV, those weapons dey submitted are the worn out ones cus the real weapons are chilling somwia.

I grew up in POrt harcourt and I was in PH at the time when they started their chaos and trust me, it wasn't palatable, we know the kind of gun shots we heard, No be moi moi guns o, that time we they drink tea dey dodge bullet.

What are the rest of Nigeria afraid of? The igbos are called names and mocked at every minute but the moment they say they want out of this mess of a country people start shouting no way. Why not have ur own country and let them live as foreigners. You can even make laws that'll deny them the right to trade - which seems to be the envy.
This is the twenty first century and any group of people have that right to self determination so long as they're not acquiring others' land in the process.
Why do we hate others who live among us but refused to allow them pack their belongings and leave us in peace?
Why are there jitters everywhere whenever Asari and the niger deltans ask for their right for self determination? - at a time that Britain just allowed Scotland to have their referendum.
Why?
One thing is certain, throughout history there's never a group of people who sought freedom and assert their course that never had it.

This too shall come to pass.

Let's learn to respect people's rights and freedoms and stop envy induced hate.
those who feel they are better than others should demonstrate same by showing independency in charting their course and not lump the weight of efforts of those they feel better than to better their balance.
Why do we fear

Isn't that why Nigerians voted for change? Let's see what happens now and see if PDP has been the problem of Nigeria all these while or not. But I'm thinking... Asari made billions since after the armnesty program, has he benefited his people whom he claimed to be fighting for?

So cowardly if you ask me. Why the change in rhetoric??

Initially he said "we would set the country ablaze if Jonathan is not re-elected". Nigerians called his bluff by voting out Jonathan. Now is has become "let them draw the first blood". Funny.

Reminds me of those days when you dare
someone to touch you if they think they got
balls. You get touched and then the next thing
you do is to say "touch me again" when
everyone had expected you to pounce on the
"toucher".

I wonder what next it would be...

Utterly overhyped. Asari has no more credibility. MEND backed Buhari. Even Henry Okah disparaged Jonathan. Nobody is deceived anymore except the bigoted few, Asari Dokubo isn't fighting for any people, he is fighting for his stomach and relevance. Asari Dokubo is no Saro Wiwa, he is just a tout who was given too much relevance and power in a non functioning government.

Anyone with a sane mind should be asking- if Asari indeed desires to see his brothers lifted out of poverty, emancipated, why couldn't he build his school in the region?? How many schools or other such facilities has he set up using the huge amount of finances at his disposal??

Such a shame how backward we are mentally.
