WRONG PLACE TO REST

READ 1 SAMUEL 26:4-12

MEMORISE: Get up, go away! For this is not your resting place, because it is defiled, it is ruined, beyond all remedy. (Micah 2:10)

While everyone was troubled by the mighty tempest on the sea, Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep (Jonah 1:5). While the whole realm of Shushan was perplexed becase of Haman's vociferous wicked indictment against the Jews, though in particular, the oppsition was aginst Mordecai, this same foe Haman sat down with the king to drink and merry (Esther 3:15).
And while King Saul had cannily turned David to restless fugitive, there he was, resting and sleping at a wrong place (1 Sam 26:7). You might say that that serves Saul right, but David knew better. Wrong place for the annointed King to be found resting! Behold a believer, anointed in Christ, found walking by the counsel of the ungodly, standing in the way of sinners, sitting in the seat of the scornful. What a wrong place of resting! Every wrong associate you keep (like that of Samson and Delilah) endangers your soul and opens you up to destruction, sometimes irreversibly. Beware!
Ahithophel, the anointed counsellor of David was found in the council of the rebel, Absalom. The same was Judas Iscariot found resting with the God-forsaken, envious, rebellious religious leaders of Jesus' days on earth. Both of them suffered similar fate: they died shamefully. Don't rest in the camp of God's enemies. You can't survive being declared an enemy of God. Avoid evil companionship that corrupts good manners. Watch out as you sit, rest, and discuss today and always.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. I refuseto be found resting/relaxing where I shouldn't, in Jesus' name
2. I dissociate myself from every ungoldly influence that can send my life into abyss, in the name of Jesus.
3. Pray that the Almighty God will make the legal luminafies both at the bar and in the bench to be more conscientious and godly in delivery of their services.

FLEE ... FOLLOW ... FIGHT
READ 1 TIMOTHY 6:6-12
MEMORISE: Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. (1 Corinthians 9:26)
Christianity isn't just a religion but a life of Christlikeness occasioned by the redemptive work of Christ perfected for us, wherewith a believer's life becomes revealing of who God really is among men. We are not called into supercilious ceremonial worship in the temple but to a solemn daily consecration.
Paul the apostle admonished the young Bishop Timothy to always teach his congregation what godliness with contentment entails. But how would a believer be contented in a world surrounded with lots of affluence, political greed and public extortions? How would a heaven's pilgrim be godly in a society where the abundance of what a man has and the number of countries he has visited are used to measure his level of spirituality and acceptability to God, the Church and the society? The apostle writes, But thou, O man of God, FLEE these things; and FOLLOW after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. FIGHT the good fight of faith... (1 Tim 6:11-12; KJV).
Here, the Christian is charged to run away from (flee) corrosive habits that can jeopardize his fitness in the art of exercising himself rigorously (fight) so as to be found walking in (following) the way of God-likeness.
As you go about today's activities, God counts on you to represent Him well on earth. May you not be found wanting in any way. Be sensitive (Prov 4:15).
PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord my God, let Your will be my way today. Amen
2. Lord, help me to flee what You hate, follow Your desires, and successfully fight the good fight You have ordained for me.
3. Lord, work upon the wives-beating husbands and husbands-beating wives to stop bruising and bashing their spouses.

ENSLAVEMENT TO ENTHRONEMENT
READ ESTHER 2:5-18
MEMORISE: Every day he walked back and forth near the courtyard of the harem to find out how Esther was and what was happening to her. (Esther 2:11)
Life is not static. Do not be hopeless. God can still work it out.

Esther was a slave girl who was adopted and brought up by Mordecai her uncle after the death of her parents (v. 7). After the dethronement of Queen Vashti from the palace of King Ahasuerus at Shushan as a result of her pride, a replacement was sought for. Among the young virgins that were brought to the palace for the 12-month preparation before the choice of the would-be-Queen would be made, was Esther. Yes, enslaved but would soon be enthroned.

The preparations for beautifying women was a Persian law required by then, and this would not in any way hinder Esther from fulfilling God’s purpose as she was well-trained, well-adjusted and scripturally fulfilled (cf. 1 Peter 3:1-4). Esther followed her uncle’s instructions to keep her identity to herself, most likely to protect her from racial discrimination (v. 10)
Mordecai, as a good and godly parent, never slacked in his responsibility as he took time to look after her welfare (v. 11). Fathers rape their daughters, leaders abuse their followers, even some preachers abuse their members. Mordecai is a challenge to us.

You shall be celebrated, in Jesus’ name. Do not look at your present position with disdain. God knows everything. Esther’s enthronement was to provide for and protect her people in exile. God is preparing you for enthronement to advance His kingdom, blessing His people by seeking their welfare, and accomplishing His purposes here on earth. Esther’s personal preparation included, being a virgin, being teachable to God and man, being obedient to all instructions. Are you preparing for the next level? Start now.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, let me be favoured for elevation (promotion), in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord, in whatever capacity You position me, count me among the Heaven-compliant, in Jesus’ name.
3. Pray that all Church workers be duly committed to their God-given assignments to the Praise of His glory.

COURAGE

READ ESTHER 4:6-16

MEMORISE: For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14)

The word courage is the ability to do something or act on something one believes despite danger or disapproval. This was the action portrayed in the life of Esther who could be described as a woman of courage.

When there was a plot from Haman to destroy all the Jews in the land of Shushan and which was eventually backed up with the King's authority by a letter written to that effect, Mordecai made this known to Queen Esther. Esther also made known to his uncle of the grievous consequences on her if she would attempt to see the King when uninvited (v.11). What was Mordecai's response (v. 13-14)? Mordecai's words pierced her and on realizing that her life had far greater purpose than merely maintaining her comfort zone, she committed herself to her uncle's advice even at a greater risk of her life (If I perish! I perish). What action did she demand from the Jews in which she and those under her also participated (v.16)? Prayer and fasting for 3 days.

