Really I don't know except that all this "state" stuff is artificial. Those boundaries are just for political reasons, which wont affect how people act. If they changed all the boundaries tomorrow, they would still act in the same way even if we were all one big state (which I think we were )

You certainly know a lot about Igbo politics mehn I'm impressed. It was hard for me to even get into at first because when your in Lagos it feels like that's all their is to Nigeria. Very cosmopolitan... I'm not really sure where this yearning to know about home is from all of a sudden but I'm indulging myself.

You know that is only the surface of Igbo politics which I learned from my parents, im actually quite clueless lol. And yeah I imagine its hard for Igbos living in Lagos and Abuja because those places have their own inherent culture which is contributed to by lots of tribes from all over Nigeria. It takes a conscious effort from the individual to remember that youre not all the same deep down

Yeah, before we were colonised there wasn't even anything called "Igbo"; we were all happy in our villages. We only became a big group in the face of other big groups, which is why we're still so disunited. We weren't really made to be united in the first place

It's an Ekpe masquerade and it's name is Okonko. It comes out during the burial ceremonies of initiated members/important people as well as during New Yam Festivals and public processions (such as that in the pic). Back in the day, it was used to issue arrest warrants.

To the topic: that stereotype about Anambra folk not being educated can pain me eh! Heck, we are not far behind Imo in academic achievements and certainly ahead of the other states.

That stereotype usually extends to the entire Igbo race. We keep hearing about how Igbo men don't go to school butbive come to realize that, its not that Igbo men don't go to school, in fact they're one of the highest school goers. It's just that the illiteratebones always become rich and famous at the end of the day.

Yeah. I have literally no idea where that stereotype comes from. I've /yet/ to meet an Igbo illiterate whereas from other tribes

Not saying much but I thought they were the most educated people in Nigeria. Was one stereotype that threw me off, however it's not so bad. Education without money is meaningless (my opinion ) so better to have a reputation for being a money magnet than for being a 'scholar'
