It is important for us to understand that killing these special blessings of nature would be dentrimental to our existence as a people.

You don't eat your skin today for the sake of hungry that won't wipe your entire generation out tomorrow.

We need to start doing the right thing now even as we have been plagued with bad leadership that will never try to put the right things in place for the people to survive because I'm aware that poverty, illiteracy and backwardness is a contributing factor why people would be more than willing to kill reptiles just for food.
Wake up before we end up being woken up by nature.
Not everything the whites do that we must engage ourselves into, FULLY. We have reserved snakes as well.

Here we go again. The same question I keep asking is what is a dangerous animal like this doing in a residential environment. The only problem I have is if these guys go to their natural habitat and start killing them. Moreover, how many snake experts are out there. I pray you wont encounter a python, let me see if your first reaction will be to run or kill it or to capture it.
If am not mistaken it might have wandered off the lekki Ajah area which still has some bushy parts, unto the road.

If it eats someone nko? I get your point, but we haven't got there yet; there's so much hunger in the land. Cheers.

Am not advocating it be left to roam and harm people, but if the whites could demystify some of these hitherto feared animals, tame and unleash them into a controlled environment and even earn revenue from it,why can't we?
The other day it was an hippo,a rare wildlife animal in Nigeria that was killed in Gombe.
Why do we always come across as very primitive in our ways:politics, environment, religion, brliefs and social habitat?
We won't go far unless radical changes are made in how the African Blackman approaches issues.

This snake was killed by just a single man with cutlass!! Seriously! I think some men got balls!! Right there and then, he sold the snake for 10k! in a very short interview i asked the man how he managed to kill a snake as big as this all alone? He said thats what he does for a living! He kills bigger snakes like this on daily basis! See pics Below!

Please what part of Lekki-Epe expressway is this? In fact, I'm beginning to fear to enter my site.

The other day the hippo was killed cos it was destroying farms and even lives. I hope you guys read all these posts and not just the headlines. As for the snake, I am totally against going to its natural habitat to kill it, my brother this tin was in a residential area. And we dont have the expertise yet to capture it, or maybe.

The whits that you talk about, if a resident finds this, he or she quickly calls the animal experts through a direct line and in less than 5 minutes, they are there. Can that happen here in nigeria ? Who do you want to call. Or you think its all whites that can capture this snake cos thats how you all make it sound. And you guys should be more concerned about insecurity, insurgency, poverty, unemployment, and so many more.......after we have tackled all this, automatically, animal protection wont be a problem

have we sat down to consider why repiles and sort of animals are leaving their original abode and migrating into ours might be the singular fact that our activities could be responsible for all this. Example could be the recent deforestation and depletion of forest by the Dangote group in the free trade zone, where heavy machines are employed day and night to clear open virgin forest for the soul purpose of citing a refinery, tell me where do this poor creatures go.
This is just a food for thought of man continued arrogance and lack of respect for nature.

You hit the right nail on the head! They're all empty-bowled paupers living in the creeks! That snake they just killed now is non-venomous and would never attack a human unless highly provoked. Even its bite cannot kill. This is sheer stupidity and wickedness borne out of poverty in display!

Em, ogbeni, this is naija. The system dosnt work with such protocols.
doctokwus:
I know mine might be a minority opinion, but this is a rich diversity that has just been killed.
If this snake had been caught alive or even tracked and studied,it would have fetched 100x the amount it was sold for.
In other places, rare sizes of snakes like this would be a subject of wide interest and studies by snake experts who would even come from far and wide, earning us much needed foreign exchange.
But here,it has ended in somebody's pot of soup and a mere N10k when it cud have fetched good dollars.

That snake was killed along Epe road, not on your bed. For Christ sake, there are bushes in that area and u can expect wild animals prowling in that vicinity. It's their natural habitat, but you cacophonous catastrophe of nature won't let them live! angry

before you start studying snakes, see this

Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity Between you (snake) and the woman, And between your seed (snakes) and her seed (humans); He (human) shall bruis you on the head, And you (snakes) shall bruise him on the
heel.
"
Though i understand snakes are dangerous(I've killed some), "The Snake" in the scripture you quoted is more of a reference to Satan the Devil than to the various species of snakes on the planet.