Is there any task the Holy Spirit is leading you into? Why do you have to be afraid of doing it? Is it money, men or material you lack? How far have you waited on the Lord to achieve these? Esther's heart turned away from her self-centred comfort to fulfil God's purpose in her new place. In any capacity you are today, you are not there for enjoyment sake, it is for a purpose. Esther's courage led to the deliverance of God's people. Wherever you are, be courageous to expand God's kingdom there. The Lord will help you in Jesus' name (Amen).

PRAYER POINTS:

1. You, spirit of timidity that is drawing me back from fulfilling the purpose of my creation, leave me alone, in Jesus' name.

2. O Lord, give me the right zeal to fulfil my destiny here on earth.

3. Pray for all God's children that they may no longer disappoint Him in the political or government positions they are holding in this country.

IN EVERYTHING, GIVE THANKS

READ JOHN 6:5-13

MEMORISE: Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

One of the banes of our society today is unthankful spirit, ungrateful heart. "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud..., ungrateful... For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened" (2 Timothy 3:1,2; Romans 1:21).

Due to rapid increase in knowledge, amazing discoveries, and successful inventions, man has gradually made god of himself. The same mentality is gradually overrunning the Church of God today. Talented and gifted ministers of God have become celebrities while oratory is highly esteemed. Talented and skilled church workers (singers, musicians, etc.) become easily puffed up, sometimes calling bluff of churches that were responsible in the first place for their trainings and skills' development. Material wealth, regardless of how it is gotten, is applauded, while a lack is derided. And this ought not to be. What do you have that you did not receive? Who should be applauded and reverenced? The GIVER, the receiver or the gift? (1 Cor 4:7)

When the disciples were faced with the challenge of meeting the crowd's need (food), Jesus gave thanks over the little at hand (John 6:11). Many believers today have become grumblers, always murmuring, instead of being thankful over their little provisions. When your funds are low, give thanks. When death and sickness strike unexpectedly, give thanks. When success comes your way, give thanks. In everything, always give thanks, for this is the will of God for all His children, and that includes you.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. O Lord, I give thanks unto You for You are good, and Your mercies endure forever.

2. Lord, endow me with the attitude of gratitude in all my ways.

3. Pray for everyone undergoing one form or the other of surgical operations, that God should work through the medical personnel to make such operations totally successful.

CURSES... CROSS... CROWN

READ NUMBERS 22:1-6

MEMORISE: There is no sorcery against Jacob, no divination against Israel. It will now be said of Jacob and of Israel, 'See what God has done!' (Numbers 23:23)

The opposite of hot is cold; both are real. The opposite of good is evil; both are real. In just the same way, blessings are real and so are curses. Both blessings and curses belong to the invisible, spiritual realm. They are vehicles of the supernatural, spiritual power. Blessings produce good and beneficial results; curses produce bad and harmful results. The main medium of both blessings and curses is words. Such words may be spoken or written or merely uttered inwardly, yet the effects are real. The curse Balak wanted to pronounce was intercepted by God and turned into blessings (Num 23:cool.

Many Christians who should be enjoying blessings are actually enduring curses. Why? It could be due to ignorance, negligence, or wilful disobedience. As long as God's perspective is concerned, "No misfortune is seen in Jacob, no misery observed in Israel" (Num 23:21), surely there is no enchantment or any divination that would work against him. Put your name in place of Jacob's in those verses, and it is so for you. Only that you let God be able to witness that there is found in you no iniquity. What curses could not achieve in the lives of God's people, sin came in and did exactly (Rev 2:14).

Beloved, let the God of Jacob through the finished work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary be the intermediate against all curses meted against your life (Gal 3:13). You will wear blessings (spiritual, material and eternal) as crown only if you will walk circumspectly by the Word of God (Psalms 119:2; Jn. 15:7).

PRAYER POINTS:

1. O Lord, let Your Cross cancel all curses against me.

2. Lord, turn my misery to miracles, turn my sorrow to singing, turn my troubles to testimonies.

3. Pray for the bereaved around you, that God should give them the fortitude to bear the losses and not misbehave in reactions to the losses.

FOREVER BLESSED

READ GALATIANS 3:6-9

MEMORISE: But God said to Balaam, "Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed." (Numbers 22:12)

About 4,000 years ago, God made a choice that has continually affected all subsequent history. He was looking for a man who would meet His conditions so that he might ultimately become a channel of His blessings to all nations. The man He chose was called Abram (later renamed Abraham).

God's purpose in choosing Abraham is unfolded in Genesis 12:2-3, where characteristically, four promises of blessing interposed with a curse are pronounced. In Genesis 27:29, when Isaac blessed his son Jacob, he also extended to his the same protection that God originally provided for Abraham. And now, our text avows, "Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: 'All nations will be blessed through you.'" (Gal 3:7-cool.

Thus, you are forever blessed. This is real, nothing changes or terminates it. Whatever blessing God has brought upon Abraham and the Jewish people (his descendants) in the physical, every Christian receives unquestionably in Christ and by His Spirit. "So those who have faith are blesses long with Abraham, the man of faith... in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit" (Gal 3:9, 14). If you know and believe this Word, then live as forever blessed.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Thank You God for blessing me eternally in Christ.

