Oga Spyder, are you familiar with "bullnose corners"?

Can it be easily done to brick?

Thanks.

Of course it could easily be done to brick walls, during the dressing stage we can incorporate a lot of ideas. On brick walls, bull-nose corners could be created with a cement/sand mixture. There is also the type we make on the ground, precast and fix anywhere they are needed.

Wonders never end. Oga spyder880 and hajji mufu and others, your input is needed. My friend just told me his bizarre story. He lives in US and working hard. I believe he's been in the US for about 15yrs without visiting his family since.

Back in 2010, his father advised him to start erecting his own house back home with whatever reasonable amount he has. He listened to his father and his father helped secured a plot. For privacy reason i wont mention his hometown/state. Anyways, according to him, he officially started erecting the building back in March 2013. His father is in charge. Foundation alone took months to get done. His father kept telling him stories like the State is adopting western style like they want c/o(which is normal) but many nonsense like that but he believed him and kept sending money.

Thank God, papa was able to erect(supervise) the house up to lintel level since May 2014. The initial plan according to him was bungalow but not really bungalow. The house plan is 3 bed (en suites) in the front. 3 beds, (en suite) in the rear conjoined. I dont know what that is called. And then to roof it. That's it. But his father convinced him to build upstairs that it will pay off later in life (is like 2 buildings on a land according to him). As obedient son, he obeyed but made it clear that he doesn't have money saved. That he sends the money as he gets it.

So his house was at that level since May last yr but he already paid for decking (#1.3m) since July 2014 and he expected decking done. Instead, his dad kept demanding money for "his house". His excuses were genuine according to my friend. He said he just wanted the house done that's why he never had time to complain about anything. So decking was finally done less than 2 wks ago after a yr it was paid for. Within that period, his dad sourced over 3m from him for no apparent reason.

He told me this afternoon that his total spent to deck level now is around #8m. He said his sister had told him severally to be careful that father spends his money on women and stupid business that he makes no profit. I feel so sad. We talked about something like this last yr or 2 rs ago on properties section. We used to talk about someone doesnt need to save up before start building a house, remember?.. We also talked about how important it is to have someone trusted like parents who wish us good in life. Can you now imagine how my friend's dad f*cked him up?.

I know you guys would ask why he didnt go home and supervise his house himself?. I wont say anything about that. I know why. It's very important that he stays in US while his house is complete. I asked him whats next line of action?, he's contemplating taking unexpected trip to nija that will shock his father. I asked him why he finally woke up and realized he was duped by his dad?. He said his asked him for #3m to execute a "project" that will yield big profit. That's what raised red flag. But prior to that, just less than 2wks ago, he gave his father some money to buy 1500 blocks of 4000 blocks needed to at least start 2nd fl. So when his dad now asked for 3m, he asked his dad if they erected 1500 blocks yet?. He asked bcus his dad told him it will be done in 3 days cus there are many workers. He paid workers' fees and everything to build 1500blocks.

Guess what?...his dad told him the job was done since last Tuesday (July 28). My friend quickly called his little brother to check the site, his little brother returned with pictures of the house with decking...no block works on the deck yet. My friend called his father again last Sunday to reconfirm if 1500 block works was done?. His father reiterated that it's done and that he should send the balance for the remaining blocks and cement to done with upper floor quickly. He politely hanged up the phone on him and said he will not call him nor answer his phone until they see face to face.

^^^ That happens everywhere, especially to people who are afraid to bring in outsiders to their projects. One family fought me to take over their son's house two years ago, and then messed it up.

My friend this is not new, hope your friend may have had or read people life experience about issues like this on this forum before involving his family in his business. His lucky his DAD as yet Marry young lady like his daughters age with his money, make more kids that he may end up paying for their education bill after the old man have gone. Sorry to say. This happen every time, not only in Nigeria, is worst in other African neighboring country. Next time please get someone to do the job, should in case he mess up you can easily put him in jail.

I am not surprised and it's not new at all. I had a worse scenario than that from my own family members...lots of Million Naira.
If you live overseas and you have never experienced that kind of situation, you have been lucky so far and you stayed away from family.
Family members, Father, Mother, Sisters, Brothers are the worst of the bunch. You are better off with a good friend or good contractor than any of your family getting involved in your financial affairs in Nigeria. Don't get me wrong, some are nice but most are Satans in your pocket.
Tell your friend to go home and be nice to his father (not financially) until he can get all the papers to the property then abandon him.
Even after he begs, do not reply him. And continue with the project any way he sees better... God help us.

NO sir. Don't vex with anger until you have obtained all the papers related to the project and go thru it well, well. Anger will not solve it.
After you have obtain everything in good order, then FIRE the father... no need to get him arrested... let him forget his money, he will NEVER get it back anyway. Remember.... "Eso pele ni ejo fi ngun ope" meaning "A snake takes patience to climb palm-tree". if you get my gist.

Yeah, have him follow Hajjs advice.

Remember that he doesn't know where his Dad has tilled the farm to (a yoruba proverb). They are expecting him to come home one day so they are prepared for him to be angry and combatant. Destabilize all their plans by not playing into their hands.

My thriftiness is what has saved me so far from being duped but I am just getting started but my oars are out of the water.

Oga Spyder, I'm looking for one of your threads and can't find it.

It's an apartment complex.

You did a water tower with a complex distribution system.

I want to copy the exterior paint scheme.

We should have done a job together late last year, but some things happened and I had to carefully dodge the job. Don't worry, so many jobs ahead.
