Health Checks. Doctor in the House

For all you Nairalanders I have decided to be your official doctor in the house. I have found this site so helpful in bonding me to my motherland I have decided to give medical advice with the usual disclaimer. This is just advice. Further treatment should be sought from your personal physician!

My sister used to complain of a dark spot in her eye pupil. To her it stopped and then after sometime when she said she tried to focus on sth, the black spot resurfaced and its blocking her vision.

Your BP is okay. Few things:

1. Your BP is okay.
2. Write out the complete CBC results, particularly: hemoglobin and hematocrit numbers. And also, what is white count number?
3. High Erythrocytes indicate simple things like dehydration. Drink water.
4. Take your temperature, and report the number
5. Get thyroid functions tests which includes: TSH, T4.
6. See a doctor regarding prescribing an anti anxiety medicine for you.
7. Practice stress management techniques

Regards.

For a young child with vaginal infection, child sexual abuse should be ruled out. Though, at this age, they can also get fungal infection.

Please, do investigate if this child is being sexually molested, and act accordingly.

If not chance of molestations, then take her to a pediatrician to screen for possible immune deficiency syndromes or for a full physical evaluation.

In any case, do visit a pediatrician. She probably needs to be treated again for the infection.

In the means time, keep her vaginal area, dry and clean. No tight clothing/underwear. Did she take antibiotics recently?

Regards

Few things:

What are your symptoms exactly? Diarrhea, constipation, bloody stools, abdominal pain, fever ?

It is possible that you are getting re-infected with parasites over and over due to poor sanitary practices. So check your source of food, water etc. Possible gastrointestinal parasites are transmitted fecal-oral.

What are the medications that have taken? Sometimes, excessive antibiotics can induce gastro intestinal issues as you are wiping out your normal protective gut flora. It is also possible that the medications that you are taking are not potent or are fake.

You could also have inflammatory causes such as: a condition called inflammatory bowel syndrome, or gluten allergy or lactose intolerant. Have you noticed anything that particularly worsens your symptoms?

Regards.

He still has the flariasis. He needs to be evaluated and re-treated again.

The problem with a lot of Nigerian drugs is that they are so many counterfeit medications that don't have active ingredients or they are in low quantity and hence less potent.

Please, consult a doctor for evaluation and treatment

Sorry dear.

I wish you and your dad well.

She needs a pregnancy test first if she is sexually active.

Then: she needs to see a gynecologist for a pelvic exam and to rule out PID and screen for ovarian/cervical cancer.

Don't panic, I said "screen" for preventative purposes. It is not that I suspect it.

Is she out of turn for her cycle or is it just not bleeding normally? Is she on contraceptive?

May have lots of gas in your belly due to eating gassy foods.

Find what foods causes, and stop or eliminate them.

let me read the link and I will get back to you; if I have additional remark.

I will say tho:

You do need to get a head CT or MRI to rule out brain tumor or aneurysm

Secondly: there is a thing called rebound headaches due to over use or long term use of pain relieving drugs.

You may need to back off on some of those pain relief, tho it seems counter productive.

Can you describe this skin inflammation: is it a rash, redness, itchy, blistering? How about runny nose, sneezing, cough.
Does the fever and rash occur before or after the inflammation. What is your age?

Any thing in particular that you have come to associate with it like exposures?

There is contact dermatitis: irritants and allergies.

You do not get measles off and on, because once confirms natural immunity. I suspect a something "fifth disease" caused by parvovirus B19- this does come and go. Typically, no special treatment. Just rest and hydrate with water and take pain reliever for headache. In some cases, one can develop complications with anemia and require some treatment.

That lab is remarkable for polycythemia. MCV is low, but I think it's because you have elevated red cell indices.

So, basically, we have to figure out why you have elevated red blood cell (erythrocytes).

You being short of breath can cause that, but it is now a question of which came first. The short of breath or the elevated red blood cell.

You are at risk for blood clots if this continues to rise. So, I think that your short of breath merits investigation to rule out for thrombus in the lungs.

Do me a favor: get thyroid function test as I outlined in my previous reply, then add a test called D-dimer. I hope you can afford this.

Questions? Shoot.

Regards.

We need to establish the kind of headache you actually have. That will be good start for management. What was the diagnosis the specialist you saw gave this headache?

Hold off on getting head imaging, though you may eventually need to.

Also: if it is primary headache, then my dear, this is life long condition that you will deal with unless by divine intervention for complete resolution.

I will be back with screening questions for diagnosing this headache, unless you have been properly diagnosed. I am a bit busy right now.

Good morning everyone. Please I'ld appreciate it if you can help me with this. I've had rashes on my upper back and chest for like over a month now and it doesn't itch me. I thought I was reacting to a body cream which I hadn't used before so I changed it but it's still there. What could it be?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Doc.

I'm a young man of about 22yrs. Had a relationship back then in school, but never had real sex. Forward to this year, February to be precise, i attempted to have sex with a girl but discovered that i couldn't.

It was a bad experience. During f*replay and all that pre-intimacy stuff, my d*ck was er*cting. But when i wanted to wear the condom and penetrate, it went limber. Second time, she had to hold the d*ck to climb on it but i ejaculated immediately. I knew that my d*ck usually gets er*ct in the mid-night hours, so the third attempt that night, after we'd slept for about 4hours, i woke up and penetrated at once. She responded well and we went on for about 10 minutes and i ejaculated embarassed

Since that day, my confidence lowered but i managed to try two more times with not the same girl. The same thing happened. One, left my house disappointed as i could not get er*ction to sex her. I had to use my fingers and fist for the other, as i finally convinced myself that there was a problem with me. The second was in April and third one was in June.

What do you think could be wrong with me?

You can choose an over the counter multivitamin that contains those vitamins; most times, the quantities are within allowable limits or are required daily values.

Do you need specific brands or? 'Cause you can search these online; like womens' one a day multivitamin is a great one.

Regards.

Dr. Xiadnat, thanks a bunch.

No, I do NOT need a specific brand, just anything good. I will check up the women's multivitamin though.

Thanks once again.