2. Today, I am free from all curses of legalism and carnality, in Jesus' name.

3. Pray that the mighty Hand of God will stop all forms of violence against the less privileged in the land.

GOD'S EXPECTATION AND INSPECTION
READ REVELATION 22:7-12
MEMORISE: Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. (Rev 22:12)
It is often said that, "People often do what you inspect, not what you expect". This is to say that human beings naturally won't do what they know is right until they are supervised with regular and close monitoring. And our expectations are always high on people only to meet with disappointments, heartbrokenness, because we only expect but seldom inspect.
However, God our Creator does not only expect certain things to be done by us but also conscientiously inspects them (Psalm 14:2). For instance, He gave King Saul an assignment through Prophet Samuel in 1 Samuel 15. He didn't stop at that, He went ahead to inspect it. Otherwise, how would He have known that the king exercised half obedience if he wasn't well monitored by His unsearchable spiritual monitoring mechanism?
Every leader only expects and fails to inspect will have his or her hope dashed on efficiency and effectiveness (Matt 20:1ff). It is God's expectation that we live a holy life fully (1 Thess 4:3-5). He expects us to be totally obedient to His injunctions (cf. Deut 28:1). He wants total trust and confidence in Him alone, having jettisoned other gods served in the ignorant days (1 Cor. 12:2)
However, God's people are sometimes disobedient and rebellious by neglecting the total counsel of the Almighty! (Jer 6:16). God gives times to all of us to amend our ways on His expectations before the Great Day of Divine Inspection! (Zeph 1:14ff). If Jesus comes for inspection today, are you ready? Won't there be excuses? Remember God rejects excuses (Luke 14:16ff). God's day of inspection is near; be ready!
PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord, let me live consciously as one who knows that he is being supervised by You.
2. Lord, let Your Spirit of holiness and faithfulness always moderate the desires and ambitions of our youths.
3. Lord, let every straying youth see the dangers of straying and return home to You with broken, contrite heart.

GO, TELL

READ MARK 5:12-20

MEMORISE: And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" (Romans 10:15)

The CAC Hymn No 869 sings, 'O happy day that fixed my choice ... Happy day! When Jesus washed my sins away ...' Wow! Every Christian has a testimony to share and a story to tell about the salvation of his or her soul, if indeed he/she is truly saved. But when last did you share the Goodnews with someone?

When the unnamed madman was healed, delivered and was in his right mind, the Master commanded him: "Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you" (Mark 5:19). What a great privilege to share with others how good and great the Lord has been to us!

Stay away from the camp of the ingrates. Go and tell someone today how awesome the Saviour is to you. Share the testimony of your salvation and deliverance. You cannot overdo it. Someone, a friend, neighbour, colleague, or a passer-by is possibly waiting to hear your story for their much needed encounter too.

"So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis (ten cities) how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed (Mark 5:20). May you always produce good and abiding fruit for the Lord our Saviour. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me and give me real courage to the bearer of Your gospel everywhere I find myself.

2. O Lord, as I share Your Goodnews with others, confirm it and save them.

3. Lord, make evangelism and missions the top priority on the minds of the entire leadership and membership of Your Church in this nation.

SOUL-TRAVAIL
READ GALATIANS 4:12-19
MEMORISE: Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:16)

The world is confused because the Church seems to be perplexed. Isaiah 66:8c says, "Yet no sooner is Zion in LABOUR than she gives birth to her children." The KJV puts it thus, "as soon as Zion TRAVAILED, she brought forth her children." This is the most fundamental element in the work of Soul-winning. Can children be born without pain? Can there be birth without travail? Yet, how many expect in the spiritual realm what is not possible in the natural?
Jacob, you remember, travailed until he prevailed. But, who is really travailing in prayer today for the saving of this impenitent generation and congregation of the unbelieving believers? Paul was mighty in words, so also was he in intercessory prayers (Eph 1:16-18; Php 1:3-4).
Conversion is the operation of the Holy Spirit, and prayer is the power that secures that operation. Souls are not saved by human efforts but by God in answer to believers' intercessions for and persuasions of the yet unsaved.
Charles G. Finney said: "The very idea of effectual prayer is that it affects its objects." It is the principle advocated and achieved by Paul in Galatians 4:19. Beloved, you want to see souls saved through you? It's not so much a case of finding time but of making time to pray through. You can if you so will. When prayer decays, soul harvest delays. Rise to our noble Christian duty to see the world brought to its knees under Christ. Jesus demonstrated this eternal truth.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Enable me, O Lord, to travail successfully in bringing forth spiritual children for You.
2. Father, raise intercessors like Abraham who selflessly interceded on the greedy Lot's behalf, not allowing him to perish with Sodom.
3. Lord, make the ministry of intercession more attractive and productive among Your people, in Jesus' name.

RELIGIOUS BUT UNRIGHTEOUS

READ 2 THESSALONIANS 3:1-6

MEMORISE: I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. (Romans 16:17)

Is God still in the business of saving the lost? He does that still, but only through the regenerated and consecrated. There are many professing salvation but their lives lack true conviction that results in leading others to the saving knowledge of Christ. It is one thing to hold up the hand and sign a decision card, but it is quite another thing to get truly saved and sanctified.

The Gospel is mocked in many quarters today because there is falsehood in the brotherhood, sisterhood, and even among the clergy. And to this end, Jude warns (as in verse 23), "snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear-hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh", meaning that in the attempt to be used by God to save others, do not be careless, lest you are entangled in dappled sins, worldliness and the likes.

Do not join the religious, who equally are unrighteous. Just as you need to speak forth the Word, and pray to be delivered from unreasonable and wicked people; much more than that, withdraw yourself from every brother, sister, or minister walking contrary to the sound doctrines of the Scripture you have received.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, give me total victory over those unrighteous, ungodly tendencies plaguing my relationship with You.

2. Lord Jesus, make me Your everlastingly useful vessel in Your hand and house.

3. Lord, openly expose the so-called ministers of the gospel who hypocritically use means in the ministry, and their deceit, in Jesus' name.

