It is high time Nigerian or state legislatures outlawed corporal punishment.
It is abusive , destroys self confidence and counterproductive.
It only helps in raising next generation psychopaths.

The parents of this boy must never settle in house.

the cane is a form of corporal punishment. By corporal punishment I hope you don't mean that instrument of torture used in some US schools-- the paddle. I am not against corporal punishment BTW,. A 100 strokes is far many too many no matter what is used---- even the palm of the hand

me I fought my teacher in secondary school.

he flogged my back for not paying inter house sports levy
I wasnt sponsoring myself, I felt oppressed. so I got up from the chair, pulled out a plank and dealth him several blows while screaming curses at the top of my voice. he tried to defend himself but come onnn.... I was the angry one there. he felt the wrath of my menance.

I used to be a quiet and unknown boy. but after that day, I became a hero. my action shot me to stardom. all those spoilt chicks started asking their friends what my name was. I felt really good about my self. I wont lie that heroic feeling affected my grades positively. I got such respect from my junior students that was very allien to me. all other teachers who heard the story started walking with caution when around me. infact till I graduated, no teacher flogged without explaining in detail why he wants to flog me, and even seeking my permission first before he goes ahead. I became a nightmare for the man I fought. is suzan on nairaland? comeonnn.... tell this people how much you loved me after that day. remember when you asked to dance with me? well... I relate it to the plank day. the best day of my secondary school life. the day that turned things around.


remember this saying by the Italians "VIRTUE SHALL TAKE THE FIELDS AGAINST FURY, AND THE BATTLE SHALL BE VERY BRIEF"

Bullying fellow pupils is a more grave offense than the offense of the teacher who scattered his buttocks.

He must not bully, worse, fight a fellow pupil at school. When offended, he must report to the teachers. His buttocks will heal, so he has learnt some lessons.

I'm in support of flogging in schools. Spare the rod and spoil the child. But when a teacher has to go beyond 10 strokes of the cane, he needs psychiatric evaluation. Even criminals shouldn't get flogged that bad.

This should be a two case scenario.
One from the school and the other from the Parents of the lad.

1. The school should take 100% care of the medical bills of the boy and also retrench/sack the teacher. Reason of the sack is that the man is not worthy to be a mentor/role model to his students.

2. The Parents should involve the Police to interrogate the teacher on his actions cos I believe you can't flog a "pupil" a 100 strokes just because he fought even if u be soldiers wey de maltreat civilians.
Their is much to that flogging that meets the eye.

If you ever had a child who is being bullied or stalked by fellow pupils or students, you may understand the teacher. Bullied or stalked students often end up useless in education.
