Yea It is expensive. Especially the lobster.
But you can get a deal when you buy a lot at once. That's how I do it.

I got full box of varieties. Lobster tails, crabs, shrimps (with breaded shrimps) pollock, salmon and flounder for a price that made me dance for joy.
I've had it for months now and it's only just finishing. When it's gone, I'll buy like that again. You can save a lot that way.

Could start with what you cooked as he loves stir fry so might be worth introducing a variety of seafood into his diet. So, give up ya recipe ASAP! Aww. Ok most times I use recipes from foodnetwork and tweak it a bit to my taste.

Soak the seafood is cold water if frozen and allow to defrost while you make the chow mein.

NOODLES
First I boiled the chow mein noodles for three minutes, drain and rinse with cold water. It should be a little bit hard at this point. Not too hard or too soft, then I melt some "can't believe it's not butter", ( I use it because of the low calories but you can use vegetable oil or regular butter if you're not a die hard healthy eating fan. But I've to let you in on a secret, the butter aroma is simply awesome.)
*fry diced onions and a cup of blended tomatoes in it until they are cooked. Scope out most of this sauce expect for about 4tablespoonfuls.thereabout

*Save this tomato sauce for the seafood.
* Add 1/4 cup of soy sauce to the little sauce left in the pan and let boil. Then transfer the noodles back into the pan. It's usually tasty at this point but you can season a bit with any seasoning of your choice.
I like to use ACCENT. That seasoning is magic. wink
*Set aside and covered. (You don't want it to dry out.)

SEAFOOD.
2) peel your shrimps, break the crabs if not already broken before you bought them and cut the lobster tails along the ridge on their back. (This is to help the taste of the sauce soak into them while cooking.)
*sprinkle all with garlic powder and cover for a minute. Melt two tablespoonfuls of "can't believe it's not butter"
*fry the rest of your onions in it, pause and breathe in the aroma. It's lovely grin.
* Turn the seafood into the pan and fry them for a minute.
*cut one lemon and squeeze into the pot: Cooking seafood in lemon juice is da bomb. So nice and you never have to worry about the fishy smell. #foodnetwork trick.

*add season and spice according to your taste
* then add sliced mushrooms, green and red bell peppers and the rest of the tomato sauce from before.

Cover and let cook for 10 minutes so that your veggies aren't crunchy so much.

Serve over the chow mein noodles.

Give my love to the little prince.

I will make efforts not to put the weight back on. Anyways, this is the biggest i have ever been all my life...used to fluctuate between 55-58, eventually, i settled at 60kg. I think i got to this 69-70kg because i relocated and with the challenges of settling and eating all manner of rubbish on the go, i added without even knowing it. My eyes cleared when fitting into my size 10 jeans started becoming a challenge. For the first time in my life, i wore size 12 jeans/pants.

Sorry, babes, wanted to give a more robust response to your posts but it's kinda tough when mobile. I make too many spelling errors without being aware of it.

Anyway... you know, I've come to realise that this weight loss of a thing - dieting (for those of us wanting to shed some lbs), eating clean, and exercising all go hand-in-hand. It's exhilarating when at the beginning, when one loses a lot of weight, but usually (as you know) that is the easiest bit. As you really get into it, it gets harder and harder - and sometimes, just plain frustrating...which is something I think we both have been experiencing of late.

But what I do know is that this is meant to be a lifestyle change. For the long run. For the better. So it's got to be all three (or rather, the trinity? Lol!) i.e: doing one and leaving the others out isn't sustainable if we're hoping to achieve long-lasting results. We must continue to exercise. We must continue to eat clean. And we must continue to diet (reasonably). I also think when things get a bit boring on any of the fronts, we need to introduce variety. Variety in eating clean, exercising, and dieting too.

That's why I've of recent decided to ditch the lifts in favour of climbing up the flight of stairs to the fifth floor. I do that now in addition to my normal exercises, just to surprise my body and give it something unexpected and different. I've also decided to space out my running a bit. So instead of running / jogging everyday, I do it everyother day. And for the days I'm not jogging, I do Scola Dondo's 3 intensive dance workout videos in a row, all at once. They still make me sweat in bucket loads, so I know I'm really burning up those calories. Infact, come to think of it, I've always done the Kukere and Azonto dance videos twice, but the Afro Weeerkout just once and even then, I used to struggle with the first half of it when she shouts "DOWN" and you gotta drop down to your knees while still twisting your hips and waist Omoge style. grin grin But for the last couple of days, I've been doing that really well without any effort. Even surprised myself this morning when I did that particular workout video twice, in addition to her other two + my 30mins stretch + 30 mins sit-ups + Cassey's 5 lower abs workout exercises. grin grin (I'm not gonna tell you how just having Smartmom's lime and lemon concoction this morning with an extra bottle of water while exercising got me ravenously hungry later in the afternoon!) cheesy cheesy