SUFFERED FOR YOU
READ ISAIAH 53:4-6

MEMORISE: But He was pierced for out transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. (Isa 53:5)

Suffering is the opposite of enjoyment. It is a situation, an experience, and an encounter that does not bring joy. It is an unpleasant condition. A position of discomfort, something that does not bring peace and well-being is suffering. Though, it is possible for someone to be enjoying and at the same time suffering.

Nobody wants to suffer; even God who has no flesh but became flesh to save the fleshly man knows what suffering is. It is not palatable. Although man hates suffering, yet it is unavoidable in some cases. The pleasure-seeking nature in man always prefer the homoeostatic position, neither favouring nor encouraging suffering. However, before one eats, won't he work? Beside the work he does for livelihood, he has to prepare the food. Doesn't that involve some forms of 'suffering'. Be ready to face sufferings resulting from legitimate, godly engagements/involvements, and not the illegitimate (1 Peter 4:15).

But out of the unquatifiable and unimaginable love of God, He sent His Son to come and suffer for what He did not do that we caused. The suffering and pains we cannot bear and complete for eternity, Jesus bore on our behalf. He came to free us from torment and anguish. Shouldn't you personally acknowledge, appreciate and accept Him as your Lord and saviour, having redeemed and brought us back with His own precious blood, costlier than silver, gold or diamond? (1 Peter 1:18-19). It is only whoever accepts Christ's free offer that is free from eternal condemnation and suffering.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, thank You for taking all these pains for my redemption.

2. Lord, I believe in and accept the redemptive work You perfected on Calvary. Help me to always be ready to suffer anything for You.

3. Lord, help believers to victoriously cope with situations in parts of the world where the gospel is outlawed whether partially or totally.

ESTHER'S BANQUET

READ ESTHER 5:1-8

MEMORISE: On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." (Romans 12:20)

On the third day of the fasting which Esther had commanded her uncle (Mordecai) and all the Jews in the land of Shushan to observe, she prepared herself by putting on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king's palace. God gave her the king's favour and she was able to invite the king and his second in command, Haman (God's people major enemy who had concluded plans to extirpate the people at all cost) to a banquet.

The way some issues are tackled when God is in charge goes beyond human imagination. Why the banquet even in the midst of harrowing experience of unwholesome intimidation? The answer is simple. No one can put God in a match box. His way, nobody fathoms. Check CAC Gospel hymn book 823. All you need do is total submission to His directives.

During the fasting period which was observed by all the Jews, including Esther and her servants, they must have offered prayers like that of Nehemiah recorded in Nehemiah 4:4; 6:9. God knows how to deal with those who portend to be our enemies if only our ways are pleasing to Him (Prov 16:7). We also need His wisdom to take the right step at the right time, so that we don't misfire, causing our own downfall into the enemies' traps and desires.

Esther's Banquet portrays living in God's wisdom (Matt 10:16) to deal with enemies, both the identified and the disguising. It is also in accordance with the biblical injunction of our generosity towards our enemy (Romans 12:19-20). The Lord will help you, in Jesus' name (Amen).

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, give me the wisdom to deal with those who portend to be against me.

2. Lord, break with Your iron rod the efforts of those who are against the spread of the gospel in this country.

3. Lord, continue to strengthen those in the mission fields and provide for all their needs, in Jesus' name.

TOOL IN SATAN'S HAND

READ ESTHER 5:9-14

MEMORISE: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. (Ephesians 6:10)

Thank God for another day the Lord has purposefully allowed us to witness. To Him alone be all the glory. Today's story is about a man called Haman who lived and worked in the city of Shushan, the capital of Persia during King Ahasuerus' reign. Among all the officials working in all the 127 provinces under King Ahasuerus, he was placed above all. He had all it took to be influential—great riches, lots of children, etc. (vv. 11-12).

Despite all these provisions for which he should have always shown gratitude to the Almighty God, he was unhappy, not contented with what he had. Why? The more he saw Mordecai at the gate to the king's palace and that he did not stand or tremble before him, the more he was filled with indignation against him (vv. 9, 13).

Are you still looking for the praise of men after God has favoured you by that position above those you competed with? That is wrong. You are there in your new position to appreciate and honour God. Stop chasing the shadow. Be diligent and never expect to be hero-worshipped.

When Haman tabled the matter before his friendsand Zeresh his wife, they advised him to erect a gallows of fifty cubits high where Mordecai would be hanged. He did that but was the one who ended up on the gallows. Dear reader, beware lest the devil be using you to accomplish his nefarious intentions while you think you want to get what belongs to you at all cost.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Pray that the Lord will make you a vessel of honour to the glory of His name.

2. Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to lead our Church leaders in the onerous tasks given to them.

3. Pray that the Lord should touch the heart of wicked people (kidnappers, ritualists, armed robbers, fraudsters, insurgents, etc.) in our societies.

GOD SEES AND REWARDS

READ ESTHER 6:1-14

MEMORISE: God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. (Hebrews 6:10)

Once upon a time, there was a man of Jewish extraction living in exile in a city called Shushan. As a slave, and being a gateman, he had no option than to stay within the confinement of the assignment given to him in the palace of the Persian King Ahasuerus.

Topmost on his priority list was that even in a strange land of enslavement, he wouldn't forget the legacy bequeathed to him, hence, his refusal to bow down or pay obeisance to anyone, the influential officer Haman inclusive, except YAHWEH, the true Living God. The man's name is Mordecai. On duty one day, he learnt of a plot to assassinate the king. Because of his loyalty, he unmasked the plan, thereby saving the king's life, and saving the whole nation from great embarrassment (Esther 2:21-22). Obviously, Mordecai didn't do that good work with the expectation of being rewarded in any form, but unknown to him, his good deed was recorded and documented.

