In fact, you can do this from the computer, a status would have definitely popped up after they had sent the document, informing them of the error? What exactly was the guy working on, if he only finally went to the printer as a last resort? Did nobody notice the noise the printer obviously made, while it attempted to print? I give the guy credit for keeping his cool, but the guy kinda messed up too by making a simple rookie mistake - he didn't check the printer first.

This is the equivalent of towing your car to the mechanic for repairs, and the mechanic spending hours looking for a non-existent fault, only to find that the tank was empty.

I understand why the guy made this mistake, even doctors make mistakes like this and students in the exam hall, in my experience it usually happens when a simple problem is blown out of proportion, and they'll be resolved that the solution is anything but the obvious.

I will just try to calm her down oooo by all means cos the high rate of psychotic disorder due to some factors nowadays be it ,lack of husband, no food at home issues, parenting issues, neighbourhood issues, stress from work ,my dear don't also rule out her people from the village. Trust me... If you have worked in a similar place where a client is breathing down your neck and calling you all sorts of name, you may not have time to think straight. I guess that's what happened. If d allowed him do his job, he probably would have figured it out earlier but he was more focused on trying yo please her and leave he wasn't thinking straight

OP the first thing to do is what you did last. You ought to have pinged the printer first to be sure you can reach it.. If u had done that you would have been put of the office in no time. As for the rude woman, she was only doing what she was expected to do. She needed service to do her job and you ought to deliver it right on time, its not her businees how you do it, all she needs is service
So take heart, IT isupport s a thankless job.

He should be happy. I've received calls from customers who would rant and abuse you for not giving them their husbands call logs. They would insult the hell out of you and would refuse to go off the phone.

He claimed to have tried all he could before discovering that there's no paper in the printer.

Every I.T person worth his onion knows that the first step in troubleshooting a faulty printer is to check the ink and paper indication LED. If the ink or paper is finished, the light usually turns red/orange/yellow. This simple procedure would've saved him a lot of time. I guess he was busy opening and closing the printer like he knows what he's doing.

Even when you are the Boss or owned your company, you will still have to deal with people (client) if not you are not in business. I believe the company will still charge the lady for their services and that is where your pay is from. my friend used to say ''if the pay is right , the job must be right''. shikina !

Why would you shout at a client? How frustrated can you claim to be? Your system can develop fault at any tine and in this case, it was a printing challenge which implies you could save your work on a memory stick and go print from another station.

don't you get it..there was no paper in the printer..nothing was wrong with th printer.. I would gladly and politely lecture her a bit on manners and evaluating a problem before raising a false alarm..