Oh, and yesterday Saturday, I did manage to squeeze in 1hr 30mins worth of jogging / 3 minute sprint bursts before going for my 9:30 a.m swim class. That one na another story. Splashing in the pool with your toddler is nothing compared to you showing what you've got in the main pool, on your own. Haba, it's been 3 years since I swam properly and yesterday was tough, I nor go lie. Look eh, the minute I saw how fit the other two women were in their one piece Nike swimsuits, doing the backstroke and front crawl effortlessly, your sister come dey get serious reservations oh! That pool suddenly looked longer and deeper sad sad Fear sef come catch me small sef. The teacher was like "Which stroke are you most comfortable with?" Na I tell am say breaststroke. And he was like, "Okay, show me what you've got". embarassed embarassed

It wasn't that bad oh! I was able to go the whole length and back without drowning myself (lol! Joke), but I was fine as long as the upper part of my chest and head were above water. I used so much force kicking underwater (no splashing) and I could really feel my thigh muscles burn. Anyway, that was okay as afterall, na extra calories getting burnt, but when I had to do the freestyle, I did struggle. Especially with my breathing. To cut a long story short, na me come dey talk say I wan downgrade from the Adult Advanced to Adult Improvers, even before the session ended. I nor wan die jor. So next week, no more advanced. Lemme build up from the improvers and hopefully, with consistency and determination, I will perfect my techniques and breathing.

Did I mention that I didn't dare do the backstroke? Who wan quench before their time? grin grin

You just reminded me of back in the days when I used to get home from secondary school, tired, and ravenously hungry, especially if we had sports...only to get home and find Banga rice, or Palm oil stew. Gosh, I really hated those so much. sad sad cheesy

The exhaustion you felt was nothing other than tiredness. Getting a goodnight's rest (7 hours) is just as important as exercising because our bodies do need to recover. Lack of proper sleep can even contribute to weight gain. I know it's tough being able to get that much sleep at night when one's got to combine working, with running a family, household chores of cooking, cleaning, kids, and so on, but it's got to be done sister. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I fall in front of the telly on the sofa while trying to watch at least just one of my pre-recorded programs! Friday's Eastenders was tough. Na so I go watch 5 mins, doze off, wake up 20 minutes later, rewind the thing, watch 3 mins, doze off for another 20 minutes again...and repeating the cycle. I nor gree give hubby remote control even though I was fighting to stay awake! cheesy cheesy

Re: the hey fever thingy, I take all three jor. The once a day tablet, the eye drops twice a day and the nasal spray. That's the only way I've been able to cope with the high pollen count of recent. Try taking your eye drops and nasal spray with you to work - that should help. smiley

I too wish I could but I can't do the crash diet of a thing. One, because I'll feel dizzy and I do need energy to function. Two, the knowledge that if I miss a meal, my body would simply go into "starvation mode" is deterrent enough. The thought of losing quickly is tempting, but I don't want the repercussions that go with it - i.e: piling on the weight when the crash dieting is over... cheesy cheesy

It was even embarrassing sef you know open plan office naa embarassed my colleagues were all feeling so sorry for me. I have an important meeting tomorrow where I will be making a presentation I hope this thing will not embarrass me again o.

I am tempted to go to my gp for stronger medication. One day am a bit ok next day am sneezing,itching grrrrr I can't believe I am actually wishing for winter cry

But seriously, I haven't had it like I used to, before. I do take my medication (all three) as usual (which in the past would have provided just the slightest bit of relief), so I am absolutely fine.

You know what, maybe you should join me in squeezing a lime and lemon fruit each, into your bottle of drinking water every morning. It's horrible, but gosh, the health benefits are awesome. Maybe that's why I feel almost "normal" this hay-fever season. Plus exercising helps too (I think). I registered at my local gym and yesterday evening after work, went for a 30 minute swim. Today, early mo-mo, I went for the 1hr cycling class. Goodness! It was intensive. The instructor was brutal. I think they all must be on drugs in that class. Even a guy with one leg was cycling away like a maniac.

So, in order for your sister not to carry last, she threw herself into it. Big time. Imagine doing squats and press-ups while cycling? Or being asked to up the resistance from 9, 10, 11, to 12 and to give 150rpm? Ah..ah! grin grin
