Na was oh, since last week Tuesday I went to open an account with access bank till now I've not been given an account, if I had know I would have opted for Skye bank, just because I want to transact on a cheaper rate of N215 to $1 |

Was charged 30,620,19 for a 90 pound transaction on Sunday, exchange rate would amount to 340 naira to a pound using uba. |

Hi guys , Please I have a situation . I have been making purchases on Amazon for the past two months with my stanbic card. I always chose the option to pay in naira equivalent when checking out. Amazon actually coverts one dollar at 208. I checked out in naira and stanbic sends me the exact deduction from my account . So I woke up to find all my money gone on my stanbic account . After two months of purchases on Amazon . I called customer care n I was told that Amazon billed me lower than the banks exchange rate . Am so furious , don't know what to do. I also used diamond debit card to buy stuffs on Amazon and the amount debited was exactly what Amazon charged . What if I did not have more money on my stanbic card? Would they put my savings account to minus . Please has anyone experienced this ? What should I do about this ? The difference taken from my account is a of money . Thanks for your help |

Omotweezy:My brother don't be furious at stanbic as they have told you the truth, what you see on Amazon checkout in naira isn't the actual bank charge exchange rate, stanbic ibtc exchange rate has fluctuated between 212-220 in the last 2 months, this is one of the reasons why this thread was created, so as to monitor the daily exchange rates charged by most Nigeria banks, I've been charged up to 260 by uba debit card at a point in time on Amazon even when the checkout was still reading at 208, why this is happening, according to banks, is the volatile of the Fx....bla bla bla which I don't understand but do know it's all banks it has affected making them charge at almost equivalent to the black market, sorry bro but this is naija for u |

Omotweezy:Stanbic is a very hopeless bank, they would have put your account in negative balance like they have currently done on my account. However, if you have access to Internet banking, check your balance, if you see two different account balances wait until both account balances become the same, I believe it would have been rectified then. I still wonder how they carry out their billing on international card transactions |

Omotweezy:This is my advice because stanbic planned to play smart with me as well last week after they deducted #220 to USD for three transactions I made an amazon but the cancelled order was debited at #208.7 and refunded at #208.7 only for me to be debited another #5414 last week with a blatant lie they cooked up as difference in fx rate bla bla bla but I took it up with them until I was refunded on Saturday. Go through your transactions and be sure you know the stanbic IBTC rate at the particular time you made the order because amazon don't dictate for stanbic bank |
