hello house. I and my husband went for an interview yesterday. d VO was very intelligent and caught us unawares and we were issued denial under section 214b of which I understand. Right now am stepping down for my husband to apply alone maybe I will be a tie here although we have a daughter or should we reapply?? am confused I need help.

After Eight Month on Administrative Processing Required, I finally got an Email from the embassy asking me to come with another fresh Form 1-20 to complete my Application that has been pending, Ma will like to know if the (APR) has finally been concluded.

Every circumstance is unique and will be judged during your interview - but it never looks good when members of a family are going in as visitors with the purpose of immigrating, and it does an injustice to everyone else in their family who now have to overcome greater scrutiny.

Medical treatment is a valid purpose of travel for a B1/B2 visa, but like any other applicant you will have to prove to the VO that you are a credible applicant as a medical tourist and capable of meeting the requirements under U.S. immigration law.

Please how do I get a true answer on my VISA/passport Status.
NiV lagos is sending generic emails which isnt much help and the help line is completely automated, you don't get to speak to anyone

I tried checking my Status on ceac.gov and it showed 'NO STATUS' for so long until I sent an email asking if it was an error, then it was changed to 'READY'

Is there any means to check that will give me a truthful picture?

You need the same documents that anyone else needs for a B1/B2 interview, which we have gone over repeatedly.

We don't play the odds for you, nor do we answer questions that apply only to specific questions. You need to assess whether you believe you are going to have sufficient ties. This has already been discussed in depth on this thread and others.

LagosNIV:


A regular interview may be a better option so that you can explain your case and have it reflected in the notes. CBP reads the notes that the VOs enter into the system during your interview. There is a good chance that you would be called in ayways if you tried to go through dropbox.

I and my husband have a running USA visa since last year, and we both visited the US just one time each,spent just 7 days on our visit which was last year May, but we have little kids who don't have visas yet. The kids are minors, ages 5 and 7
We all wish to visit the US in december for few days together with our kids who don't have the visas yet
Since they are considered minors, please what procedure will they use to get the visas
Secondly, do they stand the chance of geting the visas, since myself and my husband used them ( our kids ) as ties when we both applied for our visas.
I am a Structural engineer and my husband is a banker.
NB: we don't have any history of family trip abroad before, except local travellings within nigeria

So I qualify for dropbox and I need some clarification on some questions on the form.

1. Under class of visa I selected TEMP( B), the next question however had only BUSINESS & TOURISM B1/B2. I would have thought there would have been a TOURISM/PERSONAL TRAVEL(B2) which fits my intention.

2. Under Work where the option of Monthly income is , if one is self-employed and does not earn monthly would clicking on 'DOES NOT APPLY'
be the appropriate thing to do.

Hello lagosNiv,a friend of mine was denied a student visa on the 4th of august under section 214b.He reapplied three weeks time on the 25th of august but the Vo refused to interview him saying it must be 90 days after being denied.i dont know undstand because i know pepl that was denied and reapplied again even before two weeks and they got it.Please what should he do?

Hello dejdel,

If you have a visa, you are welcome to travel for other B1/B2 purposes for the length of its validity. It is up to Customs and Border Protection to decide whether to grant you access. Make sure you can demonstrate means to cover the cost of your new purpose of travel.

Hello belloluddy,

They apply just like anyone else and, because they're minors, you must accompany them to the interview. If they are adopted or not your biological children, make sure you have evidence of your guardianship role.

Hello salsera,

Select B1/B2. It is the visa class we give which covers many purposes of travel, including tourism, medical care, conferences, meetings, and trainings.

It would be easier if you put your average take home income every month, but you are welcome to put DOES NOT APPLY and explain at the interview.

Hello Ziondee,

There is no requirement to wait 90 days, but we strongly encourage applicants to allow some time to pass between interviews. If you only wait a few weeks, it is unlikely the circumstances in your life have changed enough that it would lead to a different adjudication. Of course it's your decision to apply sooner if you wish, but recognize that this is advice coming to you from a person who makes the decision whether to give a visa or not more than 100 times each day.

I got a B1/B2 visa in January 2013 with the intention of going on vacation in May 2013. However, i realised shortly afterwards that i was pregnant and decided to combine my vacation with birth tourism in August 2013. I recently applied to renew my visa via dropbox and was called in for an interview wherein i was denied on the basis that i said i was going to maimi for 10 days but went to texas for a longer period.

With respect to strong ties in Nigeria, i can prove that i have one as i earn almost a N1mn monthly and my family are based in Nigeria. All my medical bills were paid for in cash while in USA. My dilemma is that i was not aware of the need to notify the embassy if there was a change of location as i assumed that i could use the visa to travel anywhere within the US. Is there any way to remedy the situation as i am due to attend an interview next week for medical and would like to be assessed based on my current situation.

Hello Yetunde2507,

You do not need to inform the embassy if you change travel plans after receiving a visa. I would be surprised if the consular officer informed you that THAT was the reason for denying as we don't give specific explanations beyond 214(b).

Before seeking medical care in the United States, you must be able to demonstrate an ability to cover your planned purpose of travel, and have documentation of your communication with an American provider. Perhaps the adjudicating officer did not feel you were being transparent in your initial interview, or perhaps you accepted public assistance in covering the cost of the medical bills. Either one can be extremely detrimental to future applications.

You are of course welcome to apply again, and be upfront and honest with the officer at the time of interview.