It is against God and godliness to know good but not do it accordingly (James 4:17). Do not hesitate to do good to others because God takes note of such little details. Mordecai did this not for self-glory, and because God has not stopped working, there came his night of rememberance when the king could not sleep. The following morning, he became a man of recognition and honour throughout the city of Shushan. The miracle was too timely (v. 1).

Do whatever good that occurs to you. Rest in knowing God who sees all things; He will never forget your acts of service, for in due time you will surely be rewarded (Gal 6:9; 2 Thess 3:13).

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me to do the right things at the right times with the right motives that I'll be remember for in life and in You.

2. God, let the grace of giving be greatly manifested in the life of every believer.

3. God, let the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit be manifested in the life of every believer.

BE SENSITIVE
READ JOSHUA 9:3-27
MEMORISE: Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said, "Why did you deceive us by saying, 'We live a long way from you,'while actually you live near us?" (Joshua 9:22)
To be sensitive is to be quick to detect or discover, respond to, or be affected by sight changes, signals, or influences. It is always to be at alert to the happenings in our environment. However, from the Christian perspective, it does not carry the idea of living a suspicious life with everybody. As good as they may be, God has not given us for nothing, the ability to see with our eyes, to hear with our ears, to smell with our nose, to taste with our tongue and to feel with our skin. Because of their limitations, we need the grace of God to help moderate the use of these senses.
Beyond that, both in a secular or sacred place, life experience shows that there are many that are seemingly simple but delicate, and these must be cautiously handled. Of course, Charm and grace are deceptive... (Prov. 31:30; Amplified).
For protection, the Gibeonites acted craftily in coming to the camp of the Israelites as if they were from a far country. The Israelites weren't sensitive enough to inquire deeply as to where they came from; they were deceived by the visitors' appearance and pity-inducing but untrue story. It was too late for Joshua because the Israelites had hurriedly made a covenant with them before inquiring from the LORD (Josh 9:14).
Are you a child of God planning to partner with somebody in business, looking for a spouse, looking for a tenant, or you want to procure a landed property? In all these and others, ask God to lead you through and be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me not to fall into the hands of people of dubious character.
2. Pray for all ministers of God that they would be able to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit so as not to bring trouble on God's people.
3. Ask God to show mercy on the falsely accused and docked, and deliver them by His power.

DO IT WITH CARING HEART
READ NEHEMIAH 5:14-19
MEMORISE: Remember me with favour, O my God, for all I have done for these people. (Nehemiah 5:19)

One day "a man of God" openly said, "If I were to be the then minister-in-charge of this beautiful edifice (church building), by the time it would be completed, I would have constructed my own house". Even if this a common practice among the people of the world, should this unwholesome behaviour be found where the name of Christ is being preached?

In the assignment of rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem which he surrendered himself to do with all sacrifice with his men under terrible conditions, but which was successfully completed by God's mercy, Nehemiah chose not to act like the greedy, self-centered and selfish governors that preceded him. What were the practices of the former governors? ...placed a heavy burden on ... lorded it over the people (Neh 5:15).

Christian living calls for self-examination and a repentant heart. God has called us into new life in Christ Jesus for which the Bible says, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Cor 5:17).

Are you in the public or private sector of our economy? Are you an artisan or a contractor? Do not make merchandise of God's people and work. Governor Nehemiah did not involve in the atrocities of his predecessors, he feared God (v. 15); he sacrificed a lot for his people's benefits (v. 18). God is faithful. Therefore, it was (is) impossible for Him to forget the good deeds of Nehemiah.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, give me the right heart/attitude to serve Your people aright.
2. Lord, give us leaders who will have Your fear at heart, not profit minded in their dealings with and in God's people and work.
3. Pray that God should help us to put a stop to the spate of road, air, rail and water accidents in this nation.

ALL IS WELL (1)
READ 2 KINGS 4:22-26
MEMORISE: As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in Whom he believed - the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were. (Romans 4:17)

The devil fights only those he knows have great things to achieve in life - the visionary. You are one of them. 'All is well' is a faith mentality that allows peace to rule, and clears your mind amidst depression, worries, fear and anguish. You may be delayed in the way of success, but God will ensure that you are never denied as long as you play by His rule.
The Shunemite woman, though barren till old age, later gave birth to a son. But sad to say, the same son, no longer a baby by then, fell sick (severe headache) and died within a very short period. Surprisingly, the mother never gave up on him. Great trials are necessary preparation for great triumph. When situations seem hopeless and all possibilities for a turnaround are exhausted or look very bleak, be high in your hope in God. He is doing something in the background that will soon upturn the whole situation in your favour, thereby giving you a weighty testimony.
Always, go to him in prayers, believing and pronouncing that All is Well. You serve the God who calls the things that are not as though they were. This is the "All Is Well" mentality. This is not just being positive, but prophetic. It is beyond being a positive thinker. Anybody, including unbelievers, can be positive thinkers. But prophetically seeing light at the end of the dark tunnel is a matter of genuine faith in the person and power of God in Christ. The woman declared, All Is Well, and she had it all Well! What about you?

PRAYER POINTS:
1. In Jesus' name, I boldly declare, All Is Well with me always and in all my ways.
2. Oh Lord, may I always see Your mighty Power in action even in the most impossible situations.
3. Pray that God should help us to reform our Civil Service so that workers will sacrificially eschew selfish tendencies for the betterment of the nation.

