4 GEN : MIG-29, SU-30, JF-17, J-10, Gripen C/D, F-16 Block 10 -40

4.5 GEN or 4 ++ GEN : MIG-29K, MIG-29smt, MIG-35, SU-30SM, SU-30M2, SU-35, J-10B, F-16 Block 52 - Block 60, Eurofighter Typhoon, Rafale.

The main difference is in electronics, and the fact that all 4.5/ 4++ GEN Fighters come with powerful AESA Radar.

Some of the others are, improved stealth features, Hardpoints, TARD systems, improved seamless communications between different platforms.
Gripen A/B is considered 4th Gen, C/D is considered 4.5 gen.....And the new Gripen E/F could be the first 5+/ 6th Gen aircraft according to some experts.

carry out forensic intelligence gathering after the aftermath of west gate terror attack,they did help us nab a VBIED in mombasa with around 300 kg of explosive after crossing our border through somalia and traversing more than 500 km inside kenya to mombasa. after the garrisa university terror massacre and more blundering by our security agents ,i doubt the kenya high security echelon is committed in this war

Our brother @Chukwu feels a lot of negative sensitivity seeing other races other than blacks in Africa. Please don't feed the troll.

Morocco Purchases US-Made M1A1 Abrams Tanks

Rabat – Morocco has allegedly reached an agreement with US Joint Systems Manufacturing Center to purchase over 222 M1A1 Abrams tanks.

A report by Daily Lima News said Morocco will buy tanks under the Foreign Military Sales program.

The same source added that the Moroccan Royal Army awarded a contract to General Dynamics Land Systems for $17 million to provide removal and disposal of 50 M-1A1 frontal turret armor packages.

The deal also includes the installation of the M-1A1 situational awareness frontal turret armor packages for the Kingdom.

This deal dates back to 2013 when U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) met with Moroccan Ambassador to the United States Rachad Bouhlal to discuss the potential M1A1 Abrams tanks sale to the Moroccan Armed Forces.

“I am pleased that the Moroccan government is looking to further build upon this relationship by procuring the Ohio-built Abrams tank,” Portman said in a press release, following the June 2013 meeting.

“Ambassador Bouhlal and I had a good discussion, and he was particularly impressed by the reputation of Ohio’s advanced manufacturing”, revealed the Senator.

This package of M1A1 tank enhancements will contribute to the modernization of Morocco’s tank fleet, improving its ability to meet current and future threats.

Salim Belmeziane, a Moroccan strategy expert told Hespress earlier this month that the closing of this deal was delayed for two years, due to ongoing negotiations on the price tag.

“This deal is expected to create a balance in the body of maneuvers of Morocco and its neighboring Algeria, which acquired advanced tanks from Russia,” Salim Belmezian concluded.

A Somalia diplomat has accused President Hassan Mahamoud of allowing the UAE to train the country's soldiers to go to war in Yemen, instead of fighting al Shabaab.

The diplomat, who requested anonymity, said he had to travel to Nairobi to speak to the media about the issue as he fears for his life.

"I have to tell the whole world to know what is happening. Whereas Amisom troops are fighting al Shabaab insurgents, Somali soldiers will be fighting in Yemen and the whole world has to know," he said.

Russian jets in Syrian skies

Russian fighter pilots are expected to begin arriving in Syria in the coming days, and will fly their Russian air force fighter jets and attack helicopters against ISIS and rebel-aligned targets within the failing state.According to Western diplomats, a Russian expeditionary force has already arrived in Syria and set up camp in an Assad-controlled airbase. The base is said to be in area surrounding Damascus, and will serve, for all intents and purposes, as a Russian forward operating base.

In the coming weeks thousands of Russian military personnel are set to touch down in Syria, including advisors, instructors, logistics personnel, technical personnel, members of the aerial protection division, and the pilots who will operate the aircraft.

300 kenya GSU cops quit Recce unit over poor pay

More than 300 GSU Recce squad officers have quit the job in a year, citing poor pay and mistreatment by their seniors.

Officers who spoke to the the Star on condition of anonymity said their bosses are using their positions to pocket allowances paid to them by the private companies hiring their services.

They said their seniors have refused to let the companies pay the allowances to individual officers’ bank accounts.

The officers said their colleagues recently escorted a convoy of UN transit lorries carrying weaponry from Malaba to Mombasa before they were shipped to Egypt, but have not been paid.

“They spent more than three days on the road and none of them has been paid anything,” said a Recce officer.

The officers said former colleagues have sought employment with the UN and the US embassy.

A local university is said to have hired six while real estate firms have employed the highly trained officers to heighten security in business and residential premises.

“A former colleague now works for a real estate firm in Westlands, Nairobi. Some of us have interviewed for jobs in private firms and are leaving very soon,” an officer said.

Some wealthy individuals have also contracted the services of Kenya's best-trained security personnel, meaning the government will be forced to train others to fill the gaps.

There about 1,200 Recce officers in the country.

So, soon after hosting 5000 SANDF soldiers, Lohatla Army Combat Training Centre will soon be hosting 5000 soldiers for the AU's Exercise Amani Africa 2015. Confirmed participants:

1) SADC - all members;
2) East Africa - all members;
3) West Africa - all members;
4) Central Africa - all members except CAR;
5) North Africa - haven't operationalised regional Brigade but all members sending staff officers, except for Morocco which is not an AU member.

Also, Chaka command & control system will be the command tool for the Ex, so advance teams and planners start arriving next week for training and orientation on the system. (Angola decided to buy Chaka after seeing it in action at last year's SADC Special Forces exercise in Angola. Here's hoping more countries buy it after this Ex!).

Sadly, this lowly planner will miss it all. I've been assigned to Richards Bay for Exercise Oxide 2015, the biannual exercise between SA and France. 4 Recce, 5 Recce, MRS, French Special Forces, French Marines and Paras! grin

PICS: Pre-planning Exercise for Amani Africa in Addis Ababa.

P.S. Can the non-SADC folks here share info and pics of what units their countries are sending?

For one you are going to have to put that in context

1. What type of missiles?
2. Which transport helo's?

I guess I missed your conversation, but to me it sounds like my fello's Saffa's were referring to your smaller helo's and refrencing Rhodesian "K-Cars" which were so effective
