If return is actually cheaper than one-way, go ahead and book the flight. Maybe you could request for a refund on your return flight leg after you've arrived US, if that's possible. If not possible to request a refund on the return leg, it is still a win-win situation for you because you flew at a cheap price.

Just to let you know, flights booked to travel on tuesdays are usually the cheapest. Ensure that your travel date is a tuesday to enjoy the cheapest prices possible.

Yea, Tuesdays are the cheapest days to get a flight up until Wednesday early morning at 1am. I've flown a couple of times to know the tricks.

$927 isn't a bad price neither. Other airlines charge in the $1000 range. Not to even mention the in-flight entertainment provided by emirates and the hospitality.