ALL IS WELL (2)
READ DANIEL 3:14-18
MEMORISE: If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. (Daniel 3:17)

Today, we read and see how the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, made an All Is Well declaration even in the face of burning fiery furnace. When a man can conquer the fear in his heart, he will overcome the heat around him. When all facts say, "this situation is horrible", the faith of such a man says, "All Is Well", because he sees the God who can turn circumstances around for his good over and against the apparent gravity of the challenging situation. This is what those 3 Hebrew youths did, and God didn't disappoint them. He came to their rescue, rendering the power of the fiery furnace of no effect, even to the amazement of those present and the glory of His Holy Name. This is how God wants His children to live their lives day by day.
Prophet Isaiah declared under divine inspiration, "Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds" (Isa 3:10). The righteous here speaks of those who are made righteous in God through the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom 5:18,19). They look unto Him and are not ashamed.
You too might have been saying or thinking like Rebecca in Genesis 25:22, "If all is well, why do I like this?" The Scripture says, "So she went to inquire of the LORD." In moments of your confusion and lack of correspondence, talk to God. "All shall be well," He assures. And you will never be ashamed. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Today, I receive the unusual and uncommon breakthrough, through Christ Jesus my Lord.
2. Oh Lord, make my life a living testimony of the fact that 'All is Well' and works well, in Jesus' name.
3. Lord, come to the rescue of believers who the devil has seemingly boxed to serious corners of life, and rescue them by Your mercy.

ABUNDANT RAIN SOON
READ 1 KINGS 18:41-45
MEMORISE: I will bless them and the places surrounding My hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing. (Ezekiel 34:26)

You can count on the immeasurable provisions of God anytime, especially in times of famine and lack. God never disappoints. The fruit time it rained, the earth was devastated and ruined (Gen. 6:13,17;7:1,4,12,21-24). And ever since, God had set His bow in the cloud as a token of the covenant between Him and the earth that the waters (abundant rain) shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh (Gen 9:13-16), except where there are resultant phenomenon of ceaseless wars and regional ecological devastation, which are better imagined, watched on the satellite than experienced.
'And Elijah said to Ahab', "Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain"; this time around, not as flood but blessing to the people, a relief to the years of drought suffered due to their idolatry (1 Kings 18:1-2,41,45). Elijah never undertook anything for which he wouldn't have the courage to ask the blessings of Heaven. Be like him. God's mercies are unfathomable!
God promised His people through His prophet, Ezekiel that He would remove devastation and the effects of desolation by sending down inexhaustible showers of His blessing upon His people and their land in season, i.e. at the appointed time (Ezek 34:36).
Why don't you return to God to seek His face faithfully? Only He has the power to bring down blessings upon your life that come with no sorrow or unnecessary toiling.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, let Your grace and mercy release the abundance of Your blessings over and into my life, marriage/family and undertakings, in Jesus' name.
2. Oh Lord, bless Your Church with showers of blessings and remarkable growth this year and beyond.
3. King of the universe, reclaim this nation from those who have hijacked it for their selfish ends.

BOW OR BURN
READ DANIEL 3:14-18
MEMORISE: Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.'" (Luke 4:cool

The passage we read today pictures how men of great status in the society, out of their reprobate minds do carve images, call them gods and shamefully serve them (Rom 1:21-25). Till date, people still carve out of different images in different ways physically and in their minds, call them gods, on most cases in their minds and sometimes in words and in actions, and most unexpectedly prioritize them above God and His things; that is idolatry in both the crude and modernized form.
Though the three Hebrew boys, while in Babylonian captivity and in the service of King Nebuchadnezzar, were threatened and maltreated, the God of Israel in whom they trusted, saved and delivered them unscathed (Dan 3:27). God has promised to exchange your frustrations for promotion (Dan. 3:30). Relax and see Him act out His good script for your benefit.
There is no great future and deliverance for any people whose faith in God has burned out. Do not be scared of man's bully when it comes to obeying the voice of the Lord your God. Peter spoke out in defiance to the religious leaders' order to stop preaching the gospel of Christ, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God" (Acts 4:19). Daniel, in the Den of Lions, anchored his hope on God and was delivered. In your Christian race, there would be moments your allegiance will be challenged. All you need do is know Whom you believed in (cf. Dan 11:32). You can't trust God too much.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. I shall not bow to the wiles of the wicked one or be burnt by his machineries, in Jesus' name.
2. Oh Lord, visit the missionaries who are being threatened and maltreated by the devil and his agents on the field, deliver them and shame the devil.
3. Pray that God should visit those parts of the world placing restriction on the gospel of Christ, with His power and open effectual doors for it.

GROW IN FAITH
READ MATTHEW 16:5-12
MEMORISE: For in the gospel a righteousness
from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by
faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The
righteous will live by faith." (Romans 1:17)
"Life isn't fair" is a common expression of
disappointment with and frustration in what life
seemingly offers that many people make. And if
this is true, then the question is: how does one
get the fair share of life? Because this life is full
of disproportion, man needs to turn to God and
grow daily in his faith walk. Only God treats all
His creatures with equity.
Yesterday is history. Today is all the currency
you have. Tomorrow is an unused proficiency.
Isn't that interesting? As the past speaks loudly
to the hearing ear, Jesus said to His disciples:
"Do you still not understand? Don't you remember
the five loaves for the five thousand, and how
many basketfuls you gathered? Or the seven
loaves for the four thousand, and how many
basketfuls you gathered?" (Matt 16:9-10). Thus,
He challenged them to grow in faith as to God's
ability to provide when and where it's seemingly
impossible. Faith, when kept alive, gathers
strength and becomes a practice (developing
into habit and then character) than speculations.
Beware, lest you act like the Israelites who
spoke against the Omnipotent, querying His
competence: "Can God spread a table in the
desert?" (Psalm 78:19). Don't forget that timely
divine assistance is a revelation obtainable to
the righteous only as they journey from faith to
faith. Grow in faith!
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me to grow more and more in faith
as Your Holy Spirit has more and more on me
daily.
2. Lord, visit our Youth Fellowship with Your
mighty power for great and lasting revival that
will build great men and women of faith in You.
3. Lord, let the desire/passion to walk and work
wholeheartedly with You consume the leadership
and membership of Your people.

