Breakdown

Transportation from mile2 to seme = Bus is #300, taxi is #600
Since you are new, crossing the boarder = #1000
from across the boarder to cotonue = 1000 cefa ( which is #335 , note, cefa varies)
Hotel accomodation = 10,000 cefa ( #3350 ) * 2 nights =#7700
feeding = according to your budget.

Hope it helps

Please I plan on going to Cotonou to buy fairly used dresses, shoes and bags for PERSONAL use and I have some questions.

1. Please will 30k be enough for this both transport to and fro and will it be worth it for personal use ?

2. Is there any special market for these goods?

3. Are there special market days?

4. Is it possible to go and return same day?

@zhukafa and other experts in the house please ur expert advice is really needed.

kindly assist me with any info u think I'd find helpful.

God bless

Hello Zkuhafa,
I intend coming to cotonou with my family for weekend. We have our valid international passport. Is there any implication of stamping or not stamping the passports because I noticed that some people are avoiding stamping their passpost. Kindly reply cos we don't want to make any mistake of stamping of passport.

Thank u so much zhukafa.

I want to buy like 10 dresses, 5 pairs of shoe and 3 handbags for myself. I'm just thinking if it'd worth it. Thanks

Lets do the mathematics together.

(1) Good used dresses ranges from 1,500-2,000 cefa ( Since you are not buying much, Nethertheless, some are sold very much below the stated price
e.). Lets take it to be 2000 cefa per dress, 10*2,000 = 20,000 cefa . 20,000 cefa in naira would be 20*354 = 7,080 naira. (note: 354 been used, is the exchange rate and it varies. so it might be more or lesser).

(2) Good used pair of woman shoes ranges from 3,000-5,000 cefa. Now to get the price for 5 pairs of shoes, (also lets assume you picked the 5 good pairs of shoe for 4,000 cefa each). 5* 4,000= 20,000 cefa. so from the previous calculation, we got 20,000 cefa to be 7,080 naira. Now the 5 pair of shoes = 7,080 naira.

(3) Good handbags are also gotten at 3,000-5,000 cefa. Now lets pick it to be 3,000 cefa. 3*3,000 cefa= 9,000 cefa. To get its equivalent in naira,we also do the former calculation 3*354 = 1,062naira

Now, total amount of money spent on goods, 7,080 + 7,080 + 1,062 =15,222 naira.

Tranportation from mile 2 to seme boarder by bus is #300 naira, from across seme barder to Missebo is 2,000 cefa = 708 naira. (since transportation is To and Fro 708+300 = 1,008 naira for going, then times it by 2 =2,016 naira)

So the overall money spent on the above goods is 15,222 + 2,016 naira = 17,238 naira

Note: The above prices on the goods are for first grades, so you should pick a very good stuff to meet the standard of boutique at that price. thanks.

@ zhukafa Thank you very much for your insightful response and reply. However, i will like to suggest a joint traveling arrangement for those of us that will be traveling to cotonou for the first time so as to get it right because i learnt that most of the people there don't understand engish.

I am planning a 3 days relaxation trip to cotonou and i will appreciate going in group atleast for the first time.

Hi Zhukafa. Thanks for the nice job you've been doing. God is ur strength. Pls i have read this trend from A to Z but still have some questions, and will appreciate it if you can help me with the answers. My questions are:

1. Cotonou and Togo, which one do you think will be more profitable to buy used male shoes from.

2. Since I intend to buy abt 500,000 cfa on just male used shoes, Is it possible to get them at 3000 cfa/ pair?

3. Ppl tell me to use company services to bring the shoes to lagos, but i read here that the safest method is tru idioroko axis. Which do you suggest i go for?

Ur immediate answer to these questions would be highly appreciated. Thanks

Okay, thanks for the compliment.

1) Shoes and used goods are slightly cheaper at togo than cotonue.

2)Its possible depending the grade.

3) Both are good but it depends on the quantity you are buying. if its too much, and since you are not used to idi iroko route, then give it to those that offer the services.
