Hello, I stated that fine should be based on a standard. I didnt say no fines. There must be a standard so the companies will not assume that they are being victimized. In every country, there is a set fine for defaults, you dont just fine 1billion, 2 trillion etc just like that. I am totally in support of fines, but certainly has to be stipulated fine for certain actions, in fact fines can be more than what is presently charged, but there should be set out and drawn up in agreement with regulating Ministry/Deprtment, MAN and Labour.

True sha.

But they must pay all the fines

By the time you guys create a very wrong impression about government attitude towards foreign companies, don't cry unemployment when they run to Ghana.

Things must be done properly but we must apply wisdom on how we go about it. cool
I still don't get your rambling. Were these companies found culpable or not? Answer me!
Are many companies can you see in Nigeria now that care about their consumers' health? Practically none... is this right?

Do you know how many people suffer kidney/liver problem due to all these wrongly-brewed drinks?

Let them run to Ghana if their government will allow them kill Ghanians.

What else do you expect from a dullard, semi litterate president or the gullible supporters that shamelessly said they were willing to accept NEPA bill as certificate? See I have giving up on Nigeria & with the system in place, they will never get it right till eternity. I have decided to channel my energy in support of Biafra because that is our last hope!! A country with no energy supply, bad network of roads etc still has the temerity to be imposing outrageous fines on the few courageous firms that invested in Nigeria. So this is how this lazy & myopic government is going to raise funds?? Poorer countries like Ethiopia & kenya are putting in place good policies that is attracting FDI, nobody is coming to Nigeria anymore, capital flight is the order of the day & massive youth unemployment. Buhari is passionately reversing the significant gains made by GEJ & at the rate we are going, we will soon become the Greece of Africa. God bless GEJ! God bless NOI & may God bless all men of goodwill.

You write this above and you say others have small brains.. oh the irony!!! So in your own thinking, Guinness will relocate to nearby countries to do what exactly?? Nigeria is probably one of their highest earners if not the highest and you think they'll relocate. A huge brand like Guinness should never be engaged in acts like these. They're rich enough to follow rules and regulations properly. Things they won't attempt in countries they earn less than half of what they make in Nigeria is what we want them to keep doing so that they don't "relocate".. smh

This is like telling a beautiful wealthy girl to stay with her abusive husband that depends on her to make money to keep taking the beating.

It's time we wake up in Nigeria and earn respect from these people/corporations. Believe me, they have more to lose.

Its really amazing how people think, you won't know how to build a good country if all the solutions of all the problems in the world hit you in the face. If what they're fined for is indeed true, NAFDAC should be applauded. I'm sorry, have you left Nigeria before? I'm asking because you're referencing other countries and I really doubt you know what goes on there. Let a company as huge as Guinness try this in the US and see what happens to them, they'll be on radio, tv, billboards, giving out free stuff, apologizing to appease people. When there was the BP oil spillage, BP did everything they could to remedy it. You see ads every hour on the hour about the clean up efforts, how they're providing things for people that were affected. I left the US 2013 and I haven' been back there but I won't be surprised if those BP commercials still run. Attitude like yours is why these oil spills happen in Nigeria everyday and we act dumb because we don't want them to leave. Are you kidding? Do you really think they're doing us a favor by being here? These companies are making money and they're making huge money. Go to Guinness Nigeria now and you'll see these English folks and Lebanese folks colluding to squeeze out Nigerians because life is just too sweet for them there. Go ask Joe (Lebanese) that works for Guinness/Diageo to go back to Lebanon now if he won't curse you out. We need to start acting like we know our self worth. These same companies in other countries that they don't even earn nearly as much as Nigeria take pains to make sure they follow rules and regulations, they get to Nigeria and use those rules to wipe their behinds but we want them continue. Are you guys not tired of the suffering in this Nigeria? Are you guys not tired of these foreigners coming in here, making loads and money in our country and in turn treating us like animals. Abeg have a re-think