BE HAPPY
READ JONAH 4:4-6
MEMORISE: Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God. (Psalms 146:5)

Spurgeon once said, 'It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.' In whatever circumstances of life you find yourself, be happy always in God, by the means of the following biblical guideposts:
• Blessed (happy, KJV) are the people of whom this is true; blessed (happy; KJV) are the people who's God is the LORD (Psalms 144:15).
• He who heeds the Word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he. Happy is he who keeps the law (Proverbs 16:20; 29:18).
• He who despises his neighbour sins, but blessed (happy; KJV) is he who is kind to the needy (Proverbs 14:21).
• Blessed (happy; KJV) is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding (Proverbs 3:13).
• Blessed (happy; KJV) is the man who always fears the LORD (Proverbs 28:14).
• Blessed (happy; KJV) is the man whom God corrects (Job 5:17).

Jonah in order to outbid God became frustrated and made himself unhappy. Be convinced of whatever God commands; be excited on whatever God commissions; and be adaptable to whichever situation God allows. Many people go through life struggling and contesting God's will, forgetting that happiness is neither within us or without; it's the union of ourselves with God, appreciating Him who is our joy (cf. Neh. 8:10).

PRAYER POINTS:
1. I receive the Spirit of joy and happiness to make my life worth living, in Jesus' name.
2. Oh Lord, let Your joy strengthen the minds of brethren who are bereaved in one way or the other.
3. Oh Lord, attend speedily to the cries of the widows and orphans, in Jesus' name.

WEEDS AMONG YOUR WHEAT
READ MATTHEW 13:24-30
MEMORISE: Remove the dross from the silver, and out comes material for the silversmith. (Proverbs 25:4)

The great multitude of people that gathered to hear the Lord speak, heard him in parables, that the mysteries of the kingdom of God may be imparted. The field is the world; the good seeds are the children of the kingdom; but the tares (weeds) are the children of the wicked one. Today, many children of God are in severe distress because their friends, colleagues or associates (the children of Satan, the wicked ones) had lured them into diverse destructive and abominable relationships and involvements.

In order to shine forth, therefore, in this dark generation (Matt 5:14-16), every ungodly association must be detached from. Only then will people see your worth in God and glorify Him. There is no sin that its pleasure can compensate for the immediate and eternal guilt and damnation that will greet it. Could the resulting defilement and loss of glory that came in the wake of Dinah's careless straying to the locals be overshadowed by the pleasure of mixing with the locals? (Gen 34:1,2).

Make a checklist today and be determined to get rid of every disgusting interaction. Weeds (wrong and ungodly connections) among your wheat (Christian virtues and witness) will only distort your testimony and make your life questionable. Sooner or later, the angels of God would gather and burn the weeds (all things and people that offend and engage in iniquity) in eternal furnace of fire; there shall be everlasting wailing and gnashing of teeth. Repent, do restitution, and remove the questionable in you.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Forever, O Lord my God, make my life count in Your kingdom.
2. Lord, give me the courage and inner strength to get rid of unwholesome ungodly relationships, in Jesus' name.
3. Pray that God should dissolve all unequally-yoked courtships and boyfriend-girlfriend among our youths that can lead to disasters at the end.

AWAKE! O SLEEPER
READ MATTHEW 25:1-7
MEMORISE: So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. (1 Thessalonians 5:6)

He who has no vision of eternity has no hold on time. The Scripture confirms that the world is field. Yet many believers live as if they own this world and have no regrets peradventure they miss their place in heaven.

Westcott once said, "The mark of a saint is not perfection, but consecration. A saint is not a man without faults, but a man who has given himself without reserve to God." Consider the story of the ten virgins who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom but alas all fell asleep while waiting (Matt 25:5). As the world sleeps in the dark (having carefree attitude towards God), so the church sleeps in the light (displaying careless manners toward the kingdom of heaven). Hmmmmm! Very scary!

How prepared are you for the soon-coming King - our Lord Jesus Christ? Read Acts 1:11; 2 Peter 3:10-12. Suppose there are no 'Midnight Criers' (the true Gospel preachers) today, what would have been the state of the Christian community worldwide? Be awake; join the heralds of Christ's good news to save your soul from complacency. The Scripture warns, So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him (2 Peter 3:14).

PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord, keep us so awake in the duties of our callings that we may sleep in Your peace and wake in Your glory. Amen
2. Lord, make me sensitive to the pranks of the devil and his agents to snatch me away from You, and strengthened by Your Spirit to wade off his advances.
3. Lord, make Your Church wiser than the devil in all ramifications, in Jesus' name.

RELIGIOUS OR RIGHTEOUS?
READ LUKE 18:9-14
MEMORISE: For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matt 5:20)
Jesus Christ, the unequivocal great Rabbi teaches with all clarity and emphasis always. To the above question-like topic, one would wish your answer is "Both!" because that seems safer. It is possible to be religious and not righteous, but it is impossible to be righteous without being religious in the sense of doing the specifications of God. Piety should not be taken for purity, because the religious can be pious without being necessarily pure!
Majority in the church today feel very good because they attend church for fellowship, worship, prayer and Bible Study. All these really have some good in them because they control lifestyle; regulate choices, and moderate values and tastes. However, if they are devoid of the righteousness imputed by Christ in their recipe, those religious activities will not do regenerative and reformative works in the life of the church goers!
Get it right now: religion without righteousness is unacceptable for entry into God's kingdom. Shun the Pharisaic kind of righteousness (Matt 23:1ff) and humbly allow Christ's regeneration (John 3:1ff) in your life. If you humbly admit that with all your self-righteousness in dressing, conversation and general morality, you are still like a filthy rag before God (Isa 64:6), He will make you righteous today effortlessly by putting upon you the garment of Christ's holiness and righteousness.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Ask that God will deliver you from the shackles of religion and unnecessary religiosity, since true Christianity isn't religion, but redemption.
2. Ask God to quench the fire of hypocrisy and false religiosity among the leaders, workers and members of His people.
3. Ask God to cause the adherents of the other religions to see the futility of religiosity and come to the saving knowledge of Christ.

BREAK ONE, BREAK ALL!
READ DEUTERONOMY 28:1-2; MATTHEW 5:15-19
MEMORISE: Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matt 5:19).
Reading thoroughly the Bible, it confirms that the whole counsel of God for man enshrined in the Scriptures has a unique and wonderful unity. No injunction of the scripture contradicts the other when properly studied within the right context, despite the fact that the Holy Ghost inspired the writers of the Scriptures differently and in different dispensations.
The whole Law of God to humans bothers, encompasses and centres on one and same thing - OBEDIENCE (Deut 28:1ff). Religious adherents during Jesus' earthly ministry days thought they could outsmart Jesus' teachings by disguising to be righteous, whereas they were far from the truth (John 8:30-34).
A good and regular tither, giver and holiness practitioner but still unforgiving is guilty of breaking God's commandment on forgiveness (Matt 6:14-15). Always attending Bible and prayer meetings, giving bountifully, harbouring no ill-will against any, but failing to evangelize, makes you a lawbreaker of the "Go ye" divine commission (Matt 28:18).
"How on earth do we expect ourselves to keep all the laws?" might be your query. The answer is that the grace of God is sufficient for us provided there is willingness in us (Isa 1:19). The presence of the Holy Spirit in us enables us to do those elements of the law even if we haven't crammed the 10 commandments, however, this time around, not legalistically but by spiritual freedom in Christ (cf. 1 John 2:27). He who is guilty of one of the laws is guilty of all. May God assist us to keep all His Word wholly. Amen.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Ask for divine enabling grace to do the will of God wholeheartedly and not legalistically.
2. Oh Lord, let Your Spirit of holiness and faithfulness always moderate my desires and ambitions.
3. Oh Lord, let Your Spirit of holiness and faithfulness always moderate the activities of the Church in the land.

SINLESS ANGER
READ COLOSSIANS 3:6-14
MEMORISE: In your anger do not sin. (Ephesians 4:26)

Do you agree that there is anything called "holy anger" in God's agenda? Many believe anger can still be expressed in holiness and godliness. Is it really standing firm on the truth and defending the gospel (in spite of opposition) that means holy anger? Let us look at sinless anger.
Anger, no doubt, is one of the works of the flesh (Gal 5:19). It is responsible for ulcer as researched by some clinical psychologists. The Bible states that anger rests in the bosom of fools. This common and seeming small hot foaming from within can ruin a whole empire that has taken years to build (Gen. 49:5-6). If it exists between the husband and wife, the home is shaky!
However, it will be exaggeration to assume Christians cannot be angry. Aren't we human? Didn't Jesus get angry at the foolishness of the religious leaders of His days and the way some people rubbished His Father's hours? Of course, Christians, as humans, can, but with difference: not by slight or easy provocation.
When encountering or seeing displeasure, one is not wrong to be upset or to register one's complaint accordingly. What makes the anger sinless is not allowing that displeasure to linger in one for long (Eph 4:26). After sincerely and appropriately expressing your anger, you should not expect to be begged 'extra-ordinarily' before calming down; this is truly anger without sin. As you set out today's work, be prepared in your heart that you shall be offended. So, forgive in advance with large heart (Matt 6:15). Don't allow the sun to go down on that angry feeling in you.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord God, help me to easily forgo any wrong done to me.
2. O Lord, let Your Spirit always moderate my attitude to provocative situations and persons.
3. Pray that issues causing disaffection among leaders of churches, denomination, organizations and the nation be amicably resolved by the influence of God's Spirit.

RUNNING OR RUINING IT?
READ NEHEMIAH 4:1-21
MEMORISE: So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart. (Neh 4:6)

The Bible is replete with people who made both positive and negative impacts as touching the work of God. While some spent and were spent to ensure that God's work did not wait nor waste as they put it on the run, some did all they could to stop or ruin it, but sadly and most expectedly (cf. Prov 11:21), they ended up ruining their own lives and not God's work!
When all your sincere efforts are put into God's work, as you not only spend but are also spent in order to move His business forward, you are actually running God's work, like Nehemiah and his godly team did. Such can't go unrecognized and unrewarded (Neh 4:1ff). Those who put God's work on the run will never be stopped in life.
While the walls of Jerusalem were in shambles and utter ruins, Nehemiah mobilized, encouraged and motivated the people of God to rebuild. This should be emulated even now that the Church, Jesus' structure, is in precarious state. Life generally represents two sides of a coin; head or tail. If you are not running God's work in your home, business, career, school, church and society, may be you are running it! Many are in the church today for the purpose of trying to ruin God's work; they never go far for their folly will be shamefully made known to the public (Matt 7:22-23; 2 Tim 3:9). Beware! Ensure you don't join them! Look, listen and learn.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, assist me to passionately be in the league of those who run, and not ruin, Your work.
2. Lord Jesus, let every attempt to stop the advancement of Your work in every setting be frustrated totally.
3. Pray for every body of believers believing God for a befitting place of worship, that God should raise help from above, within and abroad.
